Twitch announced that Stream-o-Ween runs October 1–31, 2026. Its listed eligible categories are Horror Games, Sea of Thieves, Hunt: Showdown 1896, Just Chatting, IRL, Art, Music, DJs, Food & Drink, and GRWM. If eligible, select the Stream-o-Ween event tag in Stream Manager and/or OBS while keeping your usual category. The event page offers a chance to be featured, not a guarantee of placement.

Twitch also describes seasonal game events and Drops tied to titles including Phasmophobia, Sea of Thieves, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and World of Tanks. Check the current event page and the relevant game or developer terms before promising viewers a reward; availability and requirements can change.
For viewers watching on different devices, Twitch recommends considering Dual Format, which serves horizontal and vertical viewers in one stream. Twitch reported in its June 17, 2026 Dual Format announcement that 70% of new viewers were coming to Twitch on mobile. That is Twitch’s platform-reported figure, not a prediction of the audience or performance for an individual channel. Check feature access and setup before scheduling around it.

YouTube supports mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming. Choose the workflow that fits the activity: a webcam may be enough for a seated quiz, while a craft or cooking demonstration may need a camera angle that shows the work area. Check network headroom
Use a reliable connection and leave upload bandwidth headroom. YouTube recommends keeping 20% room beyond the total stream bitrate. Check available outbound bandwidth against the bitrate of your complete stream, including any additional output, rather than treating your internet plan’s advertised download speed as the relevant figure.
Test what viewers will actually see and hear
- Set up the camera, lighting, microphone, and encoder well before the event.
- Run a test and preview the stream output. Check framing, focus, lighting, audio levels, and that speech remains clear over any effects.
- Confirm the stream is accessible on a mobile device as well as your production screen.
- Monitor audio and video during the broadcast and keep a way to communicate with a moderator if you are concentrating on the activity.
Set moderation controls before promotion
Decide who will moderate, how viewers can report a problem, and what chat settings fit the expected audience. For its 2025 Fright Fest, Twitch recommended AutoMod level 2, email and phone verification, followers-only mode for at least 10 minutes, and having Shield Mode prepared for use if needed during an influx of viewers. Those were event-specific recommendations, not universal requirements; choose controls for your own community and be ready to adjust them.
Keep personal information private, and block or report inappropriate chat where needed. YouTube’s live-stream safety guidance addresses these protections.
Check rights and safety for the planned content
- Use music and other media only when you own or have permission to share the rights required by the platform.
- Check game streaming terms and guest permissions before going live.
- Plan safe, non-hazardous makeup, cooking, and craft demonstrations. Twitch prohibits streams exclusively focused on extreme or gratuitous gore.
- For audience submissions, explain what you will read or show and moderate submissions before displaying them.
