For ongoing free compute, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Always Free is the clearest documented candidate—but it is not a guaranteed free Indian streaming server. OCI requires you to provision in your tenancy’s home region, and capacity shortages or idle-instance reclamation can get in the way. Google Cloud’s offer is less suitable for a permanent stream: its $300 credit is a 90-day trial, while its always-free VM is limited to specified US regions and a small outbound-transfer allowance. If you want managed playback rather than a free VM, StreamNeo is the first service to consider, but only its first day is free; it is not an ongoing free plan.
Which option fits a continuous Indian music stream?
It helps to separate three different meanings of “free cloud service”: an ongoing free compute allocation, temporary trial credit, and a hosted streaming service with a limited free trial. They do different jobs. A VM gives you a server on which you must arrange playback, streaming software, monitoring, and recovery. A managed service can handle looping uploaded videos, but may charge after its trial.

The ranking distinguishes a managed streaming service from free compute. StreamNeo ranks first among ways to keep a YouTube stream running because it removes server operation from the job, but it is not an ongoing free service. If “free” means no recurring charge, OCI is the stronger candidate to investigate, subject to the conditions below.
What OCI Always Free actually gives you
Oracle documents a monthly Always Free Ampere A1 allowance of 1,500 OCPU hours and 9,000 GB-hours. Oracle describes that as equivalent, for Always Free tenancies, to 2 OCPUs and 12 GB of memory. Eligibility and allocation conditions apply, and resources must be created in the tenancy’s home region. These figures describe compute quota; they do not guarantee that a suitable instance will be available or that it can carry your particular stream continuously.

Provisioning and availability risks
- Home-region constraint: you cannot treat the allocation as a way to freely choose an Indian region. Your tenancy’s home region determines where the Always Free resources must be created.
- Capacity can run out temporarily: Oracle says an “out of host capacity” error means there is a temporary lack of Always Free shapes in the home region. It is not evidence that another region is available to you under the same allocation.
- Idle instances may be reclaimed: Always Free instances can be reclaimed under Oracle’s stated utilization criteria. Do not assume that a lightly used server is reserved forever just because it was created successfully.
- Streaming performance is unproven by the quota: the published compute allocation does not establish network route quality to YouTube, sustained upload capacity, or uninterrupted service for an Indian music stream.
Before relying on OCI, confirm that you can provision the instance in your home region, understand Oracle’s current idle-instance conditions, and test the workload at the bitrate and resolution you actually intend to send. Treat a successful one-time test as evidence about that test—not a promise of ongoing capacity or uptime.
Why Google Cloud’s free offer is not a permanent-stream solution
Google’s offer combines a time-limited trial with a narrower always-free VM allowance. Eligible new users can use $300 of trial credit for 90 days; this is not an indefinite credit balance. Separately, the listed always-free Compute Engine allowance is one e2-micro VM in one of three specified US regions, with 1 GB of monthly outbound transfer from North America.

That distinction matters for an always-on stream: using trial credit can defer charges while you test, but it does not make the setup free after the trial period. The always-free VM is not in an Indian region, and its documented outbound allowance is small for continuous video transmission. Do not assume that trial credit covers a permanent stream or that the free VM’s allowance will cover your actual egress.
Estimate the stream’s data use before choosing a VM
Continuous upload can consume substantial data even when the video is already encoded. As a planning calculation, a constant stream rate of 1 Mbps sends about 10.8 GB in 24 hours, or about 324 GB in 30 days, before protocol overhead. Multiply those estimates by your stream’s Mbps rate: for example, 2 Mbps is about 648 GB over 30 days. These are arithmetic estimates, not an allowance promised by OCI or Google Cloud.

For any candidate server, check separately:
- whether outbound transfer is capped or billable and how the provider counts it;
- whether the VM can sustain the chosen upload rate at all hours, not just during a short test;
- whether the server’s route to YouTube remains stable from the region you are allowed to use;
- whether your playback and encoder setup can restart automatically after a process or connection failure; and
- whether billing, account verification, or card requirements apply even when compute is within a free allowance.
Neither provider’s documented free allocation proves an individual account will be able to provision a suitable machine or deliver the required sustained upload performance.
Music rights are a prerequisite, not a cloud feature
Cloud hosting does not make a recording legal to broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the streamer to have all necessary rights for the live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants, as well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

YouTube’s Creator Music guidance says tracks available through Creator Music are for long-form videos, not live streams. A Creator Music license should not be treated as permission for a continuous livestream.
Likewise, a traditional or devotional composition may be old while a particular modern recording remains protected. YouTube’s copyright guidance says public-domain duration varies by region and is generally the author’s life plus 50–70 years, but that is broad guidance, not an India-specific legal determination; YouTube also says there is no official comprehensive list of public-domain works. Verify the rights for the actual recording and the territories in which the stream may be available before going live.

How to choose and test without mistaking a trial for a guarantee
- Decide what “free” means for your use. If you need ongoing free compute, investigate OCI’s home-region allocation. If you need a short experiment, Google’s trial credit may help, but plan for the end of its 90-day period. If you prefer managed playback, compare StreamNeo’s first free day with its paid terms.
- Check the region and provisioning first. For OCI, identify your tenancy’s home region and attempt provisioning there; capacity is not guaranteed. For Google’s always-free VM, account for its listed US-only regions rather than assuming an India-region VM is included.
- Calculate your expected egress. Use the actual outbound stream bitrate and hours per month, then check the provider’s current applicable transfer limits and charges. Do not equate a free compute quota with free network traffic.
- Run a representative test. Use the intended playlist, stream settings, and destination. Observe whether the server maintains the upload and whether playback resumes after a controlled restart or dropped connection. A short test cannot establish 24/7 uptime.
- Set up monitoring and recovery. A continuous stream needs a way to detect a stopped encoder or lost YouTube connection and to restart or recover it. Treat “24/7” as an operational goal, not an uptime guarantee from a free allocation.
- Clear the actual music rights before launch. Confirm the relevant rights for every recording and the territories where the live content can be viewed; a cloud provider or YouTube feature does not automatically supply those rights.
