page.keyboard.type(text, options) accepts one documented option: delay, the number of milliseconds to wait between each character’s keydown and keyup events. It defaults to 0. Use Keyboard.press() for named keys such as Control or ArrowDown; type() is for entering text.
What options does Puppeteer keyboard.type() accept?
The Puppeteer 25.9.0 method reference documents a single option, delay, in the optional KeyboardTypeOptions object. The value is a time in milliseconds between keydown and keyup for each character. The default is 0.
await page.keyboard.type('Hello');
await page.keyboard.type('World', { delay: 100 });The first call types without an added delay; the second uses the documentation’s example value of 100 milliseconds. That example is not a recommended typing speed or a guarantee that input will appear human, and a delay should not be treated as a way to evade bot detection.
What events does type() generate?
Puppeteer’s Keyboard class reference describes Keyboard.type() as the high-level API that takes raw characters and generates keydown, keypress/input, and keyup events on the page. It processes the supplied text character by character. The delay controls timing between keydown and keyup; it does not select a different key or transform the text.

Use press() for a special key rather than passing its name to type(). For example, await page.keyboard.press('ArrowDown') presses the key; type() enters characters.

Why holding Shift does not capitalize type() text
A held modifier does not affect Keyboard.type(). Holding Shift and then typing the string hello will not turn the supplied string into HELLO. If the required text is uppercase, pass uppercase text. Use modifier-sensitive press() or down() when the task is to operate keys with a modifier, rather than to transform raw text.
Page.type() uses the same option
page.type(selector, text, options?) also accepts KeyboardTypeOptions; its method reference lists delay with a default of 0. The cited Puppeteer Page reference labels itself version 25.10.0, while the Keyboard.type method reference labels itself 25.9.0. Those are the version labels shown on the individual documentation pages, not evidence that the references describe one synchronized release.

Troubleshooting common issues
The text appears immediately
That is the default: delay is 0 milliseconds unless you pass a nonzero value. Add { delay: 50 } or another appropriate value if the script needs a pause between character events.
ArrowDown or Control does not work as expected
type() is for raw characters, not named key presses. Use await page.keyboard.press('ArrowDown') for a one-time key press. Use down() and up() if you need explicit control over how long a key remains down.

Shift does not change the typed string
This is expected: modifiers do not affect type(). Provide the desired capitalization in the string itself, or use the key methods when the action must depend on a modifier.
A character must be sent without key events
Use sendCharacter() for character input without keydown or keyup. Its behavior differs from type(), which generates keyboard events for each character.
