A successful response is 200 OK with HTML or ZIP content. PDFCrowd’s HTTP API guide documents the endpoint and request format.
Set up the Postman request
- Create a request: Start a new request, select
POST, and enterhttps://api.pdfcrowd.com/convert/24.04/. Keep the versioned endpoint as documented; do not silently replace it with an unversioned URL. See the PDFCrowd examples. - Configure authentication: Open the Authorization tab and select Basic Auth. Put your PDFCrowd username in Username and your API key in Password. For a request shared with others, store real credentials in secure Postman variables or Vault rather than in the shared request itself. Demo credentials shown in PDFCrowd examples are for trying the examples; use your account credentials to test your account. See Postman request basics.
- Choose the request body: Open Body and select form-data. Add the text fields
input_formatwith valuepdfandoutput_formatwith valuehtml.
PDFCrowd does not support JSON request bodies. Postman’s form-data mode supports text fields and file uploads, and supplies the appropriate content type. For a file upload, allow Postman to generate the multipart header and boundary; do not type a replacement multipart Content-Type header yourself. Choose how to send the PDF
Provide exactly one input: a URL or a local file. Both routes use the same POST request and the form-data body.

For URL input, a page that requires login or returns an HTML login screen is not a usable PDF source. For file input, the selected document must be a valid PDF. PDFCrowd’s HTTP guide describes both input routes.

Send the request and read the response
Click Send. First check the HTTP status, then inspect Content-Type and the response body. PDFCrowd documents 200 OK for a successful conversion; the body contains HTML or ZIP bytes.
text/htmlindicates an HTML response.application/zipindicates a ZIP response. By default, resources such as images, stylesheets, and fonts are embedded. Resource-separation options orforce_zip=truecan make the result a ZIP instead.
For a first test, leave resource options at their defaults. If Postman displays binary content awkwardly, save the response to a file and open the resulting HTML or ZIP with an appropriate application. PDFCrowd specifically advises checking the HTTP status before processing the body; see its HTTP API guide.

Fix common request and response problems

| Missing input or request data | The body mode or field names are wrong, or neither input field is present. | Set Body to form-data; check the exact field names and values; supply either url or file. |

Can I send a JSON body to PDFCrowd’s PDF-to-HTML endpoint?
No. The endpoint expects form fields; use Postman’s form-data body mode.
Why did my response download as a ZIP instead of HTML?
Resource-separation settings or force_zip=true can produce ZIP output rather than HTML.
