Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo capture an entire webpage in Firefox Developer Tools, enable the full-page screenshot button in DevTools settings, then click it. Or open the Web Console and run :screenshot --fullpage. Both methods capture beyond the visible browser window; the regular Firefox Screenshots tool also has a “Save full page” option.
Use the Developer Tools screenshot button
- Open the webpage you want to capture.
- Open Developer Tools with Ctrl+Shift+I or F12 on Windows or Linux. On macOS, use Cmd+Option+I. Shortcuts can vary with browser version or customization. See Mozilla’s Firefox DevTools User Docs.
- Open DevTools Settings and find “Available Toolbox Buttons.” Check “Take a screenshot of the entire page.” Mozilla’s documentation says this button is not enabled by default.
- Click the screenshot icon in the DevTools toolbar. Firefox saves the image to the browser’s Downloads directory.
Capture a full page from the Web Console
Open the Web Console in Developer Tools and enter:
:screenshot --fullpage
The --fullpage option includes portions of the webpage outside the current window bounds. To choose a PNG filename, use:
:screenshot --fullpage --filename full-page.png
Mozilla documents additional options for this helper:
--delaywaits before capture.--dprsets the device-pixel ratio.--clipboardcopies the capture to the clipboard.--selectorlimits the screenshot to an element and its descendants.
If you save repeatedly using the same filename, the later capture overwrites the earlier one. See Mozilla’s Taking screenshots documentation for the helper and its options.

Choose the capture method that fits
| Method | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| DevTools toolbar button | A repeatable point-and-click full-page capture inside Developer Tools | Enable “Take a screenshot of the entire page” in Settings, then click the screenshot icon. Saves to Downloads. |
| Web Console helper | Command-based capture or options such as delay, filename, device-pixel ratio, clipboard, or selector | Run :screenshot --fullpage, adding documented options as needed. |
| Firefox Screenshots | A one-off capture without using the DevTools toolbar | Choose “Take Screenshot” from the page context menu or use the keyboard shortcut, then select “Save full page.” |
Use Firefox Screenshots for a quick full-page image
Firefox’s standard Screenshots interface is separate from the DevTools toolbar control. Open it by right-clicking the page and choosing “Take Screenshot,” or press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. Select “Save full page,” then choose “Download” to save to Firefox’s configured download folder or “Copy” to put the image on the clipboard. Mozilla lists other modes too: selected region, automatically highlighted page part, and visible area. See Take screenshots in Firefox.
Capture one element instead of the whole page
To capture a specific element and its descendants, open the Inspector, right-click the target element in the HTML pane, and choose “Screenshot Node.” The Console helper’s --selector option is another documented way to restrict a screenshot to an element.

What a full-page capture includes
Full-page capture extends beyond the visible viewport to include webpage portions outside the window bounds. It does not mean that Firefox reveals content hidden from the rendered page. Mozilla’s documentation does not guarantee how every site’s dynamic or lazy-loaded content will appear, so inspect the saved image if completeness matters.
Common problems
- The screenshot button is missing. It is disabled by default. In DevTools Settings, check “Take a screenshot of the entire page” under “Available Toolbox Buttons.”
- The image contains only what was visible. Use the full-page button or run
:screenshot --fullpage; a visible-area capture is not the same mode. - You cannot find the saved file. The DevTools button saves to the browser’s Downloads directory. Firefox Screenshots’ Download action uses Firefox’s configured download folder.
- A previous image disappeared. A Console capture saved to the same filename overwrites the earlier file. Choose a different value for
--filename. - Parts of a dynamic page appear missing. The official instructions do not guarantee that all dynamically or lazily loaded content will be present. Check the rendered page and resulting image; the documented
--delayoption can wait before capture, but it does not guarantee a site will load every item.
