For a compatible Intel mini PC, start with OBS’s Auto Configuration Wizard, then test a conservative YouTube Live profile: 720p at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, 8 Mbps video bitrate, a 2-second keyframe interval, and RTMPS. That is a practical starting point—not a guarantee that every mini PC or internet connection can sustain it. Confirm that OBS offers Quick Sync (QSV) on your system, test with representative video and audio, and watch YouTube’s stream health before relying on the setup.
Recommended OBS settings for YouTube Live
Use these as a baseline for a compatible Intel mini PC. YouTube’s bitrate figures are ingestion recommendations; they do not establish what a particular PC or connection can sustain.

YouTube also accepts H.265/HEVC and AV1, but what you can select depends on the encoder hardware and OBS configuration. H.264 is the clearest starting choice when setting up QSV.
Check that Quick Sync is available on your mini PC
An Intel CPU label by itself does not prove that OBS can use QSV. OBS documents QSV support on Windows and Linux with Intel HD Graphics on Intel Core-i 2xxx (Sandy Bridge) or newer, and recommends Core-i 4xxx (Haswell) or newer because early QSV generations had lower image quality. Keep the graphics driver current, then confirm QSV appears in the encoder options in OBS.

- If the PC also has NVIDIA or AMD graphics, OBS generally advises using the primary graphics adapter’s encoder instead.
- If QSV is missing, check the exact CPU and integrated graphics generation, operating-system support, driver status, and OBS configuration rather than assuming any Intel processor will expose it.
For a named mini PC, these compatibility notes are not a performance certification. Sustained results depend on the complete system and the stream workload.
Set up and test the stream in OBS
- Run the wizard: In OBS, choose Tools → Auto Configuration Wizard. Treat its recommendation as a starting point. OBS notes that system demand varies with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity; meeting minimum system requirements alone does not ensure smooth streaming.
- Choose the encoder and output: In OBS’s output settings, select Intel QSV if available, then use H.264 and CBR for the baseline. Set the video bitrate to 8 Mbps for 720p30 and the keyframe interval to 2 seconds.
- Set video and audio: Set the stream to 1280 × 720 at 30 fps. For a simple audio default, use stereo AAC at 128 kbps if supported. For SDR, use Rec. 709 and 8-bit.
- Connect YouTube: Use YouTube’s RTMPS ingest option. Select or enter the stream key in OBS using YouTube’s current live-control workflow; treat the key as a password and do not share it.
- Run a representative test: Before a real stream, include the kind of motion and audio you expect to broadcast. Check YouTube’s stream health and OBS for dropped frames or other signs of trouble.
- Adjust one demand at a time: If the connection is unstable or frames drop, lower the frame rate or resolution, then test again. If increasing quality, change resolution or frame rate only when the mini PC and upload connection remain stable under the actual scene.

These are YouTube’s current H.264 ingestion figures, accessed October 3, 2026—not promises of smooth playback at those settings. Your upload needs to sustain the chosen stream reliably, and the encoder must handle the scene. YouTube advises testing before going live, including audio and movement similar to the intended stream.
When to choose a different resolution or frame rate
Stay at 720p30 when stability is the priority
720p30 is a sensible first test when the mini PC’s capabilities or upload stability are uncertain. It asks less of the overall setup than 1080p60, and YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate is 8 Mbps rather than 17 Mbps.

Move to 1080p30 only after a successful test
For 1080p30, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps H.264 and lists 5 Mbps as the minimum. Confirm that your upload link can sustain the stream and that the complete OBS scene performs reliably before using it for a scheduled broadcast.
Use 60 fps only when the content benefits and the system holds up
YouTube recommends 8 Mbps H.264 for 720p60 and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. More motion and a higher frame rate can raise system and connection demands. The available evidence does not establish guaranteed 1080p60 performance for any particular mini PC model.

Troubleshoot common Quick Sync and stream problems

Copyright and stream-key checks before going live
- Use video, music, and other material you have rights to stream. A live setup does not remove copyright obligations.
- Keep the YouTube stream key private. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube’s live controls and update the key used by OBS.
- Confirm the selected YouTube ingest protocol and stream health before the audience-facing broadcast.
