That removes Chrome’s visited-page list; it does not automatically erase Google Account activity or YouTube history, which have separate controls.
Clear all browsing history in Chrome
- Open Chrome on your Android phone or tablet.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu), then Delete browsing data. Depending on the address-bar position, the menu may be at the top or may appear after you swipe up on the bottom address bar.
- Choose All time to delete the full available range, or select a shorter period.
- Select Browsing history. If you only want to remove the list of pages visited, leave cookies and site data and cached images and files unchecked.
- Tap Delete data.
Google Chrome Help says Chrome’s History list covers pages visited in the last 90 days; that describes the list, not a retention period for every Google service. If Chrome history sync is enabled, Google says deleting history also removes it from devices where you are signed in to Chrome and syncing history to your Google Account. Google’s Chrome history instructions cover both deletion and synced devices.
Delete only selected Chrome history entries
- In Chrome, tap More > History.
- Find the page you want to remove and tap Remove.
- To remove several entries, touch and hold one entry, select the others, then tap Remove.
Choose what data to delete
Chrome offers more than browsing history. Select only the data you intend to clear:

| Cookies and site data | Information websites use to remember sessions and settings. Clearing it can sign you out of some sites. | When you specifically want to clear website session or stored site data, not just the history list. See Google’s cache and cookies guidance. |
| Cached images and files | Saved page resources. Clearing them makes sites download resources again and may help with loading or formatting problems. | When troubleshooting a site or deliberately clearing cached files; it is not required to remove browsing history. |
Clear Google Account activity separately
Chrome’s local or synced browsing history and activity saved to your Google Account are different records. Depending on your settings, Google Account activity may include Search-related activity, Chrome activity from sites, apps, and devices using Google services, and YouTube History.

- On Android, open Settings.
- Tap your account or name, then Manage your Google Account.
- Open Data & privacy and manage the relevant activity setting.
- To review or delete activity already saved, open My Activity and use its deletion controls.
Google says Search-services history settings are being updated and are rolling out gradually. If the expected Search setting is not shown, Google says Web & App Activity may still control history and personalized recommendations for Search services. Check Google’s activity-saving controls and Google’s activity access and deletion guidance.
Deleting activity in My Activity does not guarantee that every browser record is gone: Google notes that activity may remain in the browser, and some activity is not included in My Activity. Deleting a Google Account starts a removal process, but Google says it may retain some data for limited purposes such as legal or business requirements; see Google’s activity deletion information.

Clear YouTube watch or search history
When signed in
- Open the YouTube app and tap your profile image.
- Tap Settings > Manage all history.
- Delete individual videos or searches, or use the controls to delete history for a selected period.
For a selected period, deleting watch history also deletes search history for that period, and deleting search history also deletes watch history for it. To stop saving new items, use the Controls tab and turn off the inclusion of watched videos or searches. Deleting watch history means future recommendations will not be based on that content; while history is paused, watched videos are not added. Clearing search history removes past searches as search-box suggestions. See YouTube’s watch-history instructions and YouTube’s search-history instructions.

YouTube documents the path Settings > History & privacy for clearing or pausing watch history while signed out.

Which history should you clear?
- Remove pages from Chrome: delete Chrome’s Browsing history.
- Remove activity saved to your Google Account: use the account activity controls or My Activity.
- Remove YouTube searches or watched videos: use YouTube’s history controls.
- Stay signed in to websites: do not select cookies and site data unless you intend to clear it.
