Choose the business-or-other-name option if you want a distinct identity or shared management through a Brand Account. YouTube says one Google Account can manage up to 100 channels, though you use only one channel at a time.
Before you create the channel: choose who it represents
You do not need a second Google Account just to create a second YouTube channel. The important choice is whether the channel should use your personal Google Account identity or have a separate identity and management arrangement.

YouTube describes the choices as “Create a personal channel” and “Create a channel with a business or other name”. If you grant someone owner access to a Brand Account, choose carefully: owners can take full actions, including deleting the channel and removing other owners. Create your second YouTube channel
- Sign in to the right Google Account. Open YouTube on a computer or the mobile site and sign in with the account that should manage the new channel.
- Open the channel creation flow. For a personal channel, select your profile picture, open Settings, go to Account, and choose Add or manage channel(s).
- Create the channel. Select Create a channel, choose a profile picture, enter the channel name and handle, and select Create channel.
- For a separate brand identity, use the business-or-other-name route. Go to the channel list and choose to create a new channel. Enter its profile picture, name, and handle, then create it. YouTube says this creates a new Brand Account. If you already manage the Brand Account you intend to use, select it. If that Brand Account already has a channel, YouTube switches you to that channel rather than creating another one on the same Brand Account.
- Confirm which channel is active. Select your profile picture, open Switch account, and select the new channel. Check its displayed name and icon before uploading, commenting, or changing settings.
Follow YouTube’s current channel creation instructions if a label or screen differs. YouTube notes that a supervised experience may prevent channel creation.

Switch between your channels
YouTube says one Google Account can manage up to 100 channels, but you can use only one at a time. To change the active channel on desktop, select your profile picture, choose Switch account, and pick the channel you want. The same check is useful before publishing or commenting on mobile: confirm the name and icon shown for the active account. See YouTube’s channel-switching instructions.
If a channel is missing from the list
- Try switching through YouTube Studio, as YouTube recommends.
- If it is a Brand Account channel, confirm that the Google Account you signed in with is listed as a manager. Without that access, the channel may not appear as an option.
Creating a channel is not the same as transferring one
You do not need to move your existing channel to add a second channel. A transfer is a separate process, and YouTube advises doing it only when necessary. In particular, replacing a destination Brand Account channel can permanently delete that channel’s videos, comments, messages, playlists, and history; other information, such as watch and search history, may also be lost. If you truly need to transfer a channel, verify the source and destination identities, ownership, and replacement prompt before proceeding. After creation: build the channel for its intended use
Once the channel exists, you can customize it and publish videos separately from your original channel. Creating the channel itself does not require a microphone, camera, or other equipment. Choose production equipment only if it suits the videos you plan to make.
