For a 4K (2160p) YouTube Live stream at 30 fps, use a recommended video bitrate of 42 Mbps with H.264 or 30 Mbps with AV1 or H.265/HEVC. YouTube’s listed minimums are 11 Mbps for H.264 and 8 Mbps for AV1/H.265—not the recommended targets. Looping does not have a separate bitrate setting in YouTube’s guidance. YouTube’s bitrate guidance organizes recommendations by resolution, frame rate, and codec.
Recommended bitrate for 4K at 30 fps
| Video codec | YouTube-listed minimum | YouTube recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 | 11 Mbps | 42 Mbps |
| AV1 | 8 Mbps | 30 Mbps |
| H.265 / HEVC | 8 Mbps | 30 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s published ingestion settings for 4K/2160p at 30 fps. The figures are not results from a comparison of encoders, and they do not guarantee a particular visual result for every clip. Choose a supported codec your encoder and streaming workflow can actually deliver.
YouTube’s table does not specify a lower target for repeated, static, or otherwise simple footage. A loop may encode differently depending on its visual content, but that is not a basis for presenting a lower rate as YouTube’s recommendation. If you deliberately test another rate, check both the received stream’s health and its picture quality.
Configure the encoder
- Set the video format: 3840 × 2160 (2160p) at 30 frames per second.
- Choose a supported codec: H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1. Confirm that the encoder and YouTube ingest path support your chosen codec.
- Set the video bitrate: use 42 Mbps for H.264 or 30 Mbps for AV1/H.265 as the recommended target.
- Use constant bitrate (CBR): YouTube’s encoder guidance specifies CBR.
- Set keyframes every two seconds: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- For SDR video, YouTube lists Rec. 709 color space and 8-bit depth in its advanced encoder settings.
- Set audio deliberately: YouTube lists AAC or MP3. For 5.1 surround over RTMP/RTMPS, it supports AAC only.
- Use RTMPS where available: YouTube recommends the secure ingest protocol. Use the stream URL and stream key shown in your YouTube live settings; treat the key as a password and do not share it.
For a continuous loop, make a test using audio and visual movement similar to the planned stream, then monitor YouTube’s stream-health feedback. This can reveal bitrate instability or other delivery problems before relying on the stream.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Calculate the upload capacity you need
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. Its guidance also warns that the stream’s total bitrate must fit within available upload capacity and that other people or devices sharing the connection can reduce what is available to the stream.
A practical estimate is: target upload capacity ≈ (video bitrate + audio bitrate + any backup-stream bitrate) × 1.20. This applies YouTube’s headroom recommendation; it is a planning calculation, not a separately published YouTube threshold.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- For 42 Mbps H.264 video alone: 42 × 1.20 = about 50.4 Mbps.
- For 30 Mbps AV1 or H.265 video alone: 30 × 1.20 = about 36 Mbps.
Those illustrations exclude audio and any backup stream. Add their bitrates before applying the 20% allowance. Plan around reliable, measured outbound upload capacity rather than the advertised download speed, and leave room for normal variation and other network use. A speed test and an actual test stream help assess the connection you intend to use; neither guarantees uninterrupted playback.
What looping changes—and what it does not
“Loop streaming” describes how the video is played, not a separate category in YouTube’s published bitrate table. The table’s relevant variables are codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use the matching 4K/30 codec target rather than assuming repetition permits a lower recommendation.

YouTube’s bitrate guidance says the low-latency option is unavailable at 4K/2160; 4K streams use normal latency. YouTube explains that lower latency can increase playback buffering. Its live settings documentation also describes DVR, which lets viewers pause and resume a live stream. Whether DVR suits a continuous ambience or information loop depends on the viewing experience you want; YouTube does not give loop-specific advice on that point.

If the goal is a 24/7 YouTube stream of uploaded, pre-recorded video, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative to keeping an encoder and home connection running. Create a stream by uploading a recording or building a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud service loops the uploaded video. It does not stream a live camera feed or send streams to other platforms.
