To use Streamlabs Cloudbot on YouTube, enable it in the Streamlabs dashboard, add the Streamlabs channel as a moderator in YouTube Studio, then configure commands and moderation. Streamlabs says your YouTube stream must be public for Cloudbot to join and respond; private or unlisted streams are not suitable for testing.
Before you set up Cloudbot
Sign in to your Streamlabs account. If you use more than one supported platform, Streamlabs recommends linking your channels under Account Settings > Platforms. Cloudbot itself is configured from the Streamlabs web dashboard.
Keep the YouTube channel and Streamlabs account you intend to use accessible. You will need to grant the Streamlabs channel moderator access in YouTube Studio so the bot can participate in chat.
Enable Cloudbot and connect it to YouTube chat
- Open Cloudbot in Streamlabs. In the Streamlabs dashboard, select Cloudbot, then choose Enable Cloudbot.
- Add Streamlabs as a moderator. In YouTube Studio, open Settings > Community and add the Streamlabs channel as a moderator. Follow Streamlabs’ Cloudbot setup guide for the moderator channel it identifies.
- Test during a public stream. Start or use a public YouTube live stream and check whether Cloudbot joins chat. Streamlabs says the stream needs to be public for the bot to join and trigger commands. Do not rely on a private or unlisted test.
Configure chat commands
In the Streamlabs dashboard, open Commands. You can use built-in commands or create your own; the main difference is whether you want a ready-made response or a response tailored to your channel.

Enable and edit built-in commands
Toggle on the default commands you want. Edit their responses or permissions as needed. Permissions differ by command, so check whether each one is available to viewers or restricted to moderators before relying on it.
Create a custom command
Open the Custom tab to create a command with custom text, templates, or variables. Choose a memorable command name and set its permissions deliberately. Streamlabs describes command setup for both YouTube and Twitch in its chat commands guide; the exact command permissions still depend on the command’s configuration.

Choose moderation protections
Open Mod Tools in the Cloudbot dashboard. You can choose a Protection Level preset or enable individual protections, including controls for caps and links, then adjust the strictness of the relevant tool. A preset is a quicker starting point; individual controls give you more say over which chat behaviors to restrict. Check how the selected settings affect ordinary viewer messages before leaving them active.
Add timers, loyalty features, or media sharing (optional)
These features are additions to basic command and moderation setup, not requirements for Cloudbot to participate in chat.

Schedule chat messages with timers
Timers post configured messages according to an interval and a minimum chat-line condition. Set both values to suit your stream so messages do not appear when chat is inactive or arrive more often than intended. Streamlabs’ Cloudbot 101 guide covers timers and related queue and quote features.
Use viewer loyalty and rewards
Cloudbot includes viewer loyalty and reward features. Treat these as optional engagement tools: configure the rewards and any associated requirements to fit how you want viewers to participate.

Enable media sharing cautiously
Cloudbot can integrate viewer song or video requests. Its media-sharing controls include a protection level, queue limit, maximum duration, per-user request limit, skip votes, and a music-only setting. Set each safeguard before accepting requests, and consider the rights to requested material; a viewer request does not itself establish that you may rebroadcast the content.

Troubleshoot Cloudbot on YouTube
