Screenshot.rocks creates and exports screenshot mockups; its documented features do not include comparing two captures or detecting changed pixels. To check for visual changes, capture the same page or interface twice under matched conditions, export the images if you have styled them in Screenshot.rocks, and compare the files in a separate image-comparison tool such as Screenshotbot’s PixelDiff.
What Screenshot.rocks can—and cannot—do
Screenshot.rocks is a browser-based editor for presenting screenshots in browser or mobile-device frames. You can choose a background, style or mark up the presentation, and export an image. The product descriptions reviewed do not document a built-in visual-diff feature, so treat it as a mockup editor, not as the tool that identifies changes between two screenshots.
Screenshot.rocks says images are processed in the browser and are not stored on its servers. Its extension guide separately says an extension capture is sent to Screenshot.rocks to open in the editor and is not stored. Those are the vendor’s statements, not an independent privacy audit. If screenshots contain sensitive information, follow your organization’s data-handling rules before uploading or sharing them.
Capture the same view twice
A useful visual comparison starts with comparable inputs. Keep the page or UI state and viewport consistent; otherwise, a difference may reflect the capture setup rather than a product change. Android Developers’ screenshot-testing guidance recommends matching conditions for pixel-perfect comparisons and cautions that a failed image comparison does not, by itself, establish a defect.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Capture a browser tab with the Screenshot.rocks extension
The Screenshot.rocks extension guide says a click captures the visible part of the active tab at the screen’s full resolution and opens it in an editor tab. It does not capture a full page. The guide lists Chrome, Firefox, and Edge support and says there is no Safari extension. Its permission details specifically say Chrome and Edge request only activeTab.
- Open the page and bring it to the UI state you want to compare.
- Set the browser window and page viewport to match the other capture as closely as possible.
- Use the extension to capture the visible tab area. Repeat for the second version or state.
- If you need a full-page capture, use your browser’s built-in capture method, then drop the resulting file into the Screenshot.rocks editor.
Decide whether to compare the page or the mockup
If your question is whether the underlying page changed, compare captures of the page itself. If you are checking a presentation, such as a device frame, background, or markup, style both captures in Screenshot.rocks, export them, and compare those exported files. Keep the purpose consistent: a change to the mockup can appear in the image even when the underlying page is unchanged.

Compare the exported images in a separate tool
Screenshotbot’s PixelDiff is documented as an open-source GUI application for comparing two images or image sets, including images from Git branches. It provides previous, updated, and difference views, plus zoom, pan, and pixel color inspection. It accepts image-file paths, so a Git repository is not required just to compare exported files.
- Export both images from Screenshot.rocks if you are comparing styled mockups; otherwise, use the two page captures.
- Open the image files in PixelDiff. For a branch comparison, select the corresponding images from the branches; for a manual comparison, provide the two file paths.
- Review the previous and updated images, then use the difference view to locate changed regions.
- Zoom in or inspect pixel colors where needed, then decide whether each change is expected. A diff highlights image differences; it does not tell you whether a change is a bug.
PixelDiff is an adjacent comparison tool, not a Screenshot.rocks feature. The available product information does not establish commercial program availability.

Make sense of what the diff shows
First check whether the changed region is the part of the interface you intended to test. Then consider whether the difference could come from unmatched capture conditions—for example, a different viewport or page state. If it is a real UI change, decide whether it is expected before treating it as a defect. Screenshot comparisons are evidence for review, not an automatic verdict on correctness.
- Expected change: record or accept it as the new intended appearance.
- Unexpected change: inspect the affected UI and investigate the underlying page or code.
- Unclear difference: recapture both states with more closely matched conditions before drawing a conclusion.
Manual comparison or automated visual regression?
Opening two files in PixelDiff is a manual review workflow. It can help you inspect a pair of captures, but it is not the same as an automated visual-regression test that compares new output against an approved reference as part of a repeatable test process. Android Developers’ screenshot-testing guidance describes reference images in screenshot tests and notes that a failing comparison does not always mean there is an error. Choose a manual diff for focused inspection; use a screenshot-testing workflow when you need repeatable checks against approved baselines.

Does a highlighted difference prove the page has a bug?
No. A difference view identifies image changes, but you must determine whether they are expected and whether the captures were made under matching conditions.
