There is no established universal cricket-to-frog ratio or fixed fader setting for night ambience, so check the meters and a representative recording rather than relying on a preset.
Prepare separate cricket and frog sources
Use one recording for crickets and another for frogs so you can adjust and monitor each bed independently. Before importing either file, confirm that its license permits continuous live transmission, archived playback, and monetization if you intend to monetize. A “royalty-free” label by itself does not establish those permissions.
Compare candidate files by format, channel balance, noise or tonal character, loop seam, and how the sounds interact at the levels you choose. Sound Pack Tree lists loopable stereo examples titled “Night Crickets and Frogs” (0:47) and “Night Frog Orchestra” (1:17), with Colombia metadata. These are catalog examples; the listings do not establish the current license terms or prove permission for a 24/7 commercial stream. Sound Pack Tree
Mix the two beds in OBS
- Add the recordings independently. Import the cricket file and frog file as distinct audio sources, then confirm that both appear in the OBS Audio Mixer.
- Set and adjust their levels. Establish each source level, then play both together and move their mixer faders while listening. Watch the meters and peak indicators: OBS describes red as close to clipping, which distorts audio. The mixer guidance does not prescribe an ideal ambience level or species ratio. - Keep the combined output below 0 dBFS. This is the digital ceiling, not a recommended loudness target. OBS warns that audio at or above the ceiling can clip in a recording or stream. Leave headroom rather than treating 0 dBFS as a level to aim for. OBS Audio Mixer Technical Details
- Check left-right balance. OBS explains that mono audio is heard in both left and right channels, while stereo channels are assigned independently. If a source reaches only one side, the ambience may sound lopsided; check the channel assignment and the file itself. OBS Audio Mixer Guide
- Monitor and record a test. Listen to the output while adjusting, then record a representative sample and listen back before going live. Change the faders if one species masks the other, the balance feels distracting, or the signal approaches clipping. Monitoring headphones can help with close listening, but OBS does not require a particular headphone type or brand.
- Check the loop and transitions. Listen across the actual loop seam and over a longer sample for abrupt cuts or conspicuous repetition. No cited guidance establishes a suitable loop duration or guarantees that a catalog file loops seamlessly.
Clear the rights before broadcasting
YouTube Studio’s Audio Library offers music and sound effects. YouTube says its Audio Library content is copyright-safe on YouTube; tracks marked Creative Commons require attribution in the video description. YouTube also says it is not responsible for issues arising from other libraries and that only Audio Library content is known to YouTube as copyright-safe. YouTube Audio Library guidance

For any other recording, read the license for that specific file. Confirm permission for live transmission, VOD or archived playback, monetization, territories, attribution, and any restriction on standalone redistribution. A catalog entry or sound-effect title is not a substitute for those terms.
Run a continuous stream without assuming it cannot fail
A 24/7 broadcast still depends on the streaming setup remaining active and the source material being authorized. Continuous broadcasting alone does not guarantee uninterrupted operation. If you use a computer-based setup, monitor the live output and be prepared to investigate a stopped stream, an audio imbalance, or a loop that becomes noticeable over time.
