1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteShort answer: choose Browserless if you want a direct screenshot API or a managed browser connection for Puppeteer or Playwright; choose an Apify Store Actor if its ready-made batch, run, and storage workflow suits your job. For either provider, distinguish an India-based proxy exit IP from browser compute physically hosted in India: the reviewed documentation establishes some proxy options, but does not establish India-hosted screenshot compute for either service. If Indian data residency is mandatory, confirm the current commitment with the vendor before sending data.
First clarify what “in India” means
There are two different requirements that can be hidden in this phrase:
- India-based egress: the request reaches the target website through a proxy whose public IP is in India. This can affect how the site responds geographically.
- India-hosted compute or data residency: the browser doing the capture, and potentially the data it processes, is located in India. A proxy exit in India does not prove this.
Browserless documents country selection for residential or datacenter proxies, but its reviewed hosted-region page lists San Francisco, London, and Amsterdam—not India. That page describes the regions it lists; it does not rule out a later change or private deployment. Ask Browserless directly if compute location or residency is a requirement. Browserless proxy documentation · Browserless regional endpoints
Apify documents datacenter and residential proxy products, but the reviewed material does not establish an India execution region or confirm that every screenshot Actor accepts every proxy configuration. Check the selected Actor’s inputs and ask Apify about compute location separately. Apify Proxy documentation

How each screenshot workflow is structured
Browserless: a screenshot endpoint or a connected browser
For a one-off capture, Browserless provides a REST /screenshot endpoint. Its documented request is an HTTP POST with a URL or raw HTML, an API token, and optional capture settings. The endpoint returns an image response, with documented PNG, JPEG, and WebP formats. See the Browserless screenshot documentation for the current request fields and syntax.
When a page needs interaction, custom waits, or a sequence of browser actions before capture, Browserless also documents hosted-browser connections for Puppeteer and Playwright. Close the browser session when finished to release it. Examples and connection guidance are in the Browserless documentation.

Apify: select a Store Actor for the job
Apify screenshot capture is generally provided by individual Store Actors, rather than one universal screenshot product with a single set of inputs and prices. The Actor determines the API shape, formats, device options, batch behavior, storage, and billing. For example, Reestri’s “Website Screenshot and PDF” listing describes batches of public pages, PNG/JPEG/WebP/PDF, viewport or full-page capture, and desktop, tablet, and mobile presets. Those are that Actor’s listed capabilities, not guarantees for every Apify screenshot Actor. Review the Reestri Actor listing and the exact Actor you intend to run.
Compare the capabilities that affect your capture
| Decision | Browserless | Apify | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integration | Direct screenshot REST endpoint, or managed browser connection for Puppeteer/Playwright. | A platform workflow built around a chosen Store Actor; APIs and platform features vary by Actor. | Whether you need a single request, interactive browser code, or an Actor’s run and storage workflow. |
| Formats and capture modes | PNG, JPEG, WebP; viewport or full-page, with documented viewport/device settings, clipping, and element targeting. | Actor-specific. Reestri lists PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF, viewport/full-page, and desktop/tablet/mobile presets. | Required output format, element or clipping support, device sizes, and how long pages or lazy-loaded content are handled. |
| Batching | Not stated as a universal batch limit in the reviewed screenshot endpoint material. | Depends on the selected Actor. Reestri’s listing says it accepts batches; confirm its current input and limits. | Maximum URLs per run, concurrency, retries, and how partial failures are reported. |
| Geography | Proxy country selection is documented. The reviewed hosted endpoint list names US West and European endpoints, not India. | Proxy types are documented; India compute availability and compatibility with a given screenshot Actor are not established by the reviewed sources. | Whether you need Indian egress, Indian compute, or both; validate the observed IP and written region commitment. |
| Failure and access behavior | Proxy and anti-bot tools are documented, but successful capture of any particular target is not guaranteed. | Public-page access limits and failure billing can differ by Actor. | How the exact workflow handles login walls, bot challenges, blocked pages, timeouts, and failed navigation. |
Estimate cost from the actual workload
Browserless usage and proxy charges
Browserless’s pricing page lists a Free plan with 1,000 units per month, Prototyping at $25/month billed annually, Starter at $140/month billed annually, and Scale at $350/month billed annually. The tiers have different included units and overage rates, so these are not per-screenshot prices. Check the Browserless pricing page for current inclusions and rates before estimating.

Proxy traffic may add usage on top of ordinary plan consumption: Browserless documents residential proxy cost at 6 units/MB and datacenter proxy cost at 2 units/MB. It also warns that datacenter proxy country coverage is narrower; if the requested country is not covered, the request will not exit through that location, and residential routing is the documented alternative for broader coverage. Confirm coverage and charges for the country and route you plan to use. Browserless proxy documentation
Apify Actor events and platform usage
Do not treat any one Store Actor’s rate as “Apify screenshot pricing.” Reestri’s listing advertises a starting price of $2 per 1,000 screenshots and says failed URLs are not charged; those terms apply to that listing and should be checked there for current details. Reestri Actor listing

Its billing rules describe charges for successful stored captures. These figures and conditions are specific to that Actor. Nefes Tools Actor listing
Apify says most pay-per-event Actors include platform usage in their event prices, while some bill platform usage separately. Include the chosen Actor’s current event charges, platform usage if separate, proxy use, storage and retention, schedule, and its treatment of failed or blocked pages in your estimate. Apify pricing

Build an apples-to-apples estimate
- Count URLs per run and runs per month; distinguish successful captures from retries and failures.
- Use representative pages to estimate page weight, capture length, output format, and whether full-page rendering or dynamic waits are needed.
- Add the relevant India proxy route and its usage charges, if geographic egress matters.
- For Apify, use the exact Actor’s event schedule and identify any separate platform, proxy, or storage cost. For Browserless, map expected work to plan units and overage rates.
- Compare the total for the same workload, including retention and retry behavior—not a headline monthly price against an event rate.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Browserless when you want a browser API, need a direct REST screenshot for simple captures, or already have a Puppeteer/Playwright workflow that needs a hosted browser.
- Choose an Apify Actor when a specific Actor’s batch inputs, run orchestration, and storage behavior fit your workflow. Verify its controls and billing on that Actor’s page rather than assuming they apply platform-wide.
- Choose neither on the basis of “India” alone until you know whether the requirement is proxy egress, compute region, or data residency. The reviewed documentation does not establish India-hosted screenshot compute for either provider.
Run a small pilot before committing
Use a proposed evaluation—not a presumed performance ranking—to check both the rendered result and the bill for your actual sites.
- Select representative Indian and international target pages, including at least one page with dynamic content if that is part of your use case.
- For Browserless, try the REST endpoint first; use a Puppeteer or Playwright connection if the page requires interaction or custom waits. For Apify, run the exact candidate Actor with its intended inputs.
- If Indian egress matters, configure the supported proxy route and confirm the observed public IP is in India. Do not infer the browser’s compute location from that IP.
- Inspect the image or PDF, page title and status where available, and whether the page is blocked, incomplete, or timed out.
- Record run cost, proxy usage, retries, storage, and failure billing. Repeat enough times to learn how your own workload behaves; do not assume the pilot predicts every target site.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request captures a URL as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; the API accepts common parameter names used by other screenshot APIs, which can make switching easier. For example, using the documented cURL pattern:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Quick Recap
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and setup. Cookie and consent banners are accepted like a visitor and removed along with 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up free.
