For ScreenshotMachine, start with the dimension parameter: it is written as widthxheight, and the documented default is 120x90. Use a numeric height for a fixed-size viewport; a height of full, as in 1024xfull, intentionally requests a full-page image. If the pixel canvas is right but the page looks wrongly scaled, cropped, or laid out for another device, check device, zoom, crop, selector, and capture timing instead. Set the requested screenshot width and height
ScreenshotMachine uses the dimension parameter in widthxheight order. Its API reference gives 120x90 as the default. Widths from 100 through 1920 pixels and numeric heights from 100 through 9999 pixels are documented; the special height full requests the full webpage height. ScreenshotMachine parameter reference
For example, dimension=1366x768 requests a 1366-by-768-pixel capture, while dimension=1024xfull requests a 1024-pixel-wide full-page capture. If you expected a normal viewport but used full, the unusually tall output is the requested behavior. For a fixed viewport, set a numeric height.
Separate canvas size from how the page looks
An output file can have the expected pixel dimensions while its content looks too large, too small, clipped, or designed for the wrong screen. These settings affect different parts of the result:

Device and responsive layout
The documented device choices are desktop, phone, and tablet, with desktop as the default. ScreenshotMachine’s examples pair desktop with 1024x768, phone with 480x800, and tablet with 800x1280. Device mode can affect how a modern responsive page is laid out; it is not merely another way to set the output bitmap dimensions. ScreenshotMachine generator controls
Zoom is not a substitute for choosing the viewport
The API describes zoom=100 as the original website size and zoom=200 as twice the size at 100. The documentation also says zoom may be ignored for screenshots smaller than typical dimensions for the selected device. Set a suitable device and dimension first, then use zoom only if the content scale still needs adjustment. ScreenshotMachine API reference

Crop and selector change what is visible
A crop rectangle selects a region of the viewport; a selector targets an individual DOM element. Either can make a capture look clipped or smaller than expected even if the requested page dimensions are correct. Temporarily remove these controls to check whether they explain the apparent size mismatch.
Troubleshoot a wrong-size capture step by step
- Inspect the request that was actually sent. Confirm there is one intended
dimensionvalue, written width first, such as1366x768. Check the outgoing request rather than assuming a client library used the value your application intended; the documented default is120x90. - Check for
full. A value such as1024xfullasks for a full-page image. Use a numeric height if the desired result is a fixed viewport. - Verify
device. Try the intended mode—desktop,phone, ortablet—and check whether the responsive layout now matches your target. - Check
zoomseparately. If content size is still off, confirm the chosen device and dimensions are large enough for zoom to apply; the documentation says zoom can be ignored below typical device dimensions. - Temporarily remove
cropandselector. This distinguishes a region or element capture from a full-page viewport capture. - Allow long pages to finish loading. ScreenshotMachine recommends a larger
delay, such as2000milliseconds or more, for long pages with images or animations. Delay affects readiness, not the requested width and height. ScreenshotMachine API guidance - Compare the file with the request. Record the exact URL and encoded parameters, including
dimension,device,zoom,crop, andselector. Note whether the height wasfull, then inspect the downloaded image’s actual pixel width and height.
If a valid explicit dimension still produces unexpected pixels after those checks, the reviewed ScreenshotMachine documentation does not establish a specific internal cause or remedy. Keep the request and resulting file details together when seeking vendor support; do not infer an undocumented rendering defect from appearance alone.

What should I save if the image dimensions remain wrong after checking the request?
Keep the exact URL, encoded parameters, whether you used full, and the downloaded file’s pixel dimensions together.
