What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Short answer: Site-Shot is the lower-priced starting point for API captures and has documented recurring visual-change monitoring. ScreenshotAPI.net is worth considering when its advertised bulk capture, PDF, or scrolling-video workflows match your needs. Neither should be called faster or more reliable based on the published information available here. If you are open to a third option, ScreenshotNeo leads this comparison: it removes common page overlays before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a $5 paid plan.
At a glance
| Service | Published entry option | Documented fit |
|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Free: 1,000 shots/month with no card; Starter: $5 for 3,000 | Clean captures, explicit page-verdict and billing headers, and an MCP server for AI agents. |
| Site-Shot | X-Lite: $5/month for 2,000 included screenshots | API capture controls and scheduled visual-change monitoring. |
| ScreenshotAPI.net | 100 free captures; Essential: $9/month for 1,000 screenshots | Vendor-advertised bulk and scheduled capture; its Startup plan lists scrolling video. |

How the two APIs differ
Site-Shot: capture controls and scheduled visual comparisons
Site-Shot accepts a URL and API key through a GET endpoint. Its product page says the API runs a real Chromium browser with JavaScript execution and can return an image or JSON containing base64 image data and page-response metadata. Documented options include full-page capture, viewport dimensions and zoom, desktop or mobile emulation, custom user agents, JavaScript injection, delay and timeout settings, country-specific proxy rotation, GPS geolocation simulation, custom headers, and PNG, JPEG, or WebP output. It also lists image scaling. See the Site-Shot API documentation for the current parameter details.
Site-Shot lists four API plans: X-Lite at $5/month for 2,000 included screenshots; Lite at $15/month for 10,000; Optimal at $50/month for 50,000; and Professional at $500/month for 625,000. The same pricing page lists plan-specific worker counts, scheduled-capture limits, and per-additional-screenshot prices. Because the page describes capture counts in terms of included/prepaid captures and storage capacity, do not assume a reset or rollover rule from the headline numbers alone; check the live terms and checkout.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Its browser-based screenshot tool is separate from the API subscription. Site-Shot says that browser tool is free without registration; that is not a free API tier.
ScreenshotAPI.net: bulk and additional output workflows
ScreenshotAPI.net’s homepage lists 100 free screenshots, Essential at $9/month for 1,000, and Startup at $29/month for 10,000. It lists scheduled and bulk screenshots for paid plans, and scrolling video in MP4 or GIF on Startup. Its feature page advertises use cases that include CSV-based bulk capture, URL-to-PDF archival, HTML-template rendering, authenticated page capture, and extraction of rendered text. These are vendor-described capabilities; check the current plan matrix to confirm which tier includes the exact workflow you need. See its features page and homepage.

The vendor’s help page documents the capture endpoint and says bulk CSV capture is available on a paid tier. It states that captured images are retained for up to 30 days on the free tier and six months on paid tiers; verify the terms applicable to your account. The same help page says the browser timezone defaults to UTC+0 and cannot currently be set separately, though geolocation can be configured. It also documents lazy-loading and delay support and cookie/ad blocking. See ScreenshotAPI.net Help.
Compare by workload, not just the starting price
Estimate volume and billing
For a small API workload, Site-Shot’s listed X-Lite plan includes 2,000 screenshots for $5/month, while ScreenshotAPI.net lists a 100-capture free allowance and 1,000 captures for $9/month on Essential. These figures do not, by themselves, establish the cheaper service for every workload: included volumes differ, and usage accounting and overage rules need checking. For larger listed volumes, Site-Shot advertises 10,000 for $15/month, 50,000 for $50/month, and 625,000 for $500/month; ScreenshotAPI.net lists 10,000 for $29/month on Startup.

Before comparing effective cost, determine whether retries, failed renders, cached captures, or stored images count against your allowance, and how any overage is charged. Do not calculate a durable per-capture cost without the applicable billing and metering terms.
Match the output to the job
- Still images with detailed browser controls: Site-Shot documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP, along with viewport, device emulation, headers, geolocation, and JavaScript controls.
- PDF, video, or bulk URL processing: ScreenshotAPI.net advertises these workflows; scrolling video is listed on Startup, while bulk and scheduled captures are listed for paid plans. Confirm output format and tier before implementation.
- Rendered text or HTML-template work: ScreenshotAPI.net advertises text extraction and HTML-template rendering on its feature page. The cited Site-Shot API page documents image output and JSON metadata, not an equivalent text-extraction workflow.
- Automated ingestion: Compare the endpoint’s response shape, authentication, rate or concurrency limits, and error behavior against your existing job queue before committing.
Decide whether monitoring means measurement or explanation
Site-Shot documents recurring captures that compare each run with the previous capture using the same settings. It reports the percentage of visual area changed and page-height change, and can send email alerts. The vendor is explicit: “It measures how much changed, not what changed — there is no text or element diff.” Schedules are managed in the browser, the finest listed cadence is hourly, all times use UTC, and alerts are email-only. See Site-Shot’s scheduled screenshot documentation.

This can help flag that a page looks different, but it does not explain the semantic change or identify a changed element. If your monitoring needs require a content-level explanation, confirm that separately rather than treating a visual-change percentage as one.
Check rendering controls and operational boundaries
For pages that depend on scripts or delayed content, compare the available waits, lazy-loading behavior, and timeout handling. For location-sensitive pages, check geolocation and timezone separately: ScreenshotAPI.net’s help page says its timezone is fixed at UTC+0 even though geolocation can be configured. For authenticated pages, confirm the supported authentication and cookie/header method on the relevant API documentation before sending credentials.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which service should you choose?
- Choose Site-Shot when its listed pricing and documented browser controls fit your volume, or when you want its built-in recurring visual comparisons and email alerts.
- Choose ScreenshotAPI.net when its advertised bulk workflow, PDF output, rendered-text workflow, or Startup scrolling video is important and the required feature is included in your selected plan.
- Try ScreenshotNeo first if clean screenshots, clear per-response billing status, or an MCP workflow for AI agents are priorities. It removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; its listed free tier is 1,000 shots/month with no card, and its paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
There is no supported basis here to declare a winner for speed, fidelity, uptime, or failure rate. The reviewed vendor materials do not provide an independent, equivalent-page benchmark. If those properties decide the purchase, run your own test with representative pages, identical viewport and wait conditions, and enough repeated runs to expose intermittent failures.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo provides a one-request screenshot API. The example below saves a WebP capture of Stripe; replace the URL and use your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for options and response details.
Quick Recap

Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo free.
Questions to settle before you integrate
- Which output formats and capture modes does the selected plan actually include?
- How are failures, retries, stored outputs, and overages counted?
- Do your pages need authentication, custom headers, geolocation, or a non-default timezone?
- Can your required monitoring cadence and alert channel be met?
- Can you test representative pages at the expected concurrency before relying on the service?
