For bulk website captures, use ScreenshotMachine’s documented HTTP API and orchestrate multiple requests with a shell script or another job runner. The official material reviewed documents an API and a bash example using curl, but does not establish a separate ScreenshotMachine CLI product or batch endpoint. A script can handle URL lists, filenames, retries, and concurrency; check throughput limits with ScreenshotMachine before relying on a high-volume run.
CLI or API: what ScreenshotMachine documents
ScreenshotMachine’s documented capture interface is an HTTP GET API. Each request includes a customer API key and a webpage URL. The vendor’s bash example uses curl to send a request and save the response as an image. Its maintained Python example also shows one URL per options object and writes the returned capture to a local file; neither example establishes a separate vendor-supported CLI. ScreenshotMachine API documentation and its Python example describe these API workflows.
The reviewed API documentation describes one url parameter per request, not a batch endpoint. For bulk work, your script or job runner must make a request for each URL, manage outputs, and decide how to handle errors. This conclusion is limited to the official materials reviewed; ask the vendor whether another supported route is available for your account or workload.
Choose the approach that fits your job
| Approach | Best fit | What you manage |
|---|---|---|
| Direct API requests | One-off captures, an existing application, or a system that already manages jobs and files. | Request formation, response and error handling, and storage. The API is the documented service interface. ScreenshotMachine API documentation |
| Shell script calling the API | Repeatable URL lists, CI jobs, local output folders, or scheduled captures. | URL iteration, safe file naming, error detection, retry policy, and concurrency. This is a CLI-style workflow built around curl, not a confirmed standalone ScreenshotMachine CLI. ScreenshotMachine API documentation |
For a large run, decide whether you need fresh captures or whether cached images are acceptable, and account for the monthly fresh-screenshot allowance and any overage. The reviewed official pages do not publish a rate ceiling, concurrency limit, or bulk completion guarantee, so confirm those details with ScreenshotMachine before scheduling production-scale work.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Make a single ScreenshotMachine request
Start with one URL and verify that the response is a usable image before adding a list. The following follows ScreenshotMachine’s documented curl pattern; replace the key and target URL with your own. See the API documentation for request options and response details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotmachine.com/"
--data-urlencode "key=YOUR_CUSTOMER_KEY"
--data-urlencode "url=https://example.com"
-o example.png
Keep the customer key in a server-side configuration or environment variable rather than public client-side code. ScreenshotMachine’s documentation recommends a hash parameter for requests made directly from publicly available HTML pages; if you configure a secret phrase, requests without a correct hash are ignored.
Build a bulk workflow with curl
The following Bash example reads one URL per non-empty line from urls.txt, writes one PNG per URL, and stops on an HTTP or transfer error rather than silently counting it as a successful image. It runs sequentially: that is a conservative starting point when the vendor’s throughput limits are not established in the reviewed pages.

Numeric filenames avoid collisions when different URLs share a hostname or path. For a workflow that needs names derived from URLs, sanitize them and account for duplicate paths before writing files. Keep the saved headers while diagnosing failures: ScreenshotMachine documents an X-Screenshotmachine-Response header that carries a specific error code. The example is intentionally sequential; do not increase parallelism until the vendor confirms a suitable throughput limit.

ScreenshotMachine’s public pricing page, accessed in 2026, distinguishes monthly fresh screenshots from cached requests: it says repeated requests for cached screenshots are not charged as fresh captures and describes a 14-day cache. A fresh-capture allowance is therefore not the same as a cap on all requests. The live page should be checked before purchase because terms can change. ScreenshotMachine pricing
| Plan listed on the public pricing page | Fresh screenshots per month | Listed recurring price | Listed additional screenshot rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 100 | not stated on the pricing page | not stated on the pricing page |
| Basic | 2,500 | 9 EUR/month | 0.004 EUR |
| Pro | 20,000 | 59 EUR/month | 0.003 EUR |
| Enterprise | 50,000 | 99 EUR/month | 0.002 EUR |
These allowances, prices, and overage rates are figures listed on ScreenshotMachine’s public pricing page as accessed in 2026, not independent market estimates. The page says additional screenshots are counted in groups of 1,000 rounded down. Confirm how that billing rule applies to your expected usage on the live page.

- Invalid or missing key: Check that the customer key is present and correct; keep it in server-side or environment-based configuration.
- Invalid or missing URL: Validate each input line and URL before sending requests.
- Exhausted credits: Check remaining fresh screenshot allowance and the current plan terms.
- Invalid selector or crop: Confirm the selector matches the target page and that crop values are valid for the requested capture.
- Generic system error: Save the response header and retry only under a deliberate policy; avoid an unbounded loop that can repeatedly submit a failing URL.
Use a temporary file for each capture and rename it to the final filename only after a successful response if downstream jobs consume the output folder while the batch is running. This prevents incomplete downloads from appearing as finished files. For an error response that still writes a body, inspect the response header and content before treating the file as an image.

Troubleshooting a bulk capture run
- The script produced fewer files than input URLs: Check the error log and saved response headers; the script reports failed requests rather than treating them as successful captures.
- A file exists but is not a screenshot: A response body may contain an error result. Check
X-Screenshotmachine-Responseand verify the content before passing the file downstream. - A page capture is incomplete: For long pages with images or animations, allow more capture delay; for full-page screenshots, use
fullas the height. - Repeated requests do not look fresh: Review the cache age setting. The documented
cacheLimit=0requests a fresh capture. - A large run slows down or fails unpredictably: The reviewed official documentation does not state a rate or concurrency ceiling. Keep the job sequential until you have vendor guidance, and add controlled retries and resumable logs rather than assuming parallel completion is supported.
Frequently asked questions
Does ScreenshotMachine provide an official CLI?
The official materials reviewed document an HTTP API and a bash/curl example, but do not establish a standalone CLI product. Check ScreenshotMachine’s current documentation or ask its support team for any newer offering.
Does the documented API include a bulk endpoint?
The reviewed request documentation describes one URL per request and does not document a batch endpoint. A list-based job therefore needs local orchestration unless ScreenshotMachine confirms another supported option.
