Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo screenshot several pages with ScreenshotOne, send one POST request to https://api.screenshotone.com/bulk and put each page in its requests array. A bulk request can contain up to 20 items. Set shared screenshot defaults in options, override them on individual items when needed, and use execute: true if you want ScreenshotOne to render the screenshots before the bulk call returns.
Send a bulk screenshot request
The bulk endpoint accepts a JSON body containing an access key and a requests array. Each item can specify a URL, HTML, or Markdown source. The example below uses URLs, sets a shared viewport, and overrides an option for one page.
{
"access_key": "YOUR_ACCESS_KEY",
"execute": true,
"options": {
"viewport_width": 1280,
"viewport_height": 1024
},
"requests": [
{ "url": "https://example.com" },
{ "url": "https://example.org", "block_ads": true }
]
}
This request shape illustrates the documented fields; adapt the options to the pages you capture. Keep a real access key out of published code, source control, and public unsigned URLs. ScreenshotOne supports sending the key in the JSON body, query string, or X-Access-Key header; for application code, load it from an environment variable or secrets manager.
cURL
Set SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY in your shell environment before running this command. It sends the key in the JSON body and prints the endpoint response.

curl -X POST "https://api.screenshotone.com/bulk"
-H "Content-Type: application/json"
-d "{"access_key":"$SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY","execute":true,"options":{"viewport_width":1280,"viewport_height":1024},"requests":[{"url":"https://example.com"},{"url":"https://example.org","block_ads":true}]}"
Python
Install the HTTP client with python -m pip install requests, set the environment variable, then run:
import os
import requests
access_key = os.environ["SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY"]
payload = {
"access_key": access_key,
"execute": True,
"options": {"viewport_width": 1280, "viewport_height": 1024},
"requests": [
{"url": "https://example.com"},
{"url": "https://example.org", "block_ads": True},
],
}
response = requests.post(
"https://api.screenshotone.com/bulk",
json=payload,
timeout=300,
)
response.raise_for_status()
print(response.json())
The timeout is a client-side allowance, not a guaranteed rendering duration. Increase or otherwise tune it for your own workload if the batch needs longer to complete.

Node.js
With a Node.js runtime that supports fetch, set SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY in the environment and run:
const payload = {
access_key: process.env.SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY,
execute: true,
options: { viewport_width: 1280, viewport_height: 1024 },
requests: [
{ url: 'https://example.com' },
{ url: 'https://example.org', block_ads: true },
],
};
const response = await fetch('https://api.screenshotone.com/bulk', {
method: 'POST',
headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json' },
body: JSON.stringify(payload),
});
if (!response.ok) {
throw new Error(`Bulk request failed: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
}
console.log(await response.json());
Choose when screenshots should render
Bulk requests have two useful execution patterns. The default response is an array of screenshot URLs, but the rendering is lazy: a screenshot is taken when its returned URL is downloaded. This can suit workflows that want to retrieve results only when needed. If you need the endpoint to execute each screenshot as part of the bulk request, set execute: true. Allow time for all items to finish; the response then includes execution status for each request, and failed items include an error body.

| Pattern | When rendering happens | What to expect from the bulk response |
|---|---|---|
| Default (lazy) | When each returned screenshot URL is downloaded | An array of screenshot URLs; the initial response does not mean the images have already rendered. |
execute: true |
During the bulk request | Per-request execution status, with an error body for failures. Allow time for the batch to complete. |
Use shared options and per-page overrides
Put settings that should apply to most pages in the top-level options object. Add an option to an individual request when that page needs a different value; for example, the second item above enables block_ads while inheriting the shared viewport. Items may use a URL, HTML, or Markdown source, so one batch can contain different input types where your workflow calls for them.
Each bulk request is limited to 20 requests. For a larger list, split it into batches of 20 or fewer. Avoid launching all batches at once without considering your account’s request-start allowance.

Consider optimize only for a matching workload
ScreenshotOne supports optimize: true with execute: true. The vendor describes it as a possible speed improvement when capturing the same source with different options, not a guaranteed acceleration. Changing the viewport can trigger reloads, and options such as ad blocking can also require page reloads. Compare results using the actual pages and settings in your workload before relying on it.
Throttle batches and make retries recoverable
Bulk calls use the same one-minute request-start bucket as regular screenshot calls. Check the usage endpoint at https://api.screenshotone.com/usage for concurrency.remaining and concurrency.reset before draining queued work. These values describe the request-start bucket; they are not a count of render processes currently active.

Small workloads
For a small workload in one running process, use a queue and retry/backoff for failed work rather than firing every batch at once. Pace batch starts using the usage values.
Multiple workers or restart-safe retries
If retries must survive a worker restart, or multiple workers share the work, use a durable queue such as Redis/BullMQ or SQS. Track which inputs have completed so a retry can resume unfinished work instead of blindly repeating successful items.
Use async delivery when the caller should not wait
If the application should not hold a request open while screenshots render, ScreenshotOne also describes an asynchronous workflow that can upload screenshots to S3 and send execution results to a webhook URL. This is a better fit for longer-running or background jobs than expecting a user-facing request to wait for an entire batch.
Troubleshoot common bulk-capture problems
- The request is rejected or does not authenticate: confirm the key is present in the JSON body, query string, or
X-Access-Keyheader, and that your application is loading the intended secret rather than an empty environment variable. - A batch is too large: reduce each
requestsarray to 20 items or fewer and submit additional batches through a paced queue. - The initial response contains URLs but no finished images: this is expected with lazy execution. Download the returned URLs to trigger rendering, or submit the batch with
execute: truewhen you need execution during the call. - A call with
optimizedoes not get faster: optimization is workload-dependent. Test with the same URLs and options you use in production; viewport changes and ad-blocking settings can prompt reloads. - Requests stall or are throttled while draining a queue: read
concurrency.remainingandconcurrency.resetfrom the usage endpoint and pace request starts accordingly. Do not interpret those values as active renderer counts. - Some items fail within an executed batch: inspect the status and error body for each item, then retry failed work with backoff instead of treating the whole batch as uniformly successful.
