Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →First check whether the cloud encoder stopped sending video; then check whether YouTube still considers the scheduled broadcast upcoming, live, or ended. If the encoder job expired but the YouTube event is still usable, restart or recreate the job and confirm a preview reaches Live Control Room. If YouTube shows the broadcast has ended or is unavailable, schedule a new event if the controls do not let you continue. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings govern how YouTube responds to the encoder feed; they do not keep a third-party cloud encoder session alive.
Why the stream stopped
A scheduled YouTube event and a scheduled cloud-encoder job are separate things. The event creates a scheduled viewing page, but the encoder must still send video to YouTube using the stream URL and key. YouTube’s setup instructions describe starting the encoder and waiting for a preview in Live Control Room before going live: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
If the cloud encoder’s scheduled session reaches its configured end or expires, it may stop sending video even though the YouTube event remains listed. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls respond to transmission from the encoder; they do not renew or extend a third-party provider’s job. The cause of expiry and the correct restart control depend on the encoder provider, plan, job settings, and logs.
Restore the broadcast in this order
- Check the encoder job. Open the cloud encoder’s dashboard and inspect the job or session status: running, expired, failed, or stopped. Review its logs, scheduled duration, configured end time, and any billing or resource-limit notices. If it has stopped, use that provider’s controls to resume it or create a replacement job. The exact control is provider-specific.
- Check the YouTube event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and select the scheduled broadcast. Check whether a preview is arriving and whether YouTube labels the event upcoming, live, or ended. A stopped encoder means YouTube may no longer be receiving video; an event marked ended may not be usable for the planned broadcast.
- Review the event’s auto-start and auto-stop settings. YouTube says these settings let you start or stop streaming from the encoder. They affect YouTube’s response to the feed, not the cloud job’s schedule. The API documentation says auto-stop stops a broadcast around one minute after the channel owner stops sending video to the bound stream; it is not an immediate or guaranteed session-renewal mechanism. See Manage live stream settings and the YouTube LiveBroadcasts API reference.
- Restart the encoder and confirm the preview. If the existing event remains usable, restart or recreate the cloud job with the correct YouTube stream configuration. Confirm that video appears in Live Control Room before relying on the broadcast being live. YouTube’s documented encoder workflow may require you to click Go live after the preview arrives, depending on the event’s settings and workflow.
- Create a new event if needed. If Live Control Room shows the broadcast ended or does not offer the action you need, schedule a replacement event and configure the encoder for it. The public YouTube guidance does not establish a universal rule that every explicitly ended broadcast can be reopened on the same page.
Prevent another session-expiry interruption
- Set the cloud job’s scheduled duration and end time to cover the full planned broadcast, including any setup or transition time.
- Check the provider’s expiration policy, billing or resource limits, and job logs before the next run. Add monitoring or an alert early enough to act before the session ends.
- Test the encoder feed before the public start. Verify that the correct stream URL and key are configured and that YouTube receives a preview.
- Check the YouTube event’s auto-start and auto-stop choices rather than assuming they schedule the encoder. YouTube notes that reuse settings copies the selected choices, so review them on each event.
- Make clear which system is responsible for starting and stopping the encoder job. Scheduling a YouTube event does not, by itself, schedule a third-party cloud encoder.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your broader need is to keep uploaded video running as a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube. Visit StreamNeo or start your free day.
