Host a safe crypto webinar by securing access, limiting what participants can share, setting a clear recording policy, and keeping the presentation educational and cautious about investment claims. Treat the invitation itself as a potential point of risk: the CFTC warns that scammers may use webinars or “personalized help” to build trust before asking for money. Check your platform’s current settings, and get qualified legal advice for a specific offering, sponsor, audience, or jurisdiction.
Plan a webinar that informs without soliciting risky decisions
Decide what the event is for before opening registration. An educational session about blockchain concepts, security practices, or how to recognize fraud is different from promoting a particular asset or asking attendees to invest. The CFTC describes scams that use personal contact and webinar invitations to build rapport before seeking an initial payment and escalating pressure.
- Keep the agenda educational and avoid directing attendees to unsolicited investment opportunities.
- Disclose speaker or sponsor conflicts in a clear, prominent way. The applicable legal requirements depend on the event and jurisdiction; the sources cited here do not establish a universal disclosure rule.
- Do not claim that an investment is guaranteed, risk-free, absolutely safe, or certain to make money. The SEC and CFTC identify such claims as fraud warning signs. The CFTC puts it plainly: “There is no such thing as a risk-free transaction or a guaranteed money-making opportunity.”
This guide is oriented to U.S. consumer-safety guidance. The SEC’s March 2026 interpretation addresses federal securities laws as they apply to certain crypto assets and transactions; it does not make one legal classification applicable to every asset or activity. Get advice from qualified counsel about the specific content and jurisdictions involved.
Choose a conferencing service by checking its safety controls
Do not choose a platform based only on its event features. Review the current version of its privacy policy and settings before collecting registrations. FTC video-conferencing guidance dates to April 2020, and platform features and defaults can change.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Access: Can you restrict attendance to invitees, use a password or unique meeting ID, and admit people through a waiting room or equivalent control?
- Recording: What indicates that recording is active? Where is a recording stored, who can access it, and how can it be shared or deleted?
- Screen sharing: Can the host limit sharing to the host or designated presenters? Can a moderator stop a participant’s share?
- Data practices: What participant information does the service collect, and does it share that information with advertisers or other third parties?
- Updates and moderation: How does the service deliver software updates, and can moderators remove disruptive attendees?
Feature names and defaults vary by service, so confirm the behavior in its current documentation and test it in a rehearsal rather than assuming a control is enabled.
Protect registration information
Collect only details needed to run the event, such as the information required to send access instructions. Explain how you will use those details and who will receive them. Check the platform’s own data practices before using its registration tools. These are practical privacy precautions, not a complete checklist of legal obligations: applicable privacy rules depend on the data, audience, and jurisdictions involved.

Secure access before the session
- Restrict entry to invitees. Enable invite-only access and, if the service offers it, a waiting room or host admission control. Test the attendee experience with a separate account.
- Use fresh credentials. For recurring events, create a new password or meeting ID for each session where the service supports it; avoid reusing old credentials. FTC guidance recommends unique credentials for recurring meetings.
- Update the conferencing software. Install updates from the service’s official channel before the event. FTC guidance and CISA’s general online-safety practices both include keeping software updated.
- Set sharing permissions. Limit participant screen sharing if the service allows it. Decide which hosts or presenters can share and how a moderator will stop an unwanted share.
- Rehearse moderator actions. Have a named moderator ready to admit expected attendees, remove disruptive participants, stop sharing, and direct attendees to verified reporting resources.
Set a recording policy and prepare your screen
Tell attendees what will be recorded
Decide whether recording is necessary. If you plan to record, tell attendees before recording begins, explain who can access the recording and how long you expect to retain it, and make the recording status clear during the session. Do not rely on an on-screen recording indicator alone: the FTC warns that meetings may be recorded or shared without participants’ knowledge and advises people to assume they might be recorded.
Share only what the audience needs to see
Before presenting, close private documents, messages, password managers, and unrelated browser tabs. If your platform supports sharing a single application window, share the presentation rather than your entire desktop. Check the visible content again before showing a browser or wallet interface, and rehearse switching between materials without exposing unrelated information.

Run the session without exposing attendees to crypto scams
- Never request secrets. Do not ask attendees to reveal seed phrases, private keys, passwords, or account recovery codes, whether in chat, on camera, or through a form.
- Explain links and QR codes before displaying them. Say what each one leads to, use official domains, and pause before asking attendees to open anything. The CFTC cautions consumers about links and QR codes in unsolicited communications because they can lead to spoofed sites.
- Reject urgency and guaranteed-return claims. Warn attendees to be cautious of pressure to act immediately, promises of guaranteed profit, and claims that an investment has little or no risk. The SEC/CFTC alert says that claims such as “risk-free,” “zero risk,” “absolutely safe,” and “guaranteed profit” are hallmarks of fraud.
- Warn about escalating payment demands. Scams may ask for more money after an initial payment, including supposed fees or taxes to release profits or recover principal. A request for another payment is not proof that funds will be recovered.
- Prevent impersonation. State which official channels attendees can use to verify follow-up messages from the speakers or organizers. Invite reports of suspicious accounts or messages impersonating the event.
Close safely and follow up
End with a short reminder to verify websites and messages independently, avoid sharing account secrets, and treat guaranteed returns or pressure to send money as warning signs. Provide official reporting directions and a way to report suspected impersonation. The FTC’s 2022 educational webinar description covers scam types and where to report them; the CFTC’s consumer guidance also describes fraud patterns and precautions. Use official agency resources rather than links supplied by an unexpected message.
Troubleshoot common safety problems
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Someone unexpected joins | The event link or credentials may have been shared, or admission controls may not be enabled. | Remove the person, tighten admission settings, and issue fresh credentials if needed. For a recurring event, do not reuse the old meeting ID or password where new ones are available. |
| A participant shares an unwanted screen | Participant sharing is enabled or the moderator is unsure how to stop it. | Use the host controls to stop the share, restrict sharing to designated presenters if possible, and rehearse the control before the next session. |
| Private information appears on screen | A desktop, browser, message, or document was shared unintentionally. | Stop sharing immediately, close the exposed material, and resume with a presentation window if available. Review the recording and its access before distributing it. |
| Attendees are unsure whether recording is active | The recording policy was not explained clearly or the platform’s indicator is not obvious. | Pause and state whether recording is on. Explain access and retention; if recording is unnecessary, stop it. |
| An attendee receives a follow-up asking for money or account secrets | A scammer may be exploiting the event or impersonating a speaker. | Tell the attendee not to send money or reveal credentials, verify the message through an independently confirmed official channel, and report the suspicious contact through appropriate official resources. |
Keep webinar tools separate from 24/7 YouTube streaming
StreamNeo is not a webinar or video-conferencing platform. It is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos; it does not stream a live camera session or replace the access, recording, and moderation controls described above. For that separate use case, see StreamNeo.
