Give each test execution its own screenshot path. If parallel workers all save to screenshot.png, they can overwrite one another or leave an artifact whose contents depend on which write finishes last. Selenium lets your test code choose the filename; make that destination unique per run, test, worker, and retry, then check that the save succeeded.
Why parallel Selenium screenshots conflict
A WebDriver screenshot captures the current browsing context, and Selenium’s screenshot APIs let the caller supply a filename. A fixed path is therefore shared mutable output: two tests writing to the same path can race or replace the same file. This is a filesystem naming problem, not something Selenium Grid resolves for you. Selenium’s examples and Python API document caller-selected paths and screenshot saving: Selenium WebDriver screenshot examples and Python WebDriver API.
Use a unique destination for every execution. A useful structure is screenshots/<run-id>/<test-id>-<worker>-<attempt>.png. The identifiers should be stable within your test harness, and path components derived from names should be sanitized. This is a practical naming pattern, not a Selenium-mandated convention.
Python: save to a unique file and verify success
In Python, save_screenshot(filename) saves a PNG and returns a Boolean success value. Build the path from identifiers your runner already knows, create its parent directory, and treat a false result as an artifact failure.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

# Supply IDs from your test runner; do not use a shared constant filename.
# save_test_screenshot(driver, "screenshots", run_id, test_id, worker_id, attempt)
Keep the test and worker identifiers meaningful enough to trace the image to its failing execution. Include a retry or attempt number if your runner retries tests. A timestamp can be useful for diagnosis, but by itself it is a weaker collision-prevention strategy than a deterministic run/test/worker identity.
Choose how screenshot data reaches your artifact store
There are two common approaches. The important question is not which API is universally better; it is whether simultaneous executions have distinct destinations and whether the saving process can reach the destination.

| Approach | How it works | Best fit and cautions |
|---|---|---|
| Save directly to a unique path | Call the binding’s screenshot-saving method with a distinct filename, then collect that file with your CI artifact configuration. | Simple when the process saving the screenshot can write to the chosen filesystem. Create the parent directory and check the save result. |
| Retrieve screenshot data and write or upload it | Obtain screenshot bytes or encoded data through the binding, then write the bytes to a unique path or send them to your artifact store. | Useful when you need explicit control over transfer or storage. The binding may expose a file, bytes, or encoded string; handle decoding and upload in your test code. |
Selenium’s WebDriver screenshot endpoint returns Base64-encoded screenshot data, and its language examples vary in how they expose and save it. See the official examples for the binding you use. Do not assume a path on a remote browser host is automatically visible to your CI runner.
Using separate sessions and Selenium Grid
Give parallel tests separate WebDriver sessions where your test architecture requires isolation, but do not confuse session isolation with file isolation. Independent browser sessions can still write to the same output filename if your harness gives them one.

Selenium Grid routes WebDriver scripts to remote browser instances and is designed to support parallel execution across machines. It does not establish screenshot filenames or collect artifacts for your test suite. Decide which process actually saves or receives the image, use a path accessible to that process, and configure CI to archive the resulting files. The exact behavior depends on the language binding, remote endpoint or provider, and artifact setup. See Selenium Grid.
Grid capacity depends on available resources. Selenium’s getting-started guidance presents resource recommendations as a reference, not a universal session limit; measure performance in your target environment rather than treating an example capacity as a guarantee: Getting started with Selenium Grid.

Troubleshoot missing, overwritten, or misleading screenshots
- One image appears to belong to another test: Search for a shared filename or shared directory convention. Add run, test, worker, and attempt identifiers to every destination.
- The screenshot is missing: Confirm the parent directory exists, check the save method’s return value where available, and verify that CI archives the directory where the saving process wrote the file.
- Local runs work but Grid runs do not: Check which machine or process materializes the file. A path on a remote host may not be accessible to the CI process; use the binding’s returned screenshot data or an explicit transfer arrangement if needed.
- Artifacts disappear between retries: Include an attempt identifier or deliberately preserve each attempt in a separate path instead of reusing a test-only filename.
- Files collide despite distinct test names: Sanitize names and include worker or shard identity. Test names may repeat across suites, parameter cases, or concurrent jobs.
