The Visualping API lets developers create, update, and delete website monitors, retrieve changes, and connect resulting alerts to other applications. Use it when a page change—such as a competitor price update, a product coming back in stock, or a regulatory notice—needs to trigger a review or workflow. It does not detect every change the instant it happens: Visualping checks a page on a schedule, and alerts follow a check.
What can the Visualping API do?
Visualping describes its API as a way to integrate website monitoring into applications and workflows. Its reference documents bearer-token authentication and endpoints for account information and monitor jobs. Examples cover describing a user, listing jobs, creating jobs, reusing saved settings, and bulk-creating monitors. A monitor can be configured with a URL, description, monitoring mode, check interval, element selector, page actions, schedule, alert settings, and notification configuration.
In practical terms, the API helps teams manage monitors programmatically and get detected changes into the systems where people act on them. The monitor defines what to watch and how often to check; a notification or API retrieval step passes the resulting change to a person or another tool. See the Visualping API guide and its API reference for current endpoint and request details.
What can I use it for?
Choose a page and signal that correspond to a decision someone needs to make. A useful monitor is specific: it watches the relevant page or element, checks at a frequency appropriate to the task, and sends a resulting alert to an owner or workflow.

Competitor pricing and offers
Monitor a competitor’s pricing, feature, or offer page. For example, a product team could watch a pricing table and route a detected price decrease or newly listed feature to a shared review queue. Visualping lists competitor offerings and pricing changes among its use cases. A scheduled check means the alert comes after a check detects the difference, not at the precise moment the competitor publishes it. Visualping’s use-case guide and product overview describe these monitoring scenarios.
Retail availability and price
Track a product listing on sites such as eBay, Amazon, or Kijiji for a visible price or availability change. A webhook can send a change payload to another system. If the workflow needs a custom structured value—such as a parsed price or stock status—Visualping describes custom extraction as a Solutions-plan capability; do not assume an ordinary visual alert automatically supplies those fields. See the basic use-case guide and webhook notification guide.
Regulatory and compliance updates
Watch government or regulatory pages for new guidance, amended rules, or notices, then route the alert to an internal compliance review process. Visualping also lists global environmental regulations as an example for curated data starter packs. A monitor flags a page change; a qualified reviewer still needs to determine its legal or operational significance. Sources: use-case guide and plan comparison.

Research, news, and press releases
Monitor journals, publications, news pages, or press-release pages for changed or newly published material. Send the alert to an analyst or research channel so a person can assess relevance rather than treating every page difference as a meaningful finding. These are examples in Visualping’s setup guide and product overview.
Job postings and real estate
Follow job pages for changes to a listing or application date, or property pages for price changes. These are listed monitoring categories in Visualping’s product guide and use-case guide.
Software dependencies and service changes
Monitor vendor documentation, changelogs, and status pages for deprecations, releases, or service notices, then send detected changes to an engineering team for triage. Visualping’s company blog describes software-release monitoring as an API-driven scenario. A change alert is a prompt to inspect the source, not proof that a dependency is affected.

Reporting across multiple monitors
For a portfolio of monitors, use the documented job-listing and activity-query capabilities to retrieve monitor information and review activity across jobs. Visualping’s blog describes cross-monitor reporting as an API pattern, but the available reference—not an assumed endpoint—should guide implementation details. Avoid building against endpoint behavior that is not documented in the API reference.
How to design a useful monitoring workflow
- Choose the exact URL. Use the page that contains the information the team needs, not a broad homepage if a specific product, policy, or changelog page exists.
- Choose the monitored area and signal. Decide whether a whole-page comparison or a relevant element selector better fits the question. Match the monitoring mode to the signal you care about, such as visual, text, code, or configured extracted data, where available.
- Define what counts as actionable. Be explicit about the change that should prompt attention—for example, a listed price changing, a new notice appearing, or a job application date being revised. An alert is not a substitute for review.
- Configure page behavior if necessary. Add a wait or page action when content requires interaction or time to load. This can help the monitor inspect the intended page state.
- Set an appropriate check schedule. Balance the task’s urgency against how often the source is likely to change. Detection follows a scheduled check; it is not continuous real-time observation.
- Choose where the result goes. Review changes in Visualping, retrieve them through the API, or configure a notification channel such as a webhook. Route alerts to a person or workflow that can verify and act on them.
These choices—whole page versus element, visual or text signal versus extracted data, check schedule, and API retrieval versus notification destination—are workflow configuration decisions documented across Visualping’s product overview, API reference, webhook guide, and plan comparison.

Use a bearer token safely
The API reference specifies bearer-token authentication through the Authorization header and recommends API keys. Keep the token in a secret store or server-side environment variable; do not put it in a URL query string or path, where it can be exposed through logs or other records.

Scope keys to the work
Visualping’s API key guide distinguishes organization scope, for integrations that need multiple workspaces, from workspace scope, which limits access to one workspace. Read access is for retrieving information; write access is needed to create or modify monitors. The guide recommends starting with read access and workspace scope when those permissions are sufficient. Business-account Developer settings are limited to admins. Keys are shown only once, can be revoked, and are limited to five per organization. Check the current API key guidance before provisioning keys.
Handle throttling
The public reference documents HTTP 429 throttling and recommends pausing and retrying with exponential backoff. It specifies a limit of 200 requests per rolling one-minute window for the get-diff endpoint. It does not publish a fixed limit for other endpoints, while noting that sustained abusive volume may be restricted. Limits and endpoint behavior can change, so verify the live reference before relying on these figures.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Route changes to a webhook or other workflow
Visualping documents webhook notifications as JSON payloads containing monitor context and links to comparison material. Depending on configuration, payloads may also include summaries and extracted data. The guide names Zapier, n8n, and Microsoft Power Automate as common destinations. A typical flow is to receive the webhook, identify the relevant monitor and change, then send it for review or trigger a downstream task. For custom extracted fields such as price or stock status, Visualping identifies the Solutions plan as the relevant offering. See the webhook setup guide.

How to choose API retrieval, webhooks, or notifications
| Approach | Best fit | What to account for |
|---|---|---|
| API retrieval | Your application needs to list jobs or retrieve monitor changes on its own schedule. | Use the documented endpoints and authentication; respect throttling, including the stated get-diff limit. |
| Webhook | A detected change should be pushed to an endpoint or automation workflow. | Configure the destination and handle the JSON payload; custom structured extraction is described as a Solutions-plan feature. |
| Named integrations or Visualping review | The team wants to review changes in Visualping or use a documented destination such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Google Sheets. | Available options vary by plan and configuration; confirm current details with Visualping. |
Common implementation problems
- 401 or 403 responses: Check that the bearer token is sent in the
Authorizationheader, is valid, and has the needed scope and read or write access. A workspace-scoped key will not provide organization-wide access. - HTTP 429: Pause requests and retry with exponential backoff rather than immediately repeating them. Pay particular attention to the documented rolling-window limit for get-diff requests.
- The result arrives later than expected: The monitor detects differences when a check occurs. Review its configured interval and schedule instead of expecting instantaneous change detection.
- The monitored content is missing or incomplete: Confirm the URL, selector, page actions, and any configured wait. Dynamic content may not be present until the page has loaded or an action has run.
- A webhook lacks a desired structured value: A comparison payload is not automatically equivalent to a parsed business field. Check configuration and plan availability for custom extraction.
- An alert is noisy or not actionable: Narrow the monitored area or clarify the condition and route the result to an owner who can verify it against the source page.
Illustrative usage figures
Visualping’s company blog, updated March 30, 2026, reports sample-account figures—not independently verified market totals—including more than 73,000 users monitoring price changes, 15,600+ monitoring competitors, 11,200+ tracking regulatory and compliance changes, and 6,200+ monitoring software releases. It also reports more than 19 million monitoring checks and 1.9 million change notifications in a 30-day window. Visualping says the user counts are drawn from a sample of active accounts; they should not be read as total market adoption. Source: Visualping’s use-case blog.

Does Visualping detect website changes in real time?
No. It detects changes when a scheduled check runs, so the alert follows that check.
Can Visualping send a change to Zapier or n8n?
Visualping’s webhook guide names Zapier, n8n, and Microsoft Power Automate as common destinations; setup and payload details depend on your configuration.
Can I monitor just one part of a page?
The API reference includes an element selector option, so a monitor can target a relevant page element rather than treating the whole page as the monitoring target.
