On WordPress.com, connect your Threads account through Jetpack → Social. Once connected, new posts are shared to Threads automatically; you can review or change sharing settings for each post before publishing. WordPress.com’s instructions cover WordPress.com sites and do not establish that the same steps or feature availability apply to every self-hosted WordPress installation.
Connect Threads to WordPress.com
- Sign in to Threads before starting.
- In your WordPress.com site dashboard, go to Jetpack → Social.
- Select Add account, choose Threads, then click Connect.
- Approve the connection in the Threads authorization window.
- Return to WordPress.com and confirm the connection.
- Publish a new post, then check Threads to verify that it was shared. Before publishing future posts, review their sharing settings if you want to adjust what is sent.
These are the steps in WordPress.com’s Threads connection guide, last reviewed August 20, 2026. It says posts published after connection are shared automatically and that sharing can be changed for an individual post before publication.
What to check before relying on automatic sharing
Threads is text-forward, so consider the sharing message rather than assuming the WordPress post will read well as a social post without edits. Review the post’s sharing settings before publishing when the wording or presentation matters.
The documented workflow is specifically for WordPress.com. The guide does not establish plan eligibility, pricing, or identical availability on self-hosted WordPress sites. If your site is self-hosted, verify current compatibility and feature support for your installation instead of assuming this dashboard path applies.

If a WordPress post does not appear on Threads
- In WordPress.com, disconnect and reconnect the Threads account using Jetpack → Social.
- Publish a new post as a test and check Threads.
- If the issue continues, consult WordPress.com’s Threads connection guide and its linked troubleshooting material.
WordPress.com says reconnecting resolves most sharing problems, not every one. Its guidance points to separate troubleshooting information for cases including scheduled posts, republished drafts, and static pages; the connection guide itself does not specify the cause or fix for each case.

Custom publishing with Meta’s Threads API
Meta’s Threads API documentation describes setting up a Meta app with the Threads use case, authorizing access, and making API requests. Its collection documents an auto_publish_text option that can publish a text post when its media container is created, without a separate publish step. Check Meta’s current API documentation and changelog before building against it; API details can change.

Do not confuse publishing with embedding
Meta’s Meta Embeds plugin renders existing Threads content in WordPress when you paste a Threads URL, using Meta’s oEmbed endpoint. Its README lists WordPress 5.9+ and PHP 7.4+ as requirements. Those are compatibility requirements for the embedding plugin, not requirements for automatic cross-posting.
Check a third-party plugin’s current network support
A vendor’s general auto-posting feature does not prove it supports Threads. The inspected Blog2Social auto-posting guidance does not list Threads among the destinations in its imported-content section. Confirm current Threads support with a plugin vendor before installing or configuring a tool for this purpose.
