In the review, accept the checkpoint to use it as the baseline for future comparisons; reject an unintended difference so the existing reference remains and the result stays flagged for investigation. Save accepted baseline updates when the interface asks you to.
What accepting or rejecting a visual difference does
Eyes compares screenshots captured at test checkpoints with stored baseline images. On a test’s first run, its captured images establish the baseline. Later runs compare new checkpoints with that reference and surface detected visual differences for review. Applitools’ visual testing overview describes this lifecycle.
- Accept: confirm the change is intentional. The current checkpoint becomes the baseline reference for future comparisons.
- Reject: indicate that the change is unintended or needs investigation. Keep the existing reference and address the failing result rather than approving the difference.
Acceptance changes what future runs compare against; it does not fix an application defect. Decide based on whether the difference is expected, not merely whether it is visually small.
Review and approve a difference
- Open the test result and the changed step. Locate the checkpoint showing a visual difference.
- Compare the checkpoint with its baseline. The dashboard offers side-by-side and toggle views, as well as colored overlays to help locate changed areas. See the Applitools dashboard documentation for review views and controls.
- Inspect the changed area in context. Check nearby content and consider whether the change appears in other steps. A shifted element, missing text, or unexpected rendering may indicate a defect even if the changed region itself is small.
- Choose accept or reject based on intent. Accept an approved feature or design change. Reject a difference that appears to be a regression, then investigate the application, test, or rendering conditions.
- Save the baseline update if prompted. The dashboard workflow documents saving updates for future runs. The exact control can depend on the review interface.
Use region options carefully
Eyes’ dashboard documentation lists region options including ignore, floating, strict, dynamic, ignore-colors, and layout. These options change how a region is evaluated in visual comparisons; they do not establish whether a product change is intended. First determine what changed and why, then use a region option only if it matches the behavior you want the test to assess.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check scope before resolving several differences
Ask whether the change is limited to the current step or repeated across multiple steps. An Applitools Help Center article updated September 1, 2018 describes resolving an individual step or similar/all steps in bulk. Those controls and labels may have changed, so verify the available actions in your current interface before applying a bulk decision. The legacy help article provides that historical guidance.
Baseline behavior can also depend on the test environment. A Help Center article dated October 10, 2018 describes baselines associated with test and environment details such as operating system, viewport, browser, application name, and test name. Treat that as historical guidance and confirm the current behavior for your account and integration. Read the baseline explanation.

Interface and access differences
Controls and authentication requirements vary by review surface. In the enhanced Playwright report, Applitools documents that accepting saves the checkpoint as the baseline and rejecting indicates an unintended difference, leaving the test failed. That report requires authentication to accept or reject; logged-out viewers cannot see baseline images. Do not assume those exact access rules apply to every Eyes integration. See the Playwright integration documentation.
Common review problems
- You cannot accept or reject in the report: check whether the integration requires sign-in. The enhanced Playwright report does; other interfaces may differ.
- You cannot see the baseline image: authenticate if you are viewing the enhanced Playwright report, where logged-out viewers cannot see baseline images.
- The save control is not where expected: controls vary by surface, and older instructions may describe an earlier interface. Follow the current result page’s prompts and consult its integration documentation.
- Many steps show a similar difference: inspect whether the pattern is an intended shared change or a repeated regression. Use bulk resolution only after confirming the scope and checking the current interface’s behavior.
- A difference persists after rejection: rejection keeps the old reference and flags the mismatch; investigate or fix the application or test rather than expecting rejection to make the screenshots match.

For captures you need outside an Eyes review, ScreenshotNeo takes website screenshots through a single request. This does not approve an Eyes difference or update an Eyes baseline. It is a separate screenshot API and MCP server for developers.
