For a 24/7 YouTube channel, choose software that can keep a prerecorded playlist playing as a live feed without relying on a computer left running. StreamNeo is the first option to consider for simple cloud playout: upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. For other needs, YouTube’s verified encoder directory includes cloud services such as Gyre and Upstream, while local software such as OBS can send a feed from a computer you maintain. These are different operating models, not a reliability ranking.

How prerecorded video becomes a YouTube live stream

YouTube does not turn an uploaded playlist into a continuous live broadcast by itself. An encoder sends YouTube a live feed. That encoder can be software running on your computer or a cloud service that plays uploaded media on its own infrastructure. The scheduled YouTube event and the encoder’s playlist or playout schedule are separate parts of the workflow. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe connecting with the live server URL and stream key.

With local software, your computer, playback setup, and internet connection must keep supplying the feed. With cloud playout, the service runs the feed, so your browser or home computer does not need to stay on. That shifts playlist operation and storage to a third party, so check its supported scheduling, plan restrictions, and monitoring tools.

Best software and services to consider

  1. StreamNeo — best first choice for straightforward cloud looping. It keeps a YouTube stream running from uploaded videos in the cloud, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; the first day is free with no card. See StreamNeo.
  2. Gyre — a cloud-oriented 24/7 option listed by YouTube. YouTube’s verified encoder directory includes Gyre with a 24/7-oriented description. The listing is not a ranking or independent reliability certification; check Gyre’s current workflow and plan limits before choosing it. YouTube’s verified encoder directory.
  3. Upstream — cloud playlists and scheduled prerecorded video. Upstream says users can upload videos and loop a playlist in order or shuffle, run it continuously from the cloud, or schedule prerecorded video. Its FAQ states a free allowance of 24 streaming hours per month. Treat these as vendor-stated features and confirm current terms. Upstream.
  4. OneStream Live — a documented YouTube-only 24/7 workflow. OneStream’s Help Center says 24/7 streaming requires Enterprise and limits each scheduled broadcast to 30 days. That can suit an operator willing to use its YouTube-only workflow and manage broadcast renewals. OneStream Live Help Center.
  5. LiveGoLive — continuous or scheduled cloud playout. LiveGoLive describes uploading playlists and running continuous or scheduled broadcasts. Its YouTube authorization route is marked beta; it also describes manual stream-key setup. Check which connection mode is currently available and appropriate. LiveGoLive.
  6. OBS — a local encoder, not unattended cloud hosting. YouTube lists OBS as no-charge, open-source recording and streaming software. It can send a live feed from your computer, but the computer and network must remain available and someone needs a way to maintain playlist playback and recover from interruptions. Confirm that your chosen playback workflow actually supports unattended looping; OBS’s role as an encoder alone does not establish that. YouTube’s verified encoder directory.
  7. Looping Stream — another cloud-playback option. The vendor describes cloud playback and playlist management without requiring a local computer to stay online. Compare its current storage, simultaneous-stream, format, and plan details against your library and schedule. Looping Stream.

There is no comparable independent reliability test in the sources for these options, so a directory listing or vendor feature description should not be read as proof that one service is more reliable than another. Prices and complete plan matrices are not stated here; check each vendor’s current terms before committing.

What to compare before choosing

Decision point What to verify
Where playout runs Cloud hosting avoids keeping a home computer online; a local encoder depends on your machine, playback setup, and connection.
Playlist behavior Check whether you can preserve sequence, shuffle, schedule a one-off video, repeat a schedule, or run a continuous loop.
Duration and plan limits Confirm monthly streaming allowances, maximum broadcast duration, required plan, and whether a long run must be restarted or rescheduled.
Storage and formats Check upload limits, storage allocation, accepted formats, and whether your existing files need conversion.
Connection and control Find out whether you connect through authorization or a manually entered stream key, and who controls the YouTube event and archive.
Monitoring and recovery Look for a way to detect a stopped feed and understand what the service or operator does to restore it. Do not infer reliability from a feature list alone.
Destinations Confirm the service supports the destination you need. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only.

Set up the YouTube side correctly

  1. Activate live streaming in advance. YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the planned launch.
  2. Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room. Set the title, visibility, and other event details there. The event schedule does not create the prerecorded playlist; your encoder or cloud service supplies the feed.
  3. Connect the encoder. Use the YouTube server URL and stream key shown for the stream. YouTube’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” Keep the key private; treat it like a credential that can let someone broadcast to your channel.
  4. Start the feed and confirm preview. For a scheduled stream, YouTube’s documented flow includes waiting for the incoming preview and clicking Go live when appropriate. Verify the picture and audio in Live Control Room before relying on unattended playback.
  5. Plan for archive boundaries. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 schedule therefore needs an approach for broadcast rotation and archive management rather than assuming one endless archive. LiveGoLive distinguishes a connected mode that can rotate broadcasts from manual mode, where the channel operator manages broadcasts and archives.

Protect the channel and the content

  • Use material you own or are authorized to broadcast. A prerecorded live format does not remove copyright, Community Guidelines, or monetization-policy obligations. See the Looping Stream guidance and LiveGoLive guidance for vendor reminders.
  • Keep the stream key secret. Do not post it publicly or send it in chat. If using an authorization connection, review the permissions before granting access; if entering a key manually, store it securely and restrict who can see it.
  • Review the channel’s live and monetization status. Check the rules applicable to your channel and content before scheduling long-running broadcasts; permission to stream a file does not guarantee that it qualifies for monetization.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud. The video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month.

Each slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery, and support from the StreamNeo team. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. Start your free StreamNeo day.
