The best live streaming software for a remote team depends on the event: StreamYard is a candidate for guest-led broadcasts produced in a browser, Riverside is worth considering when recording and reuse are priorities, and Zoom Events or Zoom Webinars Plus may fit organizations already using Zoom. These are feature-based recommendations from vendor pages and support documentation, not results of hands-on or like-for-like testing. Microsoft’s stated retirement date for Teams Live Events has passed.

How to choose live streaming software for a remote team

Start with the event format and workflow rather than a feature checklist. A public show with remote speakers, a webinar that needs registration and audience interaction, and an event built around an existing Zoom setup are different jobs. A tool that suits one may add unnecessary setup or fail to match another.

  • Guest access: Find out how speakers join and whether they need to install or configure software.
  • Producer control: Check for the scene and layout control, branding, screen sharing, and media handling your production requires. Consider how much technical skill the operator will need.
  • Audience workflow: Match registration, attendee access, chat, Q&A, and scale requirements to whether the event is internal, public, or ticketed.
  • Distribution: Confirm the destinations supported and whether multistreaming is included or requires an encoder and separate streaming destination.
  • Recording and reuse: Check whether the event is recorded, which tracks and quality are available, and whether editing or clip workflows are included.
  • Team constraints: Account for existing workplace tools, integrations, IT policy, product tier, and plan eligibility.

Before committing, verify current plan limits, supported destinations, and product eligibility on the vendor’s own site. The sources available for this comparison do not establish current prices, full plan limits, reliability benchmarks, or standardized performance results.

Best candidates by remote-team use case

StreamYard: browser-oriented guest-led shows

StreamYard’s product materials describe a browser-based live streaming and recording studio, remote guests, multistreaming to social destinations, local recordings, and its On-Air webinar platform. Those vendor-described capabilities make it a candidate when a team wants a browser-oriented production flow for guest-led broadcasts. They are not independently tested findings; confirm the current plan limits and destinations that matter to your event.

Riverside: webinars with recording and reuse in mind

Riverside’s webinar page describes remote guest speakers, multistreaming, and webinar recording workflows. Its webinar platform guide, published May 13, 2026, is vendor-authored and frames webinar tools around hosting live events, registration, engagement, and recording for reuse. Riverside is a candidate if turning a live session into reusable material is important. Verify the current plan limits and treat the comparison guide as the vendor’s perspective.

Zoom Events or Zoom Webinars Plus: Zoom-centered event workflows

For teams already working in Zoom, an event-specific workflow may be relevant. Zoom’s support documentation says that incoming RTMP livestreaming to a Zoom Event is currently supported only on Zoom Events and Zoom Webinars Plus. It gives OBS and vMix as examples of third-party tools that can produce the incoming stream. See Zoom’s RTMP livestream setup guidance and check the product tier and event configuration before planning around this workflow. Do not assume the same RTMP setup is available in all Zoom plans or meetings.

Teams Live Events: do not choose it as a current default

Microsoft Support states that “The Teams live event experience is retiring on June 30, 2026.” That date is in the past as of October 3, 2026, so Teams Live Events should not be presented as an active default. The cited page does not establish all replacement or migration details; consult Microsoft’s current Teams live events guidance for current direction.

When StreamNeo is—and is not—the right kind of tool

StreamNeo serves a different use case from the guest-led production and webinar tools above. It keeps a YouTube channel live 24/7 by looping uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud; it does not take a live camera feed or replace software for producing a remote team’s live event. If your team also runs an always-on YouTube channel from prerecorded video, the workflow is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud continues streaming with your computer off, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.

A practical decision path

  1. Define the event. Decide whether you are producing a guest-led broadcast, a webinar with registration and audience interaction, or an event centered on an existing platform.
  2. Map the audience journey. Write down how attendees register or gain access, which interaction features are needed, and where the event must be distributed.
  3. Choose a shortlist by workflow. Consider StreamYard for browser-oriented guest-led production, Riverside when webinar recording and reuse matter, or Zoom Events / Zoom Webinars Plus when the documented RTMP path suits your Zoom event.
  4. Confirm eligibility and run a rehearsal. Check current product and plan requirements with the vendor, then test guest joining, screen and media handling, recording, audience access, and the final destination using your actual team setup.
