Yes. A screenshot API can capture a React page when its renderer opens the URL in a browser that runs JavaScript. The key is timing: capture after the React interface reaches the state you want, rather than assuming the first page-load event means all content is ready.
Why React pages need browser rendering
A React app may initially deliver an HTML document and then update the interface with browser-side JavaScript. An API that only saves the initial HTTP response may therefore miss content added by React. A browser-rendering API can load the page, execute its scripts, and capture the resulting browser state. That is a practical distinction, not a guarantee that every API or target site behaves the same way.
For an overview of a service built for this job, see ScreenshotNeo. Its screenshot API accepts a URL and returns an image or PDF; the capture settings determine when and what it captures.
How to get the React state you want
- Use the complete URL. Include the scheme, such as
https://, and point to the actual route you need. Set the viewport to the dimensions you want represented. - Wait for a meaningful element. If the content you need appears after React renders, use a selector wait when the API supports it. Waiting for a page-specific element is usually a better signal than a generic page-load event. ScreenshotAPI and Cloudflare document selector-wait controls; their exact names and behavior depend on the service and endpoint.
- Add a bounded delay only if needed. An element can appear before related data, images, or animations finish. A short delay after the relevant readiness condition may help. Delay limits vary by product and endpoint, so check the documentation for the one you use.
- Choose a suitable completion condition. Network-idle can help when a page’s requests settle, but pages that poll continuously or keep long-lived connections open may never become idle. A delay or selector wait may be more appropriate for those pages.
- Decide whether the whole page is required. Full-page capture and scrolling can affect lazy-loaded images and sections. If the API supports scrolling before capture, use it when below-the-fold content must load; otherwise the returned image may omit content that was never brought into view.
- Inspect the image. Check that it shows the intended route, content, viewport, and page state. A successful image response alone does not prove that an authentication gate, application error, or bot check was captured as intended.
What to compare when choosing an API
If you are selecting a service, compare the controls that determine whether the result is useful—not just whether the API accepts a URL.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Capability | Why it matters for React |
|---|---|
| JavaScript-capable browser rendering | The renderer needs to run the app’s browser-side code to capture the resulting interface. |
| Selector waits and visibility rules | They can coordinate capture with a particular component or state. Check whether the condition means that an element exists, is visible, or meets another documented rule. |
| Delay, load conditions, and timeout controls | They affect how long the API waits and what happens if content is slow or a readiness condition is never met. |
| Viewport and device options | Layout, responsive breakpoints, and visible content depend on the viewport being captured. |
| Full-page capture and scrolling | These controls matter when content below the initial viewport or lazy-loaded sections are part of the desired result. |
| Authentication and page actions | For protected or interactive pages, check whether the service supports the required cookies or other access details, and whether it can perform any necessary page actions. |
| Output format and image controls | Choose the output type and quality appropriate to storage, display, or downstream processing. |
ScreenshotAPI documents URL capture, viewport settings, selector waits, delay, full-page capture, and scrolling options. Cloudflare documents selector waits and visibility controls. These examples establish that such controls exist in those products’ documentation; they do not establish identical behavior across APIs or guarantee capture of any particular site.
Or skip the browser setup
With ScreenshotNeo, you can request a screenshot of a React route directly. The request returns an image; use the documented wait settings when the page needs time to render. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the supported parameter names and syntax.

cURL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Replace the example URL with the React page you want to capture. These minimal requests show the URL-based call; add any required readiness or capture options using the syntax in the API documentation. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents, including Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

- The image shows a shell or loading state: The capture may have happened before the relevant React content appeared. Wait for a selector associated with that content, or add a limited delay after the appropriate readiness condition.
- The selector wait times out: Confirm that the selector matches the target page and appears in the state being captured. It may be absent because the app took a different route, an error occurred, or access was blocked.
- The page never reaches network-idle: Ongoing polling or long-lived connections can keep requests active. Try a selector wait or bounded delay instead, if the API supports it.
- Images or lower sections are missing: Check whether the relevant content is lazy-loaded and whether full-page capture or scrolling is supported and enabled.
- The API returns a failure or an unexpected page: Check the exact URL, timeout and selector settings, then inspect whether the target requires authentication or presents a bot check. Whether a particular target can be captured depends on that site and the service; it cannot be inferred from React alone.
Timing, reliability, and cost considerations
Readiness controls trade speed against the chance of capturing an incomplete state. A specific selector can avoid waiting for unrelated activity, while an excessively long delay or timeout can increase response time. Conversely, a short fixed delay does not prove that asynchronous data, images, or other late work has finished. Validate representative captures, especially when the app’s content or loading behavior changes.

There is no universal capture time or success rate established here: both depend on the target page, its network and application behavior, and the API’s renderer and limits. Review the chosen endpoint’s current documentation for timeout and delay limits. For ScreenshotNeo, billed and non-billed outcomes are identified in response headers, so check those headers rather than treating every response as a paid screenshot.
