For a visual capture of a long page, start with GoFullPage: its documented workflow scrolls through visible sections and assembles them, and it supports inner scrollable elements and embedded frames. For a single-file copy to read offline, choose SingleFile, which offers an option to load deferred images and iframes before saving. FireShot is another screenshot option, with full-page, visible-page, and selection modes. None is established as the best performer on every lazy-loaded site; choose by the result you need and verify the capture.

Choose by the output you need

Extension Best fit Output and lazy-load handling Browser and listing details checked October 3, 2026
GoFullPage Full-page visual screenshot, including pages with nested scroll areas or embedded frames PNG, JPEG, or PDF; scrolls through visible sections and assembles them Chrome version 8.9, updated September 25, 2026; Firefox version 8.9, updated September 24, 2026
SingleFile Saving a page for offline viewing in one file One HTML file containing page resources; includes an option to load deferred images and iframes before saving Official site lists Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari; a version number or update date is not stated on the cited official site
FireShot Full-page, visible-page, or selected-area screenshot PDF, PNG, or JPEG; specific scrolling-area capture is listed among upgrade features Chrome version 2.1.4.18, updated May 24, 2026

These are different kinds of capture. A screenshot preserves how a page looks at capture time; an offline HTML file preserves page resources in a format intended to work offline. Neither format guarantees every dynamic element or deferred resource will be present. Sources: GoFullPage Chrome listing, GoFullPage Firefox listing, FireShot Chrome listing, SingleFile official site.

How lazy loading changes a capture

A page may wait until an image or section approaches the visible area before loading it. A full-page extension that scrolls down can prompt some of that content to load; SingleFile explicitly offers to load deferred images and iframes before saving. These are documented mechanisms, not guarantees: site scripts, network delays, or other loading behavior can still leave gaps.

Dynamic pages may also change while the extension is capturing. Let the process finish, then inspect the saved result for missing images or sections. If a key part is absent, try again after allowing the page to settle. This is a practical check, not a measured success-rate claim.

What each extension does

GoFullPage: scroll-and-assemble screenshots

GoFullPage says it scrolls through visible sections and assembles the pieces into a full-page capture. It documents support for inner scrollable elements and embedded iframes, which can matter when the main page is not the only area that scrolls. Its listed formats are PNG, JPEG, and PDF.

Very tall captures have a practical limit: GoFullPage says that in rare cases it splits an oversized capture into images in separate tabs. Its FAQ search result also says its capture workflow cannot access a PDF document and notes that some sites control scrolling with custom JavaScript. For a PDF source or a site with unusual scrolling, do not assume a full-page result will work; use a method that can access the actual content or capture the relevant visible area.

The Chrome listing reports 11,000,000 users, a store-reported count rather than an independent quality measure. The Firefox listing says required access includes GoFullPage domains; downloads/history, tabs, and navigation activity are optional permissions. It also lists technical and interaction data collection as optional according to the developer. Review the current permission prompts and privacy disclosures for the browser and version you install.

SingleFile: one HTML file for offline reading

SingleFile saves page resources—including images, stylesheets, fonts, and frames—into one HTML file intended to work offline. Its feature list specifically includes loading deferred images and iframes before saving. It is listed for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. The official site also describes saving to destinations such as GitHub, Amazon S3, Google Drive, and WebDAV; that is a destination feature, not a requirement to use those services.

Choose it when the goal is a portable page copy rather than a flat image. The saved file is still a capture of a page at a point in time, not a promise that every interactive feature or server-backed function will work offline.

FireShot: flexible screenshot modes

FireShot’s Chrome listing includes full-page, visible-page, and selection capture, with PDF, PNG, and JPEG output. Capturing specific scrolling areas appears among the listing’s upgrade features, so do not assume that mode is included free. The listing reports 3,000,000 users, a store-reported count rather than an independent quality measure, and says the developer disclosed it will not collect or use user data.

Capture and check a page

  1. Open the target page in the browser and wait until its initial content appears. If it uses lazy loading, scroll through the sections you need before starting or use an extension’s documented deferred-content option.
  2. Choose the deliverable: use GoFullPage or FireShot for a visual screenshot, or SingleFile for a resource-inclusive HTML file.
  3. Start the extension’s capture or save workflow. For a full-page scrolling capture, allow it to finish; interrupting the scroll-and-assemble process can leave sections out.
  4. Open the resulting image, PDF, or HTML file and check the top, middle, and bottom, plus any nested scrolling area or embedded frame that matters.
  5. If a section is missing, reload the page, let its content load, and capture again. For custom scrolling or a PDF document, try a visible-area or selection capture if suitable, or use a workflow that can access the content directly.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need an image or PDF from code rather than a browser extension, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For a WebP shot of a page:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for options and API details. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Common problems and practical fixes

  • Images or sections are missing: The page may not have loaded them before capture. Wait for the page to settle, scroll through the relevant sections, or use SingleFile’s deferred-image and iframe loading option; then inspect the result.
  • A nested panel is cut off: The panel may scroll independently of the page. GoFullPage documents support for inner scrollable elements; FireShot lists capture of specific scrolling areas among upgrade features. If the output is still incomplete, capture the panel or selection separately.
  • A page with custom scrolling does not assemble correctly: GoFullPage’s FAQ search result notes that some sites manage scrolling with custom JavaScript. Try capturing a visible section or use a page-copy workflow instead; no source establishes that an extension handles every custom implementation.
  • The capture is split into several images: GoFullPage says exceptionally large captures can be split into images in separate tabs. Check each output before combining or sharing it.
  • The source is a PDF: GoFullPage’s FAQ search result says its workflow cannot access a PDF document. Use a PDF-capable viewer or capture method rather than expecting the extension to treat the document as a normal web page.
  • The capture is slow or appears stuck: Full-page screenshot tools that scroll and assemble need time to process the page. Wait for completion; if it does not finish, reload and retry, or capture smaller sections. No comparative timing data establishes which extension is fastest.

Version, permissions, and evidence limits

Store versions and features can change. The listing details above were checked October 3, 2026, and apply to the named listings and browsers, not necessarily every platform or future release. GoFullPage’s Chrome and Firefox listings differ in update date by one day.
