Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsOpen the Argos build linked from the pull request, inspect each changed snapshot against its baseline, and approve only when the visual difference matches the change the PR intends. You can record the decision in Argos’s browser interface or with its CLI; the CLI supports both approval and rejection.
Review the visual evidence before deciding
- Open the Argos build from the pull request’s status check or Argos bot comment.
- Inspect the current screenshot against its baseline. In the browser review page, use the split or single view, changes overlay, and highlighter to examine the difference. Zoom and pan stay synchronized between panes; press
JorKto move between changes. - Compare the changed pixels with the PR title, description, linked issue, branch, and relevant code changes. Ask whether each difference is an expected consequence of the intended change, not merely whether it looks plausible in isolation.
- Accept only expected changes. If a snapshot contains an unexplained difference or may be flaky, reject the review and identify the affected snapshot so the author can investigate.
Argos’s review page lists shortcuts including Y to accept, N to reject, and Enter to open the review popover. Check the displayed shortcut list in case the interface changes. Add a concise Markdown summary when useful; Argos retains who made each decision and when. See the Argos review documentation.
Approve or reject from the browser
Use the build’s review controls after inspecting the snapshots. The overall build label is not a substitute for checking the actual differences: compare the baseline, current image, and diff mask, and make the decision in light of the PR’s stated purpose.
- Approve: the reviewed changes match the intended behavior.
- Reject: a difference is unintended, unexplained, or appears flaky. Name the snapshot and explain what needs attention rather than recommending approval while a flake remains unresolved.
Argos counts reviewers’ verdicts independently: one rejection blocks a build; if there is no rejection, one approval passes it. The result can appear as a pull-request check and may be required by branch protection. See Argos’s review guide.

Submit a review with the Argos CLI
The CLI is useful when you want to inspect build data or record a decision from the terminal. Install it in the project:
npm install -D @argos-ci/cli
Inspect the build and list snapshots that still need review:

argos build get <build>
argos build snapshots <build> --needs-review --json
After evaluating the visual evidence, approve or reject the build. Add a rationale with --body if it helps explain the decision:
argos review create <build> --event approve
argos review create <build> --event reject --body "Unexpected spacing change in checkout-header snapshot"
Replace <build> with the build identifier. The review commands were announced in the Argos changelog on April 20, 2026; consult the Argos changelog and CLI documentation for current syntax.

Use the right credentials
Reading build data uses the project token. Submitting a CLI review requires a personal access token and is subject to the project’s existing permissions. For CI authentication, Argos’s AI review guidance recommends using environment variables or GitHub OIDC rather than running the interactive login command in CI. See Argos’s AI review guide.
How to choose between browser and CLI
| Task | Browser review | CLI review |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect visual differences | Built-in split or single view, overlay, highlighter, synchronized zoom and pan. | Lists build and snapshot data, including snapshots needing review; visual judgment still requires evaluating the actual image evidence. |
| Record a decision | Use the review controls and optionally add a Markdown summary. | Run argos review create <build> --event approve or use reject; --body can add a rationale. |
| Authentication | Use the Argos account and permissions available in the browser. | Project token for build reads; personal access token for submitting a review. |
Either route depends on the same substantive check: does each changed snapshot match the intended PR change? The Argos Diff documentation says a PR baseline is the latest approved build on the commit where the branch diverged from its base branch (the merge base). Check the baseline shown for the build rather than assuming a particular image or code change establishes approval.

If your task is to capture a page image rather than review an Argos build, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A screenshot cannot approve an Argos visual change; the Argos review still needs the baseline, current snapshot, and PR context. For a direct capture, see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation:

Troubleshooting review decisions
- The PR check is still failing after an approval: check whether another reviewer rejected the build; one rejection blocks it. Also confirm the review was submitted on the build linked to the PR.
- You cannot submit a CLI review: verify that the CLI has a personal access token for review submission and that the account has project permission. A project token used to read build data is not the documented credential for submitting a review.
- The CLI does not show a snapshot you expected: confirm the build identifier, then inspect the full build output as well as the
--needs-reviewlist, which filters for pending snapshots. - A difference looks unrelated or intermittent: do not approve it just to clear the check. Identify the snapshot, describe the unexpected change, and ask for investigation or resolution before approval.
- The baseline seems surprising: inspect the baseline shown for that build and its branch-divergence point. Argos selects the PR baseline from the latest approved build at the merge base; do not infer it from the current branch image alone.
