You can instead use cloud playout to avoid leaving a local computer on. Before you start, confirm the channel can livestream and that you have the rights to every part of the recordings.
Choose how to play out the lessons
With local playout, OBS sends the feed from your computer. It is a straightforward choice if you can leave that machine and its internet connection running and monitor the stream. OBS supports a looping media file or a playlist built with its VLC Video source.
Cloud playout generates the encoder feed in a service rather than on your computer. YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos, but that listing is not an independent review of its reliability, pricing, or features. Verify current terms and playlist controls with the provider.

Check channel eligibility and prepare your lessons
Confirm livestream access before launch day
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction. Its live-stream tips specify no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time livestream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so check access early in YouTube Studio rather than waiting until the planned start.
Prepare a file or ordered playlist
In OBS, add a single lesson with a Media Source and enable its Loop option. For a sequence of lessons, add a VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. OBS’s VLC source requires VLC installed; if you use 64-bit OBS, install the matching 64-bit VLC version. Arrange lessons in the order you want viewers to encounter them, and check that the files play through with their audio before going live.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Create the encoder stream: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Enter the connection details in OBS: Open OBS settings for the stream service, choose the YouTube/RTMPS connection option available in your version, and enter the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. YouTube identifies the stream key as the credential that lets an encoder send the feed; treat it like a password and do not share it.
- Preview before publishing: Start streaming from OBS and wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check the picture, audio, and event/watch page visibility before making the stream public or beginning the scheduled event.
- Monitor while it runs: YouTube recommends continuous audio and video monitoring. Keep an eye on the Live Control Room and the OBS output, and have a person or alerting process able to respond if the feed, sound, or connection fails.
YouTube’s interface labels can change, so use the current Live Control Room prompts for the stream’s server URL and key rather than reusing a key without checking which event it belongs to.
Set expectations for archives and lesson navigation
Do not rely on a 24/7 stream as the lesson archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast, do not promise viewers that YouTube will preserve the full stream. Keep local copies of the lessons and make separate uploads if you need dependable individual lesson pages.

Make individual lessons easy to find
A long live feed is not a dependable replacement for separately navigable lessons. YouTube says DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable on very long streams beyond 12 hours. Publish lessons individually as videos when viewers need to jump directly to a particular tutorial, and use the live stream as continuous programming rather than the sole way to access course material.
Clear rights for every part of each lesson
YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” That applies to more than the code being taught: review music, graphics, slides, screen recordings, embedded clips, and other third-party material in each recording.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can lead to a placeholder replacing the stream, a temporary interruption, or termination. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Resolve permissions and any necessary allowlisting with rights holders before broadcasting; do not assume content cleared for a previously uploaded video is automatically cleared for a live broadcast.
YouTube says creators in the YouTube Partner Program can monetize live streams, but that does not establish that a particular channel qualifies or that repetitive prerecorded lessons meet current monetization policies. Do not budget on earnings or assume approval without checking the current requirements for your channel.

Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification and whether a restriction applies. If livestreaming has only just been enabled, allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- OBS does not show the playlist source or lessons do not play: Install VLC for OBS’s VLC Video source and match the VLC architecture to OBS (for example, 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS). Check that the source points to the intended files and that Loop Playlist is enabled.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Recheck the server URL and stream key against the current event in Live Control Room. A key is a sending credential, so keep it private and replace it if it has been exposed.
- The stream is interrupted after a rights match: Review the live content for third-party material and resolve the rights issue. If you already have a license, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID.
- A viewer cannot rewind far enough or the archive is missing: Very long streams can have limited or unavailable DVR rewind, and streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. Use individual lesson uploads for navigation and keep your own source files or archive copies.
- The stream goes unattended or the feed degrades: YouTube recommends continuous monitoring. Arrange coverage for audio, video, and connection checks rather than assuming a 24/7 broadcast will recover without someone noticing.
