In Elementor, add a Flip Box widget, put the introductory content on its front and the details or call to action on its back, then choose a transition and style the two faces. For a simpler effect, use the hover controls in Advanced > Transform on a compatible widget. In either case, make sure important information is available without relying on mouse hover alone, and check the result on mobile.
Build a two-sided flipbox with Elementor
Elementor’s Flip Box widget provides separate front and back faces. The front can show a title and description with an optional image or icon; the back can hold further content and a button. Use this route when the card should reveal a distinct second message, rather than simply move or grow. Elementor’s Flip Box widget guide documents the available content and styling controls.
- Add the widget. In the Elementor editor, place a Flip Box widget where the card should appear.
- Set up the front. Enter a concise title and description. Choose no graphic, an image, or an icon. Set the front background to a color, image, or gradient. If you use an image, adjust the background overlay color so the text remains legible.
- Add the revealed content. Configure the back face with the additional information or call to action. Add a button if useful, then decide whether the link applies to the button alone or the entire box.
- Choose the shape and motion. Set the height and border radius, then select a transition: flip, slide, push, zoom-in, zoom-out, or fade. Flip and slide can be directed right, left, up, or down. The widget also offers optional 3D depth.
- Style and preview. Adjust typography and button states, then preview the card in the page layout. Check its front and back at the sizes where visitors will use it.
Elementor lets you choose heading tags or paragraph, span, or div tags for the title and description. Choose heading levels to fit the page’s content outline; use typography controls for appearance rather than selecting a heading level just to make text look larger.
Use a simpler hover transform instead
If the goal is a subtle scale, rotation, offset, skew, or flip rather than a separate information face, a full flipbox may be unnecessary. Elementor documents CSS Transform controls for compatible widgets at Advanced > Transform. The controls provide Normal and Hover values, a duration, and responsive breakpoint-specific settings. Elementor says these transform controls apply to widgets, not sections, columns, or inner sections. See its CSS Transform documentation for the available controls.

This keeps the effect on an existing widget rather than adding a separate flipbox addon. It does not create a dedicated back face for additional content, so don’t use it as a substitute when visitors need information that is only revealed by the interaction.
Make revealed content usable without a mouse
Hover effects are not categorically inaccessible, but content that appears and disappears on pointer hover or keyboard focus has specific requirements. W3C’s explanation of WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.4.13 says this additional content must be dismissible, hoverable, and persistent, except where the criterion’s stated exception applies. It also explains that content triggered by pointer hover should be available when triggered by keyboard focus.

- Confirm that keyboard users can trigger and read the revealed face; don’t make a mouse pointer the only way to expose essential information.
- Make sure a pointer can move from the trigger onto the revealed content without the content disappearing.
- Keep the content visible while the pointer or keyboard focus remains on the trigger or revealed content.
- If the added content obstructs other content, provide a way to dismiss it without moving the pointer or focus away.
Test the implementation itself, including its keyboard and assistive-technology behavior. A WordPress.org support thread about the specific Radius Blocks flipbox block reports screen-reader announcement and hidden-content concerns, including after a click trigger was added. That user report is anecdotal and is not a WCAG ruling about other widgets or flipboxes. It is a reason to verify the semantics and behavior of the block or widget you choose, not to assume every flipbox behaves alike.
Check mobile behavior, especially on iOS Safari
Elementor’s Flip Box guide warns that Safari on mobile is partially incompatible with the widget’s optional 3D Depth effect. In the affected setup, portions of the flipbox can show through a navigation-menu dropdown; Elementor also says its 3D Flip Box and Nav Menu widgets cannot be used together on iOS because of Safari support issues. Preview the actual page on mobile. If the problem occurs, disable 3D depth or adapt the mobile layout, including responsive visibility where appropriate.

Do not assume a desktop hover interaction translates cleanly to touch. Test how visitors can reach the back-side information on the devices and interaction modes you support, and ensure essential content is not available only through a hover state.

The WordPress.org listing for Flipbox Addon for Elementor describes a free plugin that requires Elementor. Its listing says it includes Basic, Post, and Story flipbox widgets; image, title, icon, description, and button content; grids and carousels; and click or hover triggers. Those are claims on the plugin listing, not independent findings about accessibility, performance, maintenance, or compatibility with a particular site.

Before adding it, check that it works with your Elementor setup and test the chosen trigger with keyboard, touch, and assistive technology. Prefer Elementor’s built-in widget or transform controls when they already meet the design need; an addon introduces another plugin dependency.
