YouTube podcast playlists do not automatically insert music between episodes. To guarantee an interlude for viewers during one continuous YouTube Live broadcast, place the episodes and music in the production workflow that sends your stream to YouTube, then test and monitor the audio. A playlist, viewer queue, autoplay, or Live Redirect does not provide that creator-controlled interlude.
Choose the setup that matches what you want viewers to hear

Play music between episodes in one continuous YouTube Live broadcast
The key is to build the sequence in the production system feeding the livestream, rather than in the YouTube podcast playlist. Set up playback so the live program moves from an episode to the music interlude and then to the next episode. The exact controls depend on your encoder or production software; YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specify a product-specific interstitial-music setup.
- Prepare the sequence. Identify the episode files and the music you intend to play, and arrange their order in the playback or production workflow you use for the live show.
- Send the program through your encoder. Use your encoder or live production system to deliver the combined episode-and-music program to YouTube Live. Follow that software’s instructions for switching or sequencing media sources; the precise steps differ by product.
- Run a test stream. Confirm that episode playback ends where expected, the music starts, and the next episode follows without an unwanted gap or overlap.
- Monitor the live audio and video. YouTube advises testing and ongoing monitoring for encoder-based streams. Check that the music is audible at an appropriate level alongside the episode audio and that the stream remains stable during transitions.
If the episodes are separate livestreams
YouTube Live Redirect can transition viewers when one stream ends to a selected Premiere or another livestream. The creator setting up the redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Redirecting viewers to another channel’s live stream also requires that channel’s permission. Live Redirect is an end-of-stream handoff, not a way to play music between videos.
Why playlists, queues, and autoplay do not provide a reliable interlude
Podcast playlists organize episodes
YouTube describes a podcast show as a playlist, with each episode represented by a video. The playlist is for organizing full-length episodes in intended listening order; it is not documented as a way to insert a music bed between episodes. Some playlists may not qualify for podcast features, including playlists containing content the creator does not own.

Series playlists mark a set of videos
A series playlist identifies videos as an official set intended to be watched together. It requires a verified account, and it may include only videos you uploaded and have rights to. This setting does not add music between videos.
Queues and autoplay are controlled by the viewer
A queue lets a viewer arrange what to watch next. On desktop, the queue does not persist after the browser closes; queueing on mobile requires Premium. Autoplay may start a related video, but viewers can turn it off, and YouTube may stop it after inactivity or ask whether the viewer is still watching. These features cannot guarantee a creator-selected music interlude for every viewer.

Check music rights before you broadcast
Make sure you have the rights needed to use the music in your livestream. The playlist guidance also limits podcast or series playlist eligibility in some cases based on ownership and rights. A playlist setting or live-production workflow does not itself grant permission to use a recording.
