If Devanagari text is missing from a Microlink screenshot, first check whether the text exists in the page’s DOM, then whether the browser has loaded a font containing those glyphs, and finally whether capture starts before the content or font is ready. These are separate failure modes, so diagnose them in that order rather than assuming Microlink itself is at fault.
1. Check whether the page contains the text
Open the exact URL in a browser and inspect the element that should contain the Hindi or other Devanagari text. In developer tools, check the element’s text content and whether the area is visible. If the text node is absent, changing fonts will not help: investigate the site’s data, JavaScript rendering or hydration, and visibility rules.
If the text exists but appears as empty boxes, blank glyphs, or unexpected substitute characters, continue with font checks. If it appears in a normal browser but not in the screenshot, also check whether the hosted capture reaches the same page state and can load the same resources.
2. Check the selected font and its files
Inspect the text element’s computed font-family, then check the browser’s network panel for the webfont requests used by that element. A family name in CSS does not establish that the corresponding font file loaded, nor that it contains the required Devanagari glyphs. Look for failed or blocked font requests and confirm that the selected file has Devanagari coverage.

If you control the site, a useful diagnostic is to serve an appropriate Devanagari webfont with @font-face and include that family in the element’s font stack. Verify that the remote browser can reach the font URL and that the request completes before capture. This is a general browser-rendering approach, not a Microlink-specific font recipe.
3. Wait for the actual content before capture
For pages that render text asynchronously, wait for a selector belonging to the text-bearing area instead of relying only on a generic page-load event. Choose a selector that appears only when the relevant content is present. A broad selector such as body may exist before the app has populated the text. Microlink’s Browser Automation API documentation also describes scripts and styles for shaping a page before capture.
4. Test whether font readiness is the timing problem
If the text node exists and the font request succeeds but the screenshot still shows fallback glyphs, compare a capture with and without a page script that waits for font readiness. A developer may test document.fonts.ready in an injected script, but the cited Microlink documentation does not establish this as a guaranteed recipe. Validate the behavior against the actual page and capture configuration rather than treating it as a universal fix.

5. Account for Chromium and platform differences
A Chromium source change committed on March 4, 2026 added default font-family mappings for Devanagari. Its Linux mappings specify Noto Sans Devanagari for standard and sans-serif, Noto Serif Devanagari for serif, and Noto Sans Mono for fixed-width. The Chromium change explains that Chromium previously had no configured default Devanagari fonts and could fall back to generic system font resolution.
That change does not identify the Chromium build or installed fonts currently used by Microlink. Do not infer Microlink’s live runtime configuration from Chromium’s source defaults; verify font loading in the capture environment where possible.

Common troubleshooting mistakes
- Changing the font when the text is not rendered: first establish that the text node exists.
- Trusting the CSS family name: confirm the font file loaded and covers Devanagari glyphs.
- Waiting only for the page load: asynchronous apps can add text afterward; wait for a selector tied to the content.
- Assuming a Chromium change proves Microlink’s setup: the source change documents defaults, not Microlink’s deployed browser or installed fonts.
