Streamers can accept crypto donations by sharing a public wallet address or QR code, or by using a crypto payment processor that creates a donation page. To show a donation as an on-stream alert, you will usually need an additional integration: crypto payments do not automatically become ordinary StreamElements or Streamlabs tips. Tell donors the exact asset and network, such as “USDC on Solana,” and wait for a verified, confirmed payment before displaying an alert.
Choose how you want to receive crypto
The right setup depends on whether you want a simple transfer, a payment page, or an alert integrated with your stream.

Set up a donation address or payment page
For a direct wallet transfer
- Create or choose a wallet that supports the asset and network you intend to accept.
- Copy the public receiving address for that exact asset and network. A QR code can make it easier for viewers to scan.
- Label the address clearly wherever you share it. Specify both the coin or token and its network—for example, “USDC on Solana”—rather than naming only the token.
- Make a small test transfer from a separate wallet if practical, then confirm that it arrives in the intended wallet on the correct network.
A public address is safe to share in the sense that it is a receiving address, not a spending secret. Its transactions and balance may be visible on-chain. Never show or share a private key or recovery phrase.
For a crypto donation processor
- Check whether the provider accepts creators in your country and supports the specific asset and network you want to offer.
- Review its current service fees, withdrawal fees, custody model, conversion options, and withdrawal process before publishing a link.
- Create the donation page or link and test a small payment, including how you will identify its final status and move or withdraw the funds.
- Put the accepted asset and network next to the donation link so viewers know what to send.
A September 2026 secondary guide reported a 1% service fee for NOWPayments and 1.5% per donation for OxaPay, plus network fees in the cases described. These are time-sensitive reported figures, not independently verified current prices; check provider pricing and terms directly before choosing a service.

Make confirmed donations trigger a stream alert
Twitch, Kick, StreamElements, and Streamlabs are not described in the available platform guidance as offering native crypto tipping through their ordinary creator donation tools. A crypto payment therefore will not automatically appear as a standard tip alert. The general integration pattern is to accept a payment notification from a processor and have a secure bridge create an alert through the streaming alert service.
- Configure a processor webhook to notify your integration about payment status changes.
- Verify the webhook signature using the processor’s current documentation before trusting the notification. Never treat an unverified request as proof of payment.
- Wait for the processor’s final confirmed or completed payment status—not merely an initiated or pending status.
- Only then call the current StreamElements or Streamlabs API or supported integration to create the alert event. Check live provider documentation for API access, event requirements, and eligibility before deployment.
- Test the entire path, including a failed or pending payment, so an incomplete payment cannot create a false alert. Keep API credentials and webhook secrets off stream and out of public code.
Direct wallet transfers do not normally provide a processor webhook. To alert on them, you need a separate on-chain watcher or integration that can reliably identify the correct transaction and confirmation status. Do not announce an unconfirmed transfer as a donation.

Choose a wallet and protect what you receive
Exchange custody
An exchange account can make conversion and bank withdrawal convenient, but the provider holds the keys and can restrict or freeze access. Availability and withdrawal options vary by country.
Self-custody wallet
A software wallet or hardware wallet gives you control of the keys, which also makes you responsible for recovery. A hardware wallet keeps keys off the streaming PC; it does not eliminate the need to store its recovery phrase safely offline. A hardware wallet is optional, and makes more sense when the balance is large enough that losing access would matter. Ledger and Trezor are examples named in the guidance, not model-specific recommendations.

- Use a donation-only public address where practical, and remember that its activity can be traced publicly.
- Store recovery phrases offline in a secure place. Do not type them into chat, a donation form, or a message to someone claiming to offer support.
- Be alert to malicious links, fake payment screenshots, and requests for your keys or recovery phrase.
Keep records and check tax treatment
Record each receipt with its date and time, asset, network, quantity, value in your local currency at receipt, transaction hash, and donor name when known. Keep records of later sales or conversions as well. Tax treatment depends on your jurisdiction and circumstances, so check your local tax authority or consult a qualified local tax professional.
For U.S. purposes, the IRS says digital assets are property, not currency, and that digital-asset income is taxable. That is a U.S. baseline, not a rule for other countries or individual tax advice.

Do not confuse streamer tips with charity donations
A viewer who gives money to you and you later pass it to a charity has not necessarily made a charitable donation through the streaming platform. Twitch’s charitable donations guidance says money given to a streamer who later donates it is not a charitable donation through Twitch and does not qualify for a tax-deductible receipt on that basis. Twitch recommends its Charity tool or a charity’s direct fundraising tool to avoid confusion and keep the creator from acting as intermediary. If the viewer’s intent is a charitable contribution, direct them to an eligible charity fundraising route rather than calling a personal crypto tip a charitable gift.
Check platform rules and provider terms
Crypto-specific treatment, payment services, regional availability, and API behavior can change. Before publishing a donation link or alert, review current Twitch or Kick terms as applicable, plus the payment provider’s and alert service’s current documentation. General concerns such as scams, malicious links, gambling promotions, and paid-promotion disclosure may still apply even where crypto tips are not singled out by a platform rule.
