Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThere is no single FFmpeg exit code fix: diagnose the status together with the final FFmpeg log lines and identify which stage of the pipeline failed. Check the input, stream selection, codec, output and option order before changing the command. If the Hindi music stream uses a network input, reconnect options may help with a confirmed network interruption—but they will not fix invalid media, unsupported codecs or an output-server rejection.
Start with the log, not the exit number
FFmpeg moves media through a pipeline: it opens inputs, reads and demuxes streams, selects and decodes them, applies filters, encodes as needed, muxes the output and writes it to the destination. A failure at any of those stages can stop the process. The exit status is useful, but it does not by itself identify the cause; interpret it alongside the final log messages and the stage that failed. See the FFmpeg command-line documentation and FFmpeg error codes.
- Save the exact command and the complete standard-error log from process start through exit. Record the process exit status separately.
- Before sharing logs, redact stream keys, passwords, tokens and private URLs.
- Read upward from the final error message to find the last successful stage. Look for messages about opening an input, reading a stream, selecting or mapping streams, decoding, encoding, muxing or writing the output.
- Check whether the process ended because FFmpeg encountered an error or because it received an exit request. An immediate exit request is different from a media or network failure.
Match the error to the failing stage
| What the log points to | What to check |
|---|---|
| Input will not open | Verify the file path or URL, permissions, credentials and network reachability. Confirm that the intended input is available to the machine running FFmpeg. |
| Invalid data, demuxer or decoder error | Check the actual media format and whether the installed FFmpeg build supports the required demuxer and decoder. A filename extension alone does not establish the contents. |
| No matching stream or missing stream | Inspect the input’s stream layout and correct the stream selection or mapping. Do not assume the audio stream has the same index across different files. |
| Encoder, muxer or option error | Check that the output format and selected codec are compatible, that the build includes the requested encoder or muxer, and that each option is spelled correctly and placed with the intended input or output. |
| Network failure while reading an HTTP input | Confirm an actual transport interruption in the log. If present, consider the HTTP reconnect options described below; first distinguish it from bad credentials or an unavailable URL. |
| Output write or server rejection | Check the destination, authentication and output configuration. Input reconnect settings cannot repair a rejected output connection. |
Check FFmpeg option order
FFmpeg command-line options generally apply to the next input or output, and options are reset between files. Inputs should be specified before outputs. A valid-looking flag can therefore fail to affect the file you intended if it appears in the wrong place. Use the command-line documentation to check where an option belongs; do not rearrange flags at random.
- Identify which input or output a failing option is meant to configure.
- Place input options with that input and output options with that output.
- Check the installed build and its available formats, protocols and codecs if the log says a component or option is unavailable.
Use reconnect options only for confirmed network interruptions
For a network input that actually disconnects, FFmpeg’s protocol documentation describes separate controls for different cases: reconnect, reconnect_at_eof, reconnect_on_network_error, reconnect_on_http_error, reconnect_streamed and retry limits. Consult the FFmpeg protocol documentation for the meaning and syntax of each option, and use only settings supported by your installed version and appropriate to the logged failure.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
These settings address certain input-side interruptions. They do not fix malformed media, a wrong option, invalid credentials, unsupported codecs, missing streams or an output server that rejects the connection. Reconnecting at EOF is also not interchangeable with reconnecting after a network error: choose based on what the input and log actually show.
Verify the version and test the correction
Record the FFmpeg version and build configuration, then compare the command with documentation for that release. The FFmpeg documentation index tracks the newest revision, so options shown there may not apply to an older installed version; the index advises using local or version-matched documentation for older releases.

- Make one change that addresses the error shown in the log.
- Run the exact corrected command and confirm that the previously failing stage succeeds.
- Observe the stream long enough to confirm that it remains connected; a process that starts successfully is not proof of a stable continuous stream.
Common causes and practical fixes
- Bad path, permissions or unavailable URL: correct the location or access settings, then verify that the FFmpeg process can reach the input.
- Media is invalid or unsupported: verify the actual file or stream format and the installed build’s capabilities before changing codecs or containers.
- Wrong stream selection: inspect the input’s streams and adjust selection or mapping to target the intended audio.
- Option applies to the wrong file: move it only after confirming whether it configures an input or output.
- Intermittent HTTP input failure: use only the reconnect behavior that matches the observed network or EOF condition and is supported by the installed version.
- Destination rejects the output: investigate output settings and authentication; input-side reconnect controls do not resolve server rejection.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your Hindi music stream is a prerecorded playlist going to YouTube, StreamNeo is an alternative to maintaining your own FFmpeg process: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI works, as do cards in India; card checkout is available worldwide. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not go live from a camera.
