Yes. Screenshotlayer advertises custom CSS injection, so you can target a cookie banner’s site-specific element and hide it in the screenshot. There is no universal cookie-banner selector, however, and the public product information cited here does not provide a complete request example for the CSS parameter. Identify the element, use Screenshotlayer’s current documentation for the exact request syntax, and inspect the result rather than assuming the rule worked.

How the CSS approach works

Screenshotlayer describes its feature as letting you modify the target website by injecting a stylesheet appended as a URL. In practice, you supply CSS that targets the banner on the particular page being captured. The rule changes what appears in the screenshot; it does not establish that the site has recorded consent or that the page’s underlying behavior has changed.

Cookie banners are implemented differently across sites and may be inserted or restyled dynamically. A selector that works on one site is not a general-purpose solution. Screenshotlayer’s product page confirms stylesheet injection, but the material cited here does not establish a universal selector or complete parameter syntax. See the Screenshotlayer product page and official FAQ for the service information available there.

Find and test the banner selector

  1. Inspect the target page. Open the page in a browser, inspect the visible consent banner, and identify its actual element or a stable class or ID. Consent interfaces can use different markup on desktop and mobile.
  2. Write a narrow rule. Target only the element you intend to omit. A broad selector can hide unrelated page content, while a selector tied to unstable generated markup may stop matching.
  3. Use the current Screenshotlayer request documentation. The product page confirms that a stylesheet can be injected as a URL, but the sources cited here do not specify the parameter name, required URL format, or encoding rules. Do not guess them; follow the live API reference.
  4. Set capture dimensions and timing deliberately. Screenshotlayer advertises viewport control, full-height captures, thumbnail width, and a capture delay. Choose settings that match the page state you need. A delay is not a guarantee that every asynchronous banner or other interface will be ready.
  5. Inspect the returned image. Check the affected area and confirm that the page content beneath the banner remains visible. Repeat at relevant viewport sizes, particularly if the site changes its banner layout for mobile.

Request details to verify before implementation

Screenshotlayer’s FAQ says API requests require an access key and lists PNG, JPEG, and GIF output formats. It also states that the default screenshot cache TTL is 2,592,000 seconds (30 days), with a lower custom TTL available. When testing a CSS change, account for caching and consult the current documentation for the applicable cache or refresh controls; otherwise an earlier image may make a working stylesheet appear ineffective.

The pricing page describes the free plan as non-commercial and advertises commercial use on paid plans. Check the current plan terms for your intended use before relying on a capture commercially. The FAQ identifies apilayer as the service maintainer.

Troubleshooting a banner that still appears

  • The rule has no visible effect: Recheck the element and selector in the live page markup, then verify that the stylesheet is being passed according to Screenshotlayer’s current request syntax. The public product information cited here does not document a complete CSS request example.
  • The banner is gone but page content is missing: Narrow the selector. A broad rule may match a container that includes content beyond the consent interface.
  • The result looks unchanged after editing CSS: Consider the stated default cache duration of 30 days. Review the current API documentation for cache and refresh behavior and ensure you are comparing a fresh capture.
  • Desktop works but mobile does not: Inspect the page at the mobile viewport and identify whether it uses a different banner element or layout. Viewport controls are available, but selectors remain page-specific.
  • The banner appears intermittently: The interface may be asynchronous. Adjust capture timing as appropriate and check the returned screenshot; the advertised delay setting does not guarantee readiness in every case.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request website screenshot API, with CSS and other capture options documented at its API documentation. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents, including Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
