CaptureKit’s listed plans work out to $7 per 1,000 successful screenshots on Starter when you use all 1,000 monthly credits for screenshot calls. At full screenshot-only quota use, the corresponding arithmetic is $2.90 per 1,000 on Pro and $1.78 on Ultimate. These are plan-price calculations, not separate pay-as-you-go rates; your effective cost rises if credits go unused or go to other billable endpoints.
CaptureKit’s cost per 1,000 screenshots
CaptureKit documents its screenshot endpoint at one credit per call. Its listed monthly plans therefore translate to the following costs when the full monthly allowance is used for successful screenshot calls:
| Plan | Listed monthly price | Monthly credits | Derived cost per 1,000 screenshots at full screenshot-only use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 | Not applicable: the allowance is 100 credits, not 1,000. CaptureKit plans and pricing |
| Starter | $7/month | 1,000 | $7.00 |
| Pro | $29/month | 10,000 | $2.90 |
| Ultimate | $89/month | 50,000 | $1.78 |
Prices and credit quotas are from CaptureKit’s official pricing page and plans documentation; the per-thousand amounts are arithmetic from price divided by quota, not published unit tariffs. The figures assume the listed monthly plan price and that every credit goes to a successful screenshot. The pricing page advertises a 10% saving for annual billing, so check the live checkout amount and billing period before budgeting.
Why the effective rate can differ
The plan arithmetic is a ceiling on screenshot volume, not a guarantee that your real workload will achieve that unit cost. CaptureKit charges one credit for a successful screenshot call, while other billable endpoints can draw from the same workspace credit allowance. Unused credits also mean the plan price is spread over fewer screenshots. Plan quota and rate limits apply across the workspace, so usage from other API keys can affect what remains for your captures. See the provider’s credit rules and plan details.

The calculator’s $5.80 example
CaptureKit’s pricing calculator displays $5.80 per 1,000 for 5,000 screenshots on Pro. That is $29 divided by 5,000, multiplied by 1,000; it uses half of Pro’s 10,000-credit allowance. It is a utilization scenario, not Pro’s full-quota rate of $2.90 per 1,000.
When CaptureKit bills a request
CaptureKit describes itself as an HTTP API called from a backend, automation platform, or AI agent, and the capture endpoint can return PNG, JPEG/JPG, WebP, or PDF. The billing distinction that matters for cost forecasting is success: synchronous requests are charged when successful; asynchronous requests are billed after successful completion. An accepted 202 job is not charged at acceptance, polling job status is free, and failed jobs are documented as unbilled. Consult the capture endpoint documentation and credits documentation for current behavior.

Supplemental credit packs and separate balances are also described in the billing documentation. Treat those as additional purchases rather than assuming every workspace has the same top-up arrangement or that included monthly quota is equivalent to a universal pay-as-you-go rate.
How to estimate your monthly spend
- Estimate successful screenshot calls. Count captures expected to complete successfully, not merely queued jobs or retries.
- Add other billable endpoint usage. Those calls can consume the same workspace credits as screenshots.
- Compare the required credits with each monthly allowance. The listed plans include 1,000 on Starter, 10,000 on Pro, and 50,000 on Ultimate.
- Calculate your realized unit rate. Divide the plan charge by the number of successful screenshots actually produced, then multiply by 1,000. Do not divide by the maximum quota unless you expect to use all of it for screenshots.
- Check billing and over-quota terms before committing. Prices, annual savings, credit packs, and checkout terms can change; verify the official pricing page and your account’s current terms.
Choosing a screenshot API on cost
Do not compare providers by a headline per-thousand number alone. Compare the same monthly volume and required output, then check included successful captures or credits, rate limits, handling of failed and asynchronous jobs, and over-quota or top-up terms. CaptureKit’s comparison article names ScreenshotOne and ScreenshotAPI as alternatives, but it is vendor-authored and does not independently establish those providers’ current prices; verify each provider’s official pricing and billing documentation before making a numeric comparison: CaptureKit’s comparison.

For an alternative to try first, ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a $5 paid plan for 3,000 screenshots. Its feature set includes an API and an MCP server for AI agents; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for details.
Or skip the browser setup
For a direct screenshot request, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL and returns an image or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; and an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up free for ScreenshotNeo.
