Screenshotlayer’s documented capture endpoint handles one target URL per request; the available specification does not document a native batch request that accepts an array of URLs. To capture a list, write a script that validates each URL, submits an individual request for each one, and records each result so failures can be retried separately. Screenshotlayer also describes dedicated workers for concurrent captures, with capacity determined by the account plan.
How Screenshotlayer bulk capture works
The documented endpoint is /api/capture. Each capture request requires an access_key and a fully qualified target url, including https:// or http://. The API specification says a URL can only be processed if it contains its HTTP protocol. Screenshotlayer API Access & Specification
For a list, treat every URL as its own job: validate it, make one request, save or record the outcome, and continue if another job fails. This loop is a practical implementation of the documented single-request API, not a claim that Screenshotlayer provides a batch endpoint.
Build a script that submits one request per URL
The following Python example reads one URL per line from urls.txt, saves successful image responses as numbered files, logs failures to a CSV, and does not stop the entire run when one URL fails. It is an implementation example based on the documented request pattern; it has not been executed against a Screenshotlayer account. Confirm the current response format and live API behavior in the provider documentation before relying on it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
1. Prepare the URL list and access key
Put one fully qualified URL on each line of urls.txt. Set the API key in an environment variable rather than committing it to source control. The environment-variable handling below is standard credential hygiene; the provider describes the access key as a personal password.
export SCREENSHOTLAYER_ACCESS_KEY="YOUR_ACCESS_KEY"
cat > urls.txt <<'EOF'
https://example.com
https://www.iana.org
EOF
2. Install the Python dependency
python -m pip install requests
3. Run the capture loop
Save this as capture_urls.py. It uses the documented parameters access_key, url, fullpage, format, delay, and ttl. Adjust or remove optional parameters to suit the capture. The endpoint response handling should be checked against the current API behavior for your account.

else:
print("All capture requests completed successfully.")
Run it with python capture_urls.py. Successful response bodies are written under screenshots/; failed URLs and reasons go to capture_failures.csv. The example expects an image response. If you use the API’s export option, adapt the script to record and retrieve the export result according to the current specification rather than saving it as an image.

Control concurrency, caching, and request volume
Run conservatively within worker capacity
Screenshotlayer’s FAQ describes a dedicated worker as a server entity assigned to capture one screenshot at a time, and says the account plan determines worker capacity. If you add concurrent requests, keep the number within your plan’s capacity and handle responses independently. The available sources provide no latency or throughput measurements, so there is no evidence-based fixed concurrency number to recommend. Screenshotlayer FAQ

Account for cached results on repeat runs
The specification gives a default cache TTL of 2,592,000 seconds (30 days), and documents a custom ttl and a force parameter. A repeat run may therefore behave differently from a fresh capture. Choose a TTL that fits the job and use the documented force-refresh option when a fresh result is needed; verify current live behavior before depending on caching semantics. Estimate quota and cost before scaling up
In 2026 search verification of Screenshotlayer’s official product and pricing pages, the Free plan listed 100 monthly snapshots, Basic listed 10,000 for $19.99 per month, and Professional listed 30,000 for $59.99 per month. Pricing and plan allowances can change; confirm the current terms before a large run. The FAQ says users are notified at 75%, 90%, and 100% of the monthly allowance and that overage fees apply after 100%; check the current account terms before relying on those thresholds. For a large list, start with a small sample, inspect the saved files and error records, then estimate total request volume and confirm allowance and overage terms before running the rest. No throughput or reliability benchmark is established by the cited materials. Screenshotlayer’s FAQ claims around 99.9% uptime, but also says it does not offer public statistics and invites readers to request a recent report; this is the provider’s statement, not independent uptime evidence. Troubleshoot failed captures
The API specification lists structured error details including an error code, type, and explanatory info field. Keep the URL associated with each response so an error can be understood and retried without repeating successful jobs.
- Missing or invalid access key: Check that
SCREENSHOTLAYER_ACCESS_KEYis set in the shell or runtime that launches the script, and that the key is valid for the account. - Invalid URL: Include
http://orhttps://and confirm the URL has a hostname. The API requires the protocol. - Invalid API function: Verify that the request targets the documented capture endpoint and that your client is using the current endpoint details.
- Usage limit reached: Check account usage and plan terms before retrying. Repeated attempts will not resolve an exhausted allowance.
- Unexpected response instead of an image: Inspect the HTTP status, content type, and structured error body before writing bytes to an image file. For
export, follow the export response flow in the current documentation. - Some URLs fail while others succeed: Preserve each job’s outcome, correct or defer only failed entries, and rerun those entries rather than restarting the whole list.
- Repeat captures appear unchanged: Review the documented 30-day default TTL and the selected
ttlorforcesetting.
Error cases and parameters are listed in the Screenshotlayer specification; account capacity and worker details are covered in its FAQ.
Use shot-scraper for local multi-job capture
If you want to configure multiple jobs in a YAML file and run them locally, shot-scraper’s multi command documents that workflow. It is a separate command-line tool, not a Screenshotlayer feature. In this approach rendering runs in your local environment, so you are responsible for setup, compute, maintenance, and where outputs are stored. The cited documentation establishes its YAML multi-job mode, but does not provide a measured comparison with Screenshotlayer for speed, reliability, or cost.

ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, using the target URL from the sample list:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed.
