If you need to preserve a large list of URLs as replayable web records, Browsertrix is the closest fit among the alternatives covered here. BrowserStack Screenshots is aimed at visual checks across browsers and devices: its screenshot files are useful for comparison, but a screenshot alone is not a replayable web archive. Choose based on whether you need visual QA, durable page captures, or both.
First decide what you mean by “archiving”
A screenshot records how a page looked in a particular browser and viewport. A web archive aims to preserve page content and related resources so the capture can be revisited or replayed later. Those outputs serve different purposes: a ZIP of screenshots is not, by itself, an archive of the pages that produced them.
BrowserStack documents a workflow for rendering a URL in selected browser, operating-system, version, and device combinations, then downloading screenshot results. Its cited API describes submitting a URL and creating screenshot jobs; it does not document a bulk URL archiving workflow. See BrowserStack Screenshots API and Automated Screenshots.
- For cross-browser visual regression or design review, BrowserStack Screenshots may still be the right tool.
- For a supplied list of pages that you want captured as portable, replayable records, look at web-archiving tools such as Browsertrix, ArchiveBox, or ArchiveWeb.page.
- If you need both evidence of appearance and replayable content, plan for both outputs; do not treat one as a substitute for the other.
Best alternatives for a bulk URL archive
For a large, known seed list, Browsertrix is the most directly aligned option in the documented capabilities considered here. ArchiveBox suits people who want to manage imports and storage themselves and retain several output formats. ArchiveWeb.page is designed for interactive, local capture as you browse. These are capability distinctions, not measured rankings for speed, success rate, or archive size.

Browsertrix for large seed lists
Webrecorder’s Browsertrix 1.18 release, dated August 11, 2025, added the ability to upload or paste large URL seed lists, replacing the previous 100-URL interface limit. The release says crawls remain subject to the configured maximum pages per crawl, so a large input list does not mean every URL will necessarily fit into one crawl. The release describes the new workflow as making a “huge URL list” work; that is a product statement, not an independent performance guarantee. See the Browsertrix 1.18 release notes.
Browsertrix is the first option to investigate when you have a defined list and want archival outputs rather than screenshot files alone. Its product description also covers dynamic-page capture, WACZ output, replay, scheduled crawls, and API use. Before committing, verify the current crawl page limit, authentication requirements for your sites, output retention, and plan details in the product documentation.

When ArchiveBox or ArchiveWeb.page is a better fit
Choose ArchiveBox for self-managed imports and output choice
ArchiveBox is a self-hosted workflow for importing URLs and saving several formats, including HTML, PNG, PDF, TXT, JSON, WARC, and SQLite. That breadth can be useful if you control the archive infrastructure and want to choose how each import is stored. It also means you must account for hosting, maintenance, dependencies, and storage yourself; assess the capture methods against your actual sites rather than assuming every format will preserve every interactive behavior.
Choose ArchiveWeb.page for local, interactive capture
ArchiveWeb.page captures while you browse, through a browser extension or standalone application. It supports offline access to locally saved data and export to WARC or WACZ. This is a natural fit when a person needs to interact with a page during capture. It is not described as a bulk-list crawler, so test whether manual browsing is manageable for your volume before selecting it for a large archive project.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

How to choose for your workflow
- Decide whether you need screenshots or replay. Use BrowserStack when the deliverable is a set of browser/device renderings. Choose an archiving tool when preserving page content for later replay is the goal.
- Identify how pages enter the workflow. A fixed large list points toward Browsertrix’s seed-list workflow or ArchiveBox imports. Pages that require a human to navigate or interact point toward ArchiveWeb.page.
- Check dynamic and authenticated content. Confirm how the product handles JavaScript-heavy pages, login, and other access requirements for your specific sites. The listed capabilities alone do not establish that every site can be captured successfully.
- Choose a portable output. If you need a replayable archive, check the supported WARC or WACZ workflow and your intended replay tool. If screenshots alone meet the requirement, confirm image formats and download handling.
- Plan operations and limits. Confirm crawl or import limits, scheduling, API availability, retention, storage, and site permissions. No comparable published capture-speed, success-rate, or practical archive-size benchmark is established by the cited sources.
ScreenshotNeo as a screenshot alternative
If your requirement is a clean screenshot API rather than a replayable web archive, try ScreenshotNeo first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers, not a WARC/WACZ archive service. Its distinguishing fit is that it handles consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots; the response identifies verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP tools let AI agents take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs.
For archive work, keep the distinction clear: ScreenshotNeo returns screenshots or PDFs, while the archiving choices above are intended for preserving and replaying web content. If a screenshot is the artifact you need, a single GET call can produce it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does BrowserStack Screenshots create a web archive?
Its cited documentation describes browser-rendered screenshot results, not a replayable web-archive workflow. A screenshot ZIP should not be treated as a WARC or WACZ archive.
Can Browsertrix accept more than 100 URLs?
Yes. Browsertrix 1.18 added upload or paste support for large seed lists, removing the previous 100-URL interface limit. A crawl is still subject to its maximum pages-per-crawl setting.
