If your YouTube stream ends as soon as your phone locks, keep the phone unlocked while you stream. Streamlabs’ mobile gameplay guide states: “Stay unlocked while live: If your device locks, the stream will end.” The material available does not establish a Streamlabs Mobile setting that keeps screen sharing active after the device locks.
Keep the phone awake during the stream
For a Streamlabs Mobile screen-share broadcast, prevent the phone from locking and leave its screen awake until you end the stream. Streamlabs says that when the device locks, the stream will end. Its guide, updated September 30, 2026, does not describe an in-app override for this behavior.
Use your phone’s display or auto-lock controls to keep the screen on during the broadcast. The exact setting name and path depend on the device and operating system; the available guidance does not specify a universal path. If you change a timeout setting, restore your preferred setting after streaming.
Why screen capture can stop when the phone locks
Streamlabs explains that screen capture puts its app in the background, where it is effectively suspended. On iOS, Streamlabs says it disables widgets during screen broadcasting to reduce the risk of the operating system killing the app. This offers context for why keeping the device unlocked matters, but it is not a device-by-device explanation and should not be generalized to every phone, operating-system version, or camera stream.

If the stream stops while the phone is still awake
A stream ending at the moment the phone locks points to the lock behavior above. If it stops while the screen remains awake, consider other causes separately:
- Reduce competing load: Streamlabs recommends closing other apps to reduce lag or crashes. This is general stream hygiene, not a guaranteed fix for a lock-triggered stop.
- Limit interruptions: Streamlabs recommends Do Not Disturb to avoid notifications interrupting a broadcast. It does not claim that this keeps screen capture alive when the phone locks.
- Do not treat Network Boost as a lock fix: Streamlabs describes Network Boost as using multiple internet connections to support connection reliability. It does not claim to override the device’s lock behavior.
If the phone stays awake and the stream still ends, note when it happens and whether the app shows an error. Those details can help distinguish an app or connection problem from the screen-lock symptom.

Separate YouTube eligibility from a stream ending on lock
YouTube’s mobile live requirements affect whether you can start a mobile stream; they do not explain a stream ending exactly when the screen locks. YouTube Help says a channel must be verified, have live streaming enabled, have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, have at least 50 subscribers, and use a compatible device. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check eligibility if you cannot start a stream, not as a fix for one that ends when the phone locks.
When to consider a different workflow
YouTube documents mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming as distinct ways to go live. A different workflow may be worth investigating if keeping the phone awake is not practical, but the available guidance does not establish a particular encoder setup as a verified fix for this Streamlabs Mobile screen-lock behavior. Mobile screen capture and an encoder-based setup are different workflows; switching methods is not a guaranteed remedy.
