Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo loop a recorded Fortnite match on YouTube Live, use OBS Studio to encode and send the stream, then add the video as either an OBS Media Source with Loop enabled or an OBS VLC Video source with a playlist loop enabled. VLC can provide playlist playback; OBS sends the encoded video to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
What you need before you start
- A locally playable recording of your Fortnite match.
- OBS Studio, which encodes and sends the video to YouTube Live.
- VLC installed if you want to use OBS’s VLC Video source. Match its architecture to OBS: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- A YouTube channel that is eligible to livestream and a reliable upload connection.
Fortnite Replay can be used to review matches and make captures, but Epic’s cited instructions specifically describe enabling Record Creative Replays for Creative islands. They do not establish that replay capture or export works the same way in every mode or on every platform. For this setup, have a video file you can already play locally. See Epic’s Fortnite Replay documentation.
Choose how to loop one match or a playlist
| Approach | Best for | What to enable |
|---|---|---|
| OBS Media Source | Repeating one video file | Add the local file and turn on Loop. |
| OBS VLC Video source | Playing multiple files in sequence | Add the files to a playlist and turn on Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed. |
OBS documents both options in its Media Sources guide. A capture card is not needed for an already recorded local video.
Set up a recorded Fortnite match for YouTube Live
- Check YouTube eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so check readiness before the planned broadcast. See YouTube live streaming tips and Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Prepare your file or playlist. Confirm that the recording plays on your computer and that its audio is present. If you are looping one match, use a Media Source. If you are rotating several recordings, make a VLC playlist.
- Add a source in OBS. Create or select a scene, then add a Media Source and select the video file. In the source properties, enable Loop. For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, create the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. If VLC Video is unavailable, install VLC and ensure its architecture matches OBS.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select an encoder stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there into the corresponding OBS stream settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS; use the server address and key YouTube provides. Keep the key private. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room. See Manage live stream settings.
- Set output and check the preview. YouTube’s common encoder recommendations include H.264 video, CBR bitrate control, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Select a resolution and bitrate your actual upload connection can sustain. Open the YouTube preview and check picture, representative gameplay motion, and audio before starting the event. YouTube recommends RTMPS and testing; its settings are not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection can sustain a chosen output. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Start and monitor the stream. Start streaming in OBS and confirm the preview appears in Live Control Room. If the event setup requires it, start the event there as well. Monitor stream health while live.
- End the broadcast deliberately. Stop the encoder and end the stream when finished. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours; do not assume a longer uninterrupted loop will be archived in full.
Why VLC alone does not send the match to YouTube
VLC can play a file or repeat a playlist, but the workflow here uses OBS as the encoder and YouTube sender. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for a live stream. Add VLC playback inside OBS when you need its playlist controls; then OBS sends the resulting stream to YouTube.

Common problems and fixes
- The VLC Video source is missing: Install VLC, then check that its 64-bit or 32-bit architecture matches OBS; OBS specifically notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- The match stops after one play: Reopen the source properties and enable Loop for Media Source or Loop Playlist for VLC Video.
- YouTube receives no video: Confirm OBS is streaming, the correct scene and source are active, and the stream URL and key match the current encoder stream in Live Control Room.
- The preview is unstable or stream health is poor: Reduce the output resolution or bitrate to suit the available upload capacity, then test again. A recommended setting cannot overcome an insufficient or unstable connection.
- Audio is missing or wrong: Check the recording’s audio in local playback and inspect OBS audio meters and the YouTube preview before going live.
- The channel cannot start a stream: Check verification and restriction status in YouTube, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time live-stream enablement.
- The stream is longer than 12 hours: YouTube’s cited guidance documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. Plan a shorter broadcast or verify current YouTube guidance if a longer event is essential.
- The stream key may have been exposed: Reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the replacement key.
Copyright and Fortnite footage
Before broadcasting, make sure you have the rights to the match recording and any music, voice chat, overlays, or other material included in it. A loop does not change the rights status of the content. YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance is the place to check current account and stream requirements; the cited material does not establish that every Fortnite recording is automatically clear for broadcast or monetization.
