What are Puppeteer locator scroll options?
The Puppeteer 25.4.0 API reference defines LocatorScrollOptions as an extension of ActionOptions, with these optional numeric properties:
scrollLeft?: numberscrollTop?: number
The reference does not specify defaults, units, coordinate frame, or whether either number is an absolute position or a delta. Do not infer the final scroll position from a value alone.
How to call locator.scroll()
Create a locator with page.locator(selector), then pass an optional options object to scroll(). The method returns Promise<void>. See the Puppeteer Locator.scroll API and the LocatorScrollOptions reference.

Does a locator scroll into view automatically?
Locator viewport preparation is a separate behavior from explicitly calling scroll(). In the referenced locator API, setEnsureElementIsInTheViewport(true) configures a cloned locator to scroll the element into the viewport if it is not already there; the documented default is true. This means an action on an offscreen locator generally does not require a separate manual scroll call. Consult the setEnsureElementIsInTheViewport API reference for the version you use.

How this differs from ElementHandle.scrollIntoView()
ElementHandle.scrollIntoView() is a separate API specifically for scrolling an element into view. Its documented implementation uses either the automation protocol client or a call to element.scrollIntoView(). Do not treat it as equivalent to the numeric options on Locator.scroll(); see the ElementHandle.scrollIntoView reference.

Locators and selectors
page.locator(selector) creates a locator. CSS selectors can be used directly; Puppeteer selector syntax also supports text, accessibility role and name, XPath, and combinations across shadow roots. Refer to the Page.locator API for selector details and version-specific behavior.
Version and behavior limits
The options interface reference cited here is for Puppeteer 25.4.0, while the related locator and handle references surfaced as 25.12.0. Check the API documentation for the version installed in your project before relying on behavior. The cited interface and method references do not establish the units or absolute-versus-relative meaning of the numeric values, nor detailed outcomes for nested scroll containers.

- A nested container behaves differently than expected: The cited references do not specify detailed nested-scroll-container outcomes. Verify the behavior for the relevant page and Puppeteer version rather than assuming which container moves.
