Streamlabs Multistream lets you send one live broadcast to multiple platforms at once. Streamlabs says full multistreaming requires Streamlabs Ultra, while its free Dual Output feature can send one horizontal output to one destination and one vertical output to another. It may suit creators who want to test several audiences or publish in landscape and portrait formats, but chat capabilities vary by platform, account eligibility still applies, and the available sources do not establish independent performance benchmarks.

This is a source-based feature review, not a hands-on test. Streamlabs’ statements about reduced local strain and audience growth are company claims, not independently verified results.

What Streamlabs Multistream does

Streamlabs describes Multistream as a way to broadcast a live stream to several destinations simultaneously. Its product page lists Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, Facebook, Patreon, X (Twitter), Instagram, and additional destinations through custom RTMP connections. Availability and account requirements can differ by platform, so the list does not mean every destination is available to every creator.

According to Streamlabs, its servers receive one stream and forward it to the selected platforms. The company contrasts this with local multistreaming approaches that encode and upload separate versions for each destination. That describes Streamlabs’ stated routing design; the available sources do not provide independent CPU, GPU, bandwidth, uptime, or quality benchmarks proving a performance advantage.

What is free and what requires Ultra?

Feature What Streamlabs says is included Important limit
Dual Output Free use of one horizontal destination and one vertical destination. This is one platform per canvas, not unlimited destinations.
Full multistreaming Streamlabs identifies multistreaming to as many destinations as desired as an Ultra feature. Check Streamlabs’ current plan information for current pricing and terms; the sources cited here do not establish a price.

Streamlabs presents Dual Output as a way to send landscape and portrait versions of a broadcast, rather than simply adding more destinations to the same canvas. Whether a particular platform accepts the format depends on that platform’s rules and the creator’s eligibility.

Destinations, setup, and software options

Streamlabs lists several ways to use Multistream: Streamlabs Desktop, its OBS plugin, Streamlabs Mobile, and dashboard-generated RTMP settings that can be entered in other streaming software. These routes provide different setup paths, but they still require valid platform connections or stream credentials and any necessary platform permissions.

  1. Link accounts: In Streamlabs Desktop, connect the platform accounts you plan to use.
  2. Choose destinations: Open the Go Live window and toggle on the services for the broadcast.
  3. Set platform details: Use the advanced settings for destination-specific information. Streamlabs says title and description can be shared, while categories may need to be selected separately because platforms have different game libraries.
  4. Check eligibility and format: Confirm that each account can go live and supports the chosen output. For example, vertical TikTok streaming depends on TikTok’s own streaming requirements.
  5. Go live and monitor: Check that the intended destinations are receiving the stream and that their individual settings are correct.

For other software, Streamlabs’ dashboard RTMP configuration is the route it identifies for entering stream settings outside its own desktop workflow. Treat stream keys as credentials: use the destination’s current key, keep it private, and replace it if it is exposed.

Chat and audience interaction

Multichat does not provide the same actions for every destination. Streamlabs says users can read and post chat for YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Pages; it lists read-only chat for Kick, X, and Facebook Profiles. Do not assume that every connected service supports posting from one central chat view.

Creators who depend on replying to viewers should verify the specific destination and account type before relying on Multichat. A separate platform window or app may still be needed for services where the integrated view is read-only or where a platform’s permissions differ.

Potential advantages

  • One workflow, several audiences: A creator can test multiple destinations without running a separate live session for each. That can help explore where viewers engage, but simultaneous streaming alone does not guarantee audience growth.
  • Cloud forwarding by design: Streamlabs says its servers forward the incoming stream to selected platforms, which can reduce the need for separate outbound uploads from the creator’s connection. This is the company’s architecture description, not a verified performance comparison.
  • Several software entry points: Desktop, an OBS plugin, Mobile, and custom RTMP settings give creators options depending on their current setup.
  • Free landscape-plus-portrait use: Dual Output has a free use case for one horizontal and one vertical destination, according to Streamlabs.
  • Some centralized chat: For supported services, Multichat can bring messages into one view, with the read-versus-post distinction noted above.

Limitations and points to check

  • Full multistreaming is subscription-gated: Streamlabs says full destination multistreaming requires Ultra. Current pricing and exact plan terms are not established by the cited product and setup materials.
  • Chat coverage is uneven: Posting is listed for some destinations, while others are read-only; account type matters for Facebook.
  • Platform eligibility remains separate: A Streamlabs connection does not override a destination’s own account, format, or streaming requirements.
  • Contracts may restrict simulcasting: Streamlabs advises Twitch Affiliates and Partners to review their contracts because some arrangements may require exclusivity. Only the creator’s own current agreement can determine their obligations.
  • Performance claims are not benchmarks: No independent comparison of reliability, resource use, or stream quality is established here.

Who is Streamlabs Multistream best suited to?

It may fit creators who

  • Already have eligible accounts on more than one destination and want to test where their audience responds.
  • Prefer one control workflow for choosing multiple destinations.
  • Want to publish a landscape and portrait version through the Dual Output approach and meet the destinations’ requirements.
  • Can work with the differences in chat permissions across platforms.

It may be a less clear fit for creators who

  • Have an audience concentrated on one platform and little reason to add others.
  • Need reliable two-way chat for every destination from a single interface.
  • Have not confirmed their account eligibility or any contractual limits on simulcasting.
  • Need independently measured evidence about resource use, uptime, or quality before choosing a routing service.

Audience-growth claims: how to read them

Streamlabs’ product page makes an undated promotional claim that new creators who multistream are twice as likely to reach five or more concurrent viewers. The stated qualification is that the creators had streamed for up to six months and multistreamed at least seven times. The page does not provide a date or methodology for the statistic, so it should be treated as Streamlabs’ claim rather than an independent finding or a prediction for an individual channel.
