Restream is the better-documented choice if you want one prerecorded YouTube livestream to replay automatically. Its scheduled prerecorded-event workflow supports up to 10 plays of a video, subject to a 40-hour maximum for the resulting stream, and Restream lists looping as a paid feature on its Marathon and Media add-on plans. StreamYard can schedule a prerecorded broadcast, but that broadcast ends when its selected video finishes. StreamYard’s separate clip-loop feature works inside an active studio and is not the same as an unattended replaying event.

Which service loops a scheduled prerecorded YouTube stream?

For a scheduled event that repeats while you are away from the controls, choose Restream. Its prerecorded-event workflow lets you set a loop count for one video and start the event automatically at the scheduled time. Restream’s help pages specify a maximum of 10 plays and a maximum resulting stream length of 40 hours. The loop feature is listed for the paid Marathon and Media add-on plans, not as a feature available on every plan. See Restream’s prerecorded-event scheduling instructions and its loop limits.

StreamYard fits a different job: schedule a prerecorded video to play once, or run a staffed live production in which a video clip repeats. Its prerecorded broadcast ends when the selected video finishes; its clip-loop control is for media inside an active studio. Those workflows should not be treated as interchangeable.

StreamNeo: when the goal is a continuing YouTube stream

StreamNeo is #1 for an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos: it runs in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a first day free. It is a separate alternative to the finite scheduled-event workflows below, not a claim that Restream or StreamYard can loop forever.

If the task is simply to schedule a finite event, continue below for the distinctions and settings in Restream and StreamYard. To move an uploaded-video stream to the cloud, start StreamNeo’s free first day.

How Restream’s prerecorded loop works

  1. In Restream, upload or select the video, add the event details, and set the scheduled start time.
  2. Set the loop count, up to 10 plays. Restream says the complete looped event can run for no more than 40 hours.
  3. Select YouTube as a destination and create the event. Restream says the event airs automatically at the scheduled time; YouTube event posts can be created in advance.

Restream’s Upload & Stream feature supports individual videos and playlists, with uploads from desktop or mobile and imports from Descript, Google Drive and Dropbox. Its native loop control applies to a video or recording, not to a playlist. Restream says playlists do not currently loop natively. Its suggested workaround is to duplicate entries in a playlist, up to 40 entries; that is a repeated sequence of playlist items, not the same as the native loop setting. Storage and video-size limits depend on the add-on tier. Details are in Restream’s Upload & Stream help page.

How StreamYard’s two video workflows differ

Scheduled prerecorded broadcast

StreamYard accepts a local upload or a previous StreamYard broadcast or recording, lets you choose destinations and a date and time, then starts the broadcast automatically. The video plays through once and the broadcast ends when it finishes. StreamYard supports YouTube, and its help documentation says these broadcasts can be scheduled up to 365 days ahead. See StreamYard’s prerecorded-streaming instructions.

These broadcasts do not run through the StreamYard studio. You cannot show comments on-stream or control overlays and media assets as you would in a standard live broadcast. StreamYard’s published prerecorded-video requirements include MP4 with H.264 video, upload bitrate up to 10 Mbps, and up to 1080p on paid plans. Maximum duration depends on plan: two hours on Core, four on Advanced, and eight on Teams or Business. Concurrent scheduling limits are also plan-dependent; check the current help page for the limits that apply to your plan.

Looping a clip inside a live studio

In a StreamYard broadcast studio, open the media assets tab and enable Loop for a video clip. The clip repeats until someone manually stops it. This is useful for a holding visual or repeated segment during a broadcast that someone is operating; it does not document a scheduled prerecorded broadcast repeating unattended. StreamYard describes the control in its video clip loop help page. That page does not establish a plan requirement for the clip-loop control, so do not infer that it is available on every plan.

YouTube eligibility, rights and monetization still apply

A streaming service’s loop control does not grant permission to use footage or music. YouTube’s livestream terms require compliance with Community Guidelines and the necessary rights for the livestream, including music rights where applicable. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams as well as other formats: monetized content should be original and authentic, and generic, mass-produced or repetitive content may be ineligible. Neither a looping feature nor a scheduled broadcast guarantees monetization or policy compliance.

YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. These are YouTube eligibility conditions, not special requirements imposed by Restream or StreamYard.

Troubleshooting common looping problems

  • Restream’s loop option is unavailable: Restream lists looping with Marathon and Media add-on plans. Check the plan attached to the account rather than assuming the feature is included with every Restream plan.
  • The Restream playlist does not repeat: Native playlist looping is not supported in the documented workflow. Use the video loop control for one file, or duplicate playlist entries within the documented 40-entry workaround if a finite repeated sequence is sufficient.
  • The Restream event stops sooner than expected: The documented ceiling is 10 plays and 40 hours for the resulting stream. Check the selected loop count and the video duration against both limits.
  • A StreamYard scheduled broadcast ends after one play: That is the documented behavior. The studio clip loop is a separate, manually operated workflow, not a setting that turns the scheduled prerecorded broadcast into a repeating event.
  • A StreamYard upload is rejected or does not meet the expected format: Check that it is MP4 with H.264 video, within the upload bitrate limit, the plan’s resolution and duration limits, and the account’s scheduling allowance. StreamYard’s help page gives current plan-specific details.
  • The YouTube event cannot go live: Check channel verification and any live-stream restriction, then confirm that the video and audio rights are cleared and that the stream complies with YouTube’s guidelines.

Cost and workflow trade-offs

Restream’s native prerecorded looping is a paid-plan feature listed for Marathon and Media add-ons; the exact eligibility and storage or file-size allowances depend on the tier. StreamYard’s prerecorded broadcast limits and scheduling allowances vary by plan, while the cited clip-loop help page does not state which plan includes that control. Confirm current plan terms before subscribing, since vendor limits and plan packaging can change.

Choose between Restream and StreamYard based on whether you need a finite unattended replay or a one-pass scheduled video/live studio production. If the practical requirement is to keep uploaded content running continuously without leaving a home computer on, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative described above.
