Use Loom when you want an annotated link

Before sharing, review the screenshot for personal information and check the link’s privacy or workspace access settings so the intended audience can view it without exposing it more broadly than planned.
Use ShareX when you want a Windows desktop tool
ShareX is a free, open-source option for Windows that offers capture, annotation, recording, and sharing functions. The available product information does not establish that it provides a hosted classroom library with the same link-and-access workflow described for Loom. - What is visible: crop or obscure student names, grades, email addresses, account details, and other information that students do not need to see.
- Who can open the link: verify the tool’s sharing and workspace settings; do not assume a generated link is restricted to your class.
- Where files are stored: confirm that the storage and account arrangement is permitted by school policy.
- How long the material remains available: follow the school’s retention and deletion rules.
- Which account you use: prefer a school-approved account and workflow over an unapproved personal account when required by policy.
