1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsShort answer: Castr’s free trial lasts seven days, but its published trial terms do not state a separate maximum duration for an ordinary live stream sent to YouTube. The seven-day period applies to the trial account; it is not evidence that one YouTube stream runs for seven days, nor a guarantee of unlimited streaming. Castr does publish trial allowances for its embeddable player: 5 GB of bandwidth and 1 GB of video storage. Those figures should not be treated as YouTube viewer or runtime limits. Castr’s trial-limit article describes the allowances, while its current onboarding guide says dashboard access ends after the seven-day trial unless you subscribe.
What the seven-day Castr trial does—and does not—tell you
The seven days describe how long a new account can use the trial. Castr’s onboarding documentation says dashboard access ends after that period unless the user subscribes. The official trial-limit documentation reviewed does not publish a separate maximum session duration for a live encoder or camera stream to YouTube. That means the documentation does not answer whether a particular long-running YouTube session will remain connected; it does not establish either a seven-day stream cap or unlimited session length.
If you need a continuous event, ask Castr support for written confirmation of the session-duration and destination rules that apply to your account and workflow before relying on the trial.
Published trial allowances and what they apply to
| Allowance or condition | What Castr documents | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Trial period | Seven days for new accounts, according to Castr’s trial and onboarding help articles. | Account access period, not a stated per-stream duration. |
| Player bandwidth | 5 GB for embeddable-player use, according to Castr’s trial-limit article dated April 9, 2024. | The allowance is framed around streaming on websites with Castr’s player. It is not a stated YouTube audience or runtime limit. |
| Video storage | 1 GB, according to the same trial-limit article. | Storage allowance for video; the article does not define it as a YouTube live-session limit. |
| More bandwidth, destinations, or some advanced capabilities | Castr says these require an upgrade. | The trial article does not give a complete current trial destination count or a full trial-versus-paid feature matrix. |
Does the 5 GB allowance apply to YouTube viewers?
Not according to the scope Castr assigns to that figure: its trial article describes 5 GB of bandwidth for embeddable-player use, such as streaming on a website. Do not use it to calculate how long a YouTube stream can run or how many YouTube viewers the trial can serve. YouTube delivery accounting and Castr player bandwidth are distinct questions, and the published allowance does not resolve the former.

For a website embed, Castr’s bandwidth calculator estimates usage from encoded bitrate, concurrent viewers, and event duration. Its example says a 6 Mbps stream uses roughly 2.6 GB per viewer-hour. That is a planning estimate for player delivery, not a YouTube-specific trial rule; the calculator also cautions that it does not account for other plan restrictions.
Live YouTube input and TV Playout are different workflows
Live encoder or camera sent to YouTube
This is the relevant workflow if you are broadcasting a live source through Castr to YouTube. Castr’s published trial article does not state a separate YouTube live-session cap. It also does not provide enough information to promise an uninterrupted session of any particular duration. Confirm the current trial destination access and session behavior with Castr if those details are critical.

Scheduled prerecorded content through TV Playout
Castr’s TV Playout guide, dated July 13, 2026, says Trial, Starter, and Standard plans do not support Loop mode. This restriction concerns repeating scheduled media through TV Playout. It is not evidence that a direct live camera or encoder stream to YouTube has the same restriction. File counts, file sizes, per-file duration, and loop horizon are plan-specific considerations for a TV Playout channel; do not infer them from the ordinary live-stream trial terms.
How to test before depending on the trial
- Choose the workflow you will actually use. Test a live encoder/camera path if that is your production method; do not substitute a TV Playout test and assume its loop rules apply to live input.
- Set up a private test on YouTube. Castr’s stream-testing guidance recommends using an Unlisted or Private stream.
- Run the test for the planned event duration. This is operational guidance for checking your workflow, not confirmation that the trial includes an uninterrupted session for that duration.
- Check the outcome and ask about unresolved limits. Verify that the destination receives the stream as expected, then get written confirmation from Castr about any session-duration or trial destination constraints that your planned event depends on.
Paid-plan limits are separate from trial limits
Castr’s pricing page, accessed October 3, 2026, lists Starter at 200 GB per month of player bandwidth, six destinations, and two concurrent streams on monthly billing. Its annual billing display lists 2.4 TB upfront and three concurrent streams. These are paid Starter allocations, not stated trial allowances; plan details and prices can change, so check Castr’s current pricing page before subscribing.

Castr’s March 18, 2026 help article says Starter and Standard streams are automatically disabled when allocated bandwidth is exhausted. It describes overage protection for Premium and higher plans: after rollover bandwidth is exhausted, overage is charged at $0.10 per GB, billed per 1 TB. Those are paid-tier policies, not documented trial overage behavior.
