Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose reg-suit if you want to assemble and operate a visual-regression pipeline around generated images, plugins, and storage you control; choose Chromatic if you want managed browser capture, baseline comparison, and review connected to your UI tests. Both can help teams catch visual changes, but they assign the capture, storage, and review work differently.
How reg-suit and Chromatic differ
| Area | reg-suit | Chromatic |
|---|---|---|
| Product model | CLI and plugin-based visual regression workflow. The project describes comparing current images with expected images and producing an HTML difference report. reg-suit project documentation | Managed cloud workflow for capturing UI snapshots, comparing them with baselines, and reviewing changes. Visual testing documentation |
| Capture and inputs | Compares images provided by your workflow; your team must decide how the images are generated. | Documents snapshots for Storybook stories, Vitest browser-mode tests, and Playwright and Cypress end-to-end tests. Exact setup and version requirements should be checked in the current documentation. Snapshots documentation |
| Storage and publishing | Plugins retrieve expected images and publish comparison results and current images. The project names services such as AWS S3 and Google Cloud Storage as examples; that is not a recommendation or assessment of cost or security suitability. reg-suit project documentation | Uses a hosted capture, comparison, and review workflow; CI can receive feedback on visual changes. Quickstart |
| Review path | Generates an HTML report that can fit into your own CI or local workflow. | Provides a hosted review workflow tied to captured UI tests and their baselines. |
| Price and quotas | Current comparable pricing and quotas are not established here; verify them directly before choosing. | Current comparable pricing and quotas are not established here; verify them directly before choosing. |
What using each tool asks your team to do
reg-suit: own more of the pipeline
The documented reg-suit flow synchronizes expected snapshots, compares them against actual images, creates an HTML report, then publishes the results and current images through configured plugins. It can run locally or in CI. That flexibility comes with operational decisions: your team needs a way to produce screenshots, configure plugin access and storage, establish baseline conventions, and make the report useful to reviewers. See the reg-suit project documentation for the project’s workflow and plugins.
This model suits teams that already have image generation and storage practices, or that want those choices inside their own pipeline. It does not mean the CLI itself provides a managed hosted capture-and-review service.
Chromatic: use its managed capture and review path
Chromatic documents a flow that builds or archives the UI, captures snapshots in cloud browsers, compares them with baselines, and presents changes for review. Its documented test entry points include Storybook, Vitest browser mode, Playwright, and Cypress; consult the relevant snapshot documentation and integration guides for current setup details. For example, it has guides for Playwright and Vitest.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Chromatic also describes TurboSnap as avoiding some snapshot work when related code has not changed. That behavior is not a guaranteed project-specific cost saving: actual usage and current billing terms need to be checked against your project.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose reg-suit when you want to work with supplied images, configure publishing plugins, and control how your CI and storage fit together.
- Choose Chromatic when a documented integration with your existing Storybook or supported test workflow and a managed capture-and-review process better fit your team.
- Compare ownership, not just image diffs. Decide who will maintain image generation, storage permissions, plugins, CI configuration, baselines, and review conventions.
- Validate compatibility and cost before committing. Check current library/runtime requirements, plan limits, and expected snapshot volume directly. The available documentation does not establish a current, like-for-like price comparison or current reg-suit maintenance and compatibility status.
Chromatic’s quickstart explains its initial baseline and later comparison workflow. The reg-suit project documentation describes its CLI and plugin approach. Use those current sources to verify the configuration that applies to your versions and pipeline.

When the need is a screenshot API rather than a test-review platform
reg-suit and Chromatic address visual regression workflows; a standalone screenshot API is a different tool category. If you need a developer-facing way to request screenshots of arbitrary pages, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first: it returns screenshots or PDFs from one GET request, removes known consent banners and common popups before capture, and bills only clean shots.
Or skip the browser setup
Request a screenshot directly (replace the target URL as needed):
