For scheduled prerecorded streams, StreamYard’s plan table lists Core at 10 GB and 2 hours, Advanced at 25 GB and 4 hours, and Teams and Business at 25 GB and 8 hours; prerecorded streaming is not available on Free. There is an unresolved conflict about Advanced file size: two other StreamYard help pages say 10 GB. Confirm the current cap with your account interface or StreamYard support before relying on either Advanced figure.
Scheduled prerecorded stream limits by plan
These limits apply when you upload or select a video to run as a scheduled, unattended broadcast. StreamYard’s dedicated limits table lists the following:
| Plan | Maximum file size | Maximum video length | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Not available | Not available | Prerecorded streaming is not listed |
| Core | 10 GB | 2 hours | Available |
| Advanced | 25 GB in the dedicated limits table; 10 GB in two other help pages | 4 hours | Available; confirm the current size limit |
| Teams | 25 GB | 8 hours | Available |
| Business | 25 GB | 8 hours | Available |
The discrepancy is specific to the Advanced file-size cap. StreamYard’s dedicated table says 25 GB, while its prerecorded-stream guide and recommended-formats page say 10 GB. All three list Advanced at 4 hours. The official pages do not resolve which file-size figure is currently enforced, so check your account or ask support if an upload near either limit affects your plan choice.
What counts as a prerecorded stream?
A scheduled prerecorded stream uses a video uploaded to your video library or a previous recording. You choose destinations and a scheduled time, then create the broadcast; it starts at that time and ends when the video finishes, according to StreamYard’s scheduling guide.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This is different from playing a video file locally inside an active studio. StreamYard’s guide to sharing a video in your studio says that feature has no stated file-size or length limit. It is not an unattended scheduled broadcast: the file is shared from your computer while the studio is running, and shared files are removed if you exit or refresh the studio. MP4 and MOV work best for that workflow.
There is also a separate limit for video clips used as media assets. StreamYard’s help article lists clips under 200 MB and under 10 minutes, or up to 1.2 GB and 60 minutes on Business. Those clip limits are not the scheduled prerecorded-stream caps in the table above.

Prepare a file for upload
Being under the plan’s size and duration caps is not the only consideration. StreamYard’s recommended formats and settings page supports MP4 and MOV uploads, recommends H.264 video and AAC audio, and gives a maximum bitrate of 10 MB/s. Its optimization guide recommends MP4, H.264, constant 30 fps, AAC, web optimization (fast start), and aligned audio and video. Treat these as preparation guidance, not substitutes for plan limits.
Check the file before uploading
- Confirm the file is within your plan’s maximum size and duration. For Advanced, verify the current size cap rather than assuming either published figure applies.
- Prefer MP4 or MOV, with H.264 video and AAC audio.
- Check that the bitrate does not exceed 10 MB/s.
- For the optimization guide’s suggested settings, use constant 30 fps, enable web optimization or fast start, and ensure the audio and video are aligned.
- Allow time for large files to upload. StreamYard notes that large uploads can take a long time and suggests compressing them with a tool such as HandBrake.
StreamYard’s optimization guide includes a HandBrake conversion workflow for bringing a file within its supported settings. Compression can help with upload size and bitrate, but check the resulting duration and playback quality before scheduling.

Choose the right workflow
- Use scheduled prerecorded streaming when the broadcast needs to start at a chosen time and run without you playing the file in an active studio. Its plan-specific file and duration caps apply.
- Use studio video sharing when you are already hosting a live studio session and want to play a local video file as part of it. This is not an unattended broadcast, and the shared file does not remain available after the studio is exited or refreshed.
- Check clip limits separately when adding short media assets; the clip caps are different from both workflows above.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with prerecorded videos around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live.
