To convert HTML your application has already generated, send it in the html field of an authenticated JSON POST request to https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate. On success, the response body is the PDF as binary data—not JSON—so save or stream those bytes as a .pdf file. You do not need to publish the markup at a URL first.
Send raw HTML in the html field
Html2Pdf.app accepts either raw HTML markup or a publicly reachable page URL in the required html property. For markup already assembled in your application, use a JSON POST request. This avoids URL-encoding long HTML as a query parameter, which the vendor documentation advises against for raw markup and long template values. See the API documentation.
Build the HTML string first, then let your language’s JSON serializer encode it. That safely handles quotes, line breaks, and other characters that would otherwise break a hand-built JSON body. Keep the API key in server-side code or a trusted job and send it as X-API-Key; do not expose it in browser JavaScript or a public repository.

Use the API from application code
JavaScript with Node.js
Use JSON.stringify so the HTML is correctly encoded. The example checks the HTTP status before writing the binary response:

Read the successful response as bytes. Do not call response.json() on the PDF body.

Page layout
The API documentation describes options for paper format or dimensions, orientation, margins, and screen or print media mode. These settings determine page geometry and which CSS media rules apply. Set them explicitly when the output must match a document layout, and verify the current parameter reference for accepted values and limits before relying on a particular setting.

Synchronous response or callback
For a straightforward conversion, use the synchronous request: a successful response contains the PDF bytes. For background processing, the documentation describes adding callBackUrl. The service responds with 202 Accepted for the queued job, then POSTs to the callback URL with the PDF base64-encoded in document. Callback delivery may be retried, so make the receiver idempotent—for example, record a job identifier and avoid storing or processing the same completed job twice. Use a callback only when your workflow needs asynchronous delivery.
Troubleshoot errors and unexpected output
HTTP 400: invalid parameter or inaccessible source
The vendor maps 400 to an inaccessible source URL or invalid parameter. For raw markup, check that the JSON is valid and that option names and values match the current API reference. If you are supplying a URL instead, confirm that the rendering service can reach it. Correct the request before retrying.

HTTP 401: missing or invalid API key
Check that the key is present in the X-API-Key header, is valid, and is being read by the server process that makes the request. Do not work around the issue by placing the key in client-side code.
HTTP 403: plan limit
The documentation associates 403 with a current-plan limit. Check your account’s applicable limits before retrying; repeating an unchanged request will not resolve a plan restriction.
HTTP 500: server error
The vendor identifies 500 as an unhandled server error. Preserve the response details for diagnosis and retry according to your application’s error policy rather than treating the response body as a PDF.

Blank PDF, missing styles, or missing assets
Html2Pdf.app says it renders with headless Chromium. CSS media mode, available fonts and other resources, and JavaScript timing can affect the output. Check that linked CSS, fonts, and images are reachable by the rendering service, choose the intended screen or print mode, and ensure JavaScript has enough time to produce the content before capture. A local browser rendering successfully does not by itself establish that the remote renderer can access the same resources.
A file was written, but it is not a usable PDF
Check the HTTP status before saving the response, and write the successful body in binary mode. Error responses can contain text or structured error details; saving one with a .pdf extension does not make it a PDF.
Try the request interactively before automating
