Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf a ScreenshotAPI.net screenshot is missing content built by JavaScript, check that JavaScript, XHR, and Fetch requests are not blocked, then make capture wait for the page’s actual ready state. For late-rendering pages, try network idle, a supported selector wait, or a measured delay; use lazy-load scrolling only for content triggered by scrolling. The right fix depends on how the target page renders, so these are diagnostic steps—not a diagnosis of a specific request.
1. Check whether scripts and data requests are blocked
A page can return its initial HTML successfully while showing little or none of its final interface if the browser does not run its scripts or cannot fetch the data those scripts need. ScreenshotAPI.net documents these options as false by default, but an explicit setting in your request can override that.
- JavaScript: Check that
block_jsis not set totrue. ScreenshotAPI.net documentstrueas disabling JavaScript execution andfalseas allowing it. - XHR/AJAX: Check that
block_xhris nottrueif the page obtains content through XHR requests. - Fetch: Check that
block_fetchis nottrueif the page obtains content through the Fetch API.
Also inspect any other resource-blocking options in the request. A page may need a particular resource to render its visible content. These settings and documented defaults are described in the ScreenshotAPI.net API documentation.
2. Choose a wait that matches the page
Allowing JavaScript to run does not guarantee that the screenshot is taken after the application has finished rendering. The capture may occur at a browser lifecycle milestone that precedes an API response, chart, or other late UI. ScreenshotAPI.net documents wait_for_event options including load, domcontentloaded, and networkidle.

| Wait strategy | What it waits for | When to try it |
|---|---|---|
domcontentloaded |
The document has been parsed; it does not wait for images, styles, or external resources. | Use only when early document readiness is sufficient. It can be too early for a JavaScript-driven interface. |
load |
The page’s load event. | Try it when the page needs the ordinary load milestone, while recognizing that application data or later UI work may still be pending. |
networkidle |
A period of network quiet, as described by the service reference. | Try it for dynamic pages that load content through APIs or AJAX. Long-running network activity may make this an imperfect signal. |
| Selector wait | The presence of a chosen DOM element. | Prefer a specific element that indicates the needed content is rendered, if this option is supported for your API version and account. |
| Delay | An elapsed time after page load. | Use a measured pause for late scripts, animations, charts, or API responses when a more direct readiness signal is unavailable. |
The lifecycle events and delay setting are in ScreenshotAPI.net’s API reference. Its feature page describes wait_for_selector for waiting until a chosen DOM element exists, including for charts, maps, and dashboards, and says selector, network-idle, and delay controls can be combined: ScreenshotAPI.net features. Verify selector support for your account and API version before depending on it.
3. Add only as much delay as the page needs
ScreenshotAPI.net’s delay is a post-load wait in milliseconds; the documented default is zero, with examples including 500 ms and 2,000 ms. Start with a modest delay and increase it only if the target’s visible content still arrives later. A fixed delay is approximate: too little can capture an incomplete page, while too much adds render time without proving that a specific element is ready.

ScreenshotAPI.net’s Lazy Loading & Delay documentation describes the setting this way: “This parameter defines a waiting period (in milliseconds) before the screenshot or render is captured after the page has been loaded in the browser.”
4. Use lazy-load scrolling only for scroll-triggered content
If missing images or sections appear only after a visitor scrolls them into view, try lazy_load=true. ScreenshotAPI.net describes this option as scrolling from the top to the bottom to activate deferred or viewport-triggered content. The scroll_delay option sets the pause between scroll steps; its listed default is 500 ms, with examples from 100 to 1,000 ms.

Scrolling is not a general fix for API data that has not arrived. On a long page, a large scroll delay can also consume the available time and lead to a timeout. Use it for content activated by entering the viewport, and use an appropriate readiness wait for content that depends on asynchronous requests.
5. Check the timeout and the exact request
The service reference describes timeout as the maximum page-load wait before aborting, with a listed default of 100,000 ms. If your request sets a lower value, a heavy page may be stopped before its content renders. Conversely, adding long pauses and slow lazy-load scrolling can use up the deadline. Treat the documented default as a service reference, not a guarantee for every plan or API version.

ScreenshotAPI.net identifies its render endpoint and says requests require a target URL and API token. Confirm that the request is reaching the intended endpoint with the intended URL and options. The request, account, and API version for a particular blank or incomplete screenshot matter; the documented settings alone cannot establish the cause of an individual result.
A practical diagnostic order
- Inspect the actual query string or payload, including values added by shared configuration, and remove unintended
block_js=true,block_xhr=true, orblock_fetch=true. - Choose a wait based on the page: try the appropriate lifecycle event, then network idle for API-driven content, or a selector wait if available and you can identify a reliable rendered element.
- If the page remains late, add a measured
delayand adjust it based on the result rather than choosing a long value blindly. - Enable
lazy_load=trueonly if the missing content is triggered by scrolling; keepscroll_delayproportionate to page length. - Check whether the configured timeout allows the page and any scrolling to finish, then verify the endpoint, target URL, token, and final options being sent.
Troubleshooting by symptom
| Symptom | Likely setting to inspect | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The page shell appears, but most interface content is absent. | block_js, block_xhr, block_fetch |
Confirm scripts and the page’s data-request mechanisms are allowed. |
| Some content appears, but charts, maps, or dashboard panels are missing. | Capture timing; selector support | Wait for a relevant element if supported, or test network idle and a measured delay. |
| Above-the-fold content is present but lower sections or images are missing. | lazy_load, scroll_delay |
Enable scrolling for viewport-triggered content and avoid excessive per-step pauses. |
| The page stops before rendering completes. | timeout; combined wait and scroll duration |
Check for a request timeout that is too low and reduce unnecessary waiting or scrolling. |
| The output is still blank or incomplete after changing waits. | Actual request, target URL, endpoint, token, resource blocking | Verify the final request and investigate the target page’s own loading behavior. The available documentation does not identify a specific cause for an unspecified request or establish that bot protection is responsible. |
Or skip the browser setup
If you would rather call a screenshot API than tune a browser-rendering request, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns a screenshot or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of the target page; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options.
