If FireShot captures the page but the PDF export dialog never appears, first check whether the capture exists and whether FireShot is set to show a save dialog. If no capture opens, troubleshoot how you start the capture instead. These are different failure stages, and a Chrome user report does not establish a universal cause or fix.
Identify where the process stops
Separate the problem into one of three cases before changing settings:
- Capture does not start: FireShot does not open a captured page or editor.
- Capture opens, but PDF export does not respond: the page was captured, but choosing PDF or saving it appears to do nothing.
- A file is created without a visible dialog: the export may be going directly to a configured folder.
A FireShot Pro user wrote on September 23, 2025, that “the Export to PDF box does not appear after selecting the Capture.” This is a user report about Chrome on Windows 10 after FireShot 2.1.2, not a verified diagnosis affecting all Chrome users. The user said the dialog appeared in Edge, but that comparison does not establish why Chrome behaved differently. FireShot Premium Support post
Confirm FireShot can capture the page
FireShot’s onboarding page lists three capture entry points: the toolbar button, the right-click menu, and the Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut. Try another entry point if your usual one seems inert. If none opens a capture, note that separately from a PDF-saving failure; the available report does not establish that these controls fix export problems. FireShot onboarding

Check the save destination and dialog preferences
If a capture opens, inspect FireShot’s save preferences before reinstalling or changing browser permissions. The onboarding page shows preferences for the save location and save process, including whether “Save as” is hidden or shown. A hidden dialog can make an export appear unresponsive when the file is being saved to the configured destination instead.
- Open FireShot’s save preferences using the settings route available in your installed version; menu labels can vary.
- Check the configured output folder and whether the “Save as” dialog is set to appear or is hidden.
- Look in that folder for a newly created PDF. If your edition provides FireShot history, check there as well.
- If the file is absent and the dialog still does not appear, record that result and continue with the browser comparison below.
FireShot’s onboarding page lists PDF as an output format and identifies multipage PDF export as a Pro feature. Verify that the PDF operation you need is included in your installed edition. FireShot onboarding

An older 2021 support exchange shows an administrator asking a user whose “Save as Image” and “Save to PDF” buttons had stopped working to check the default output folder. The visible exchange does not show that this resolved the issue, so treat the folder check as a diagnostic rather than a confirmed fix. FireShot support exchange
Compare browser behavior without assuming a cause
If another supported browser is available, try the same page and capture type there. The September 2025 report described a missing export dialog in Chrome and a visible dialog in Edge. If your result differs by browser, that is useful evidence of a browser-specific symptom, but it does not identify the cause or prove that switching browsers is a permanent fix. Prepare a useful support report
If the problem remains, include the details that distinguish capture, export, and destination failures:
- Browser name and version, plus operating system.
- FireShot version and edition.
- Capture type and the entry point used: toolbar, right-click menu, or keyboard shortcut.
- Whether the captured page or editor opens.
- Whether a PDF appears in the configured folder or FireShot history, if available.
- Whether the same steps behave differently in another browser.
- The save-dialog preference currently selected.
The public excerpt of the September 2025 report does not provide a confirmed cause or resolution. Reinstalling FireShot did not solve that user’s symptom, so reinstalling should not be presented as a proven fix.
